Splatoon |OT3| Feel Good Ink

I've been thinking of maybe buying this game soon since i want something to play with my gf. Can i play online with her at the same time? How's the lag compared to Smash(which can be pretty horrible at times)?
I've "played" the game a lot with my girlfriend. Or i've been watching her play commentating, giving advice and in general just had a great time. I have played for 50+ hours and it wasn't until a few days ago I actually passed my gf's playtime, and yet we haven't even bothered to touch the local multiplayer mode. Until now my gf has only really gotten hooked on platformers, but to see her fare pretty well online, considering that she has never played a shooter before, is quite amazing.

Hi, guys and gals!

I usually read this thread to see what's going on around, since I'm not the social type I'm totally okay just doing that but I have some questions about abilities: does the number of stars each piece of gear has is somehow related to the abilities you get when you level up your gear?, let me rephrase that: clothes with 3 stars have access to abilities different to the ones you can get with one or two stars gear?

I just use snails when I get something like 2 times ink saver, I even got a cap that had three special ink saver (or something like that), used a snail and then got two special ink savers.... According to the game the effect of a buff is diminished if you get two of the same but, what about three?, do we have numbers for that?, many people say the buffs don't matter but I've the impression that some abilities make a subtle difference that counts specially when you're exchanging shots one on one and face to face.

I don't think ninja squid is useful for brush. Either I am running woth brush out to go fast, or sitting still recharging/stalking.

The stars only determine how many slots the gear starts with. It's the brand that affects the type of abilities you will get. Any sub ability can appear, but for each brand there is one sub that is more likely and one sub that is less likely: http://splatoon.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Brands

Some people have tested the abilities for the diminishing returns. I don't know how accurate they are but you can check them out here: http://squidboards.com/threads/hard-data-gear-abilities-percentual-effects.2904/

I see. I was wondering why that cap gave me three times the same ability and two times again even after using a sea snail.

Thanks for the links; That information will definitively be useful. Edit: actually, the info of the link is super useful, so if I'm getting it right the buffs/effects of the main abilities matter much more than the ones you get when you level up your gear. In the end wearing three pieces of gear with let's say "special charger" as main is much better than having a cap or shoes with three special charger as sub. Very, very useful info.

Looking forward to the splatfest tonight.

You just gotta be more proactive. Initially I was fodder for some of the better shooters in GAF with good stage awareness. I recommend you playing a bit with brush and non-ninja abilities to better learn how to approach and retreat. With the fear of being detected and long range weaponry everywhere, your awareness will skyrocket and you'll learn fundamentals on moving and getting to good places/performing your duties for the team. After this, go back to ninja squid and use the same mentality while enjoying the ninja perk.

yeah a brush with beacons and the kraken is the give no fucks weapon set

It's like Nogami heard
all ten
brush specialists cries of I NEED MORE POWER and the rest of the internet's "lolInkbrush" and decided to let the whole world burn.

Hooray, new load out. And all it took were ~14 sea snails for more slots and rerolls.

This was a setup I wanted to build myself, but the shoes and shirt aren't cooperating with me. All 3 subs or nothing RNGesus!

The N-Zap '89, on top of being superior orange and made in best year like all good things, looks like Inkbrush: The Gun. It's probably going to be a monster for the Splatfest Turf Wars.

These Splatoon ads during EVO stream pimping the August update stuff (Team Matchmaking) with the Rapture's comments on Splatoon being made for eSports is gettimg me so weirdly excited.

I tried the rapid blaster, didn't like it very much. not as slow as other blasters but still slow to cover ground, also iirc doesn't kill very fast even from close range.
what am I missing? ;<

possibly the most difficult weapon in the game. You need two hits even with a direct hit and most of the time it's three. Not really useable with lag and your positioning is really important, I'd recommend the normal Deco Blaster in TC. I'm not good with it at the moment either, mind you, that's why I mostly play Splat Zones

guh, finally back up to A-. I seem to fare a bit better on splatzones, especially using the blaster. I was averaging 16-18 kills a game. That thing's pretty sick. point sensor and bubble are both very useful as well

I hate blasters for TC but I managed to deal with them sorta ok-ish for splat zones. Still, I need to learn how to kill you guys better.

Oooh. Gotta friend that's been waiting for the new N-ZAP. She's going to be excite. Only if I can get her to leave that pesky bubble... And, I gotta say.. was not expecting the new brush to look like that. Gonna be fun trying that bad boy out!

I swear if I could use a decent pad instead of this piece of crap I'd do much better.
like reacting to enemies by using the super, sometimes I'm not fast enough and I blame the pad, which I obviously never used for shooters and certainly isn't the best way to go.

It's only temporary. I'm too hype for EVO not to show off.
