They expect the Ranked mode to be unlocked in one to two days.
Then why lock it for a day or two at all? lol

Let people go in once they reached level 10.
Is there a volume control at ALL? In the demo there was no volume option, and even if I cranked my monitor down to the lowest possible volume setting without muting, the Splatoon sound/music was still too loud on headphones sometimes.
Nope, was mentioned in an earlier post. Did you try using the Gamepad's headphone jack? Maybe that can help.

Commentary is a bit cringe worthy at times.
They probably don't want people to wait ages for a match and have negative experiences without Voice Chat to pass the time
The thing is that other games locking online modes behind a level lock don't do this lol. It is something that mitigates automatically.

Oh well, I expect it to unlock in a day and not any longer. Not that big of a deal, but still seems silly to me.

Maybe they want to give players something to anticipate all the time.

Console Creature guy talks about painting the walls but doesn't realize the walls don't count for anything.

Don't think this is exactly spoilery but it is a single player level. They just sit there for one minute listening to the music and the next minute move forward and kill some enemies and fade out. They barely start the stage at all or show any puzzles so I think it's safe if anyone wants to listen to a short clean clip of the music.

Yesss, this is the song I need clean and extended for 10 hours!

Oh fantastic. I'll have this on repeat for a while lol.

Started to aim straight and less towards the ground in matches tonight. Certainly covered more ground and unlocked my special weapon much quicker. Allowed for more kills and a better defense. The Inkzooka is awesome when you have a height advantage. Manged to kill three opponents with one shot in the closing seconds, which gave the team the edge for victory.

Don't want to split the userbase right away for a new franchise on a struggling console. They can't rely on COD/Halo-like launch sales. I think it also works with their ide of the game, seems they constantly want there to be something to work towards and look forward to.

I'm definitely keen to see more of your multiplayer videos, you're a good player!

Single player can wait until I play it for myself.

He's really inefficient with that roller and you can tell he's not looking at the map.

The first videos paint the walls comment just made me cringe, the second videos got the first videos audio and he never showed who won let alone each players score. The game audio would've been much better than his annoying commentary (not that I've heard anyone's commentary be better than the game audio)

I'm sick and might be a tad testy at the moment

It was very painful to watch. If I wasn't on withdrawal I would have bailed after the first five seconds.

Does the players display thing at the top of the screen get bigger or smaller depending on who's leading and then has the danger thing when a team is way behind? I never really paid any attention to it during the demo but watching a couple videos it seems to be a thing.

A very barebones 1v1 as well.

This is pretty much a single player or online experience. All hail our gyro/map overlord

So Nintendo decides to make a competitive shooter, like, 20 years after Goldeneye, and they don't care to make a split screen multiplayer mode? And I hoped this will substitute Mario Kart 8 at friendathons.

I imagine that 4 player local would take a pretty hard hit to the performance. MK8 cant keep up 60fps on any more than two players and that has technically less to worry about than Splatoon. Hyrule Warriors has to take a resolution hit just so it can stomach two players. 3D World is the only game that can handle 4 player local without any drops but that was because it was designed entirely around it.

I do hope that Nintendo's next console will up the ante on the hardware, if only because of local. Its one of the things they're still unparalleled at but its getting a bit harder for them to sustain it.

I wouldn't mind if they had to sacrifice 60 to 30 frames for a 4 player splitscreen mode. I just hoped that Splatoon is the next big local multiplayer Nintendo game and it's such a shame that it is not.

Black Ops 2 was the last COD with 4-player split-screen and it was released on Wii U.

It has great Wii Remote support along with Pro Controller, Classic Controller and Gamepad support.

It's one of the most acclaimed COD's with a ton of maps and game types. Also has support for 6 bots in addition to 4 players. Not to mention Zombie mode.

It's a super great game if you want classic local multiplayer.

007 Legends also has 4-player split-screen but no Wii Remote or Classic Controller support just 8 maps and the worst visual quality of gameplay on the Gamepad.

Still it has modifiers like paintball, invisibility, small mode, etc.

I don't really care for these types of games. Nintendo seems to be on to something with splatoon - manic, colorfull multiplayer mayhem akin to Mario Kart, but with shooting instead of racing.

I have a set of old timers and when we meet its always time for Mario Kart or Nintendo Land. I had big expectations from Splatoon, alas...

Get all the scrolls,
unlock Octolings for Multiplayer

bcSPaex.gif

At least that's what I'd like to see

The guy on 4chan that has the full game said that finishing the single player gets you
The Octolings Goggle, Chest Plate, and Boots
and the
Hero Suit
as well. He also said that getting all the Sunken Scrolls does nothing.

I'm afraid Splatoon will mainly be the online or single player modes.

There's always Smash, Mario Party 10, and such stuff, I guess. However, I'd suggest looking into the co-op mode of Affordable Space Adventures. It's a really really unique Wii U game.

Here's the beginning of the game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8Q9qrkOBZQ

Starts off with the tutorial identical to the Testfire, and then has Callie and Marie tell you some stuff. And it seems there are only 2 maps for Ranked Battles as well every 4 hours. They are different from the Regular Battle maps though. Here I was thinking Ranked Battles wouldn't be affected by it lol...
He said don't forget to plaint the walls bonus when Judd counts eh wat?
Don't listen to him about that. The walls do not count for points. They do make traversing easier though.

Yea, it does.

No. I'm not a YouTuber so I'm not recording any footage myself.

Tried the local multiplayer.
You don't want 4 player split screen, trust me

If the framerate drops for the 1 vs. 1 local MP that explains the lack of online split screen mode and the lack of other local MP mode.

Seems to be the case, a good way of gauging who's winning or losing

Wow, it's like they just loaded up loads of random instrument samples and turned it into a track. Amazing
