Splinter Cell: Blacklist |OT| Warning: May Contain Trace Amounts Of Stealth

Man, I don't even know. I've never played my WiiU online other than a few Tekken Tag 2 matches. How do I find out my NNID? I'd be down for some co-op or Spies/Mercs...

It's the name in orange below your Miis name when you start the console and chose the User. You can also see it in your Friend List, and of course your Miiverse profile.

He grows on you, surprisingly.
He does. I miss Ironside a lot but if they must have Sam at the forefront then the new guy isn't that bad. Little too generic but definitely not the worst.

The whole team actually grew on me. Something was still missing (maybe too much military mumbo jumbo?) but I wouldn't mind talking another tour in the Paladin.

I'm the opposite on Sam's new VO. It just felt progressively more out of place and out of character to me. But, thats coming from a more 'hardcore' fan. It just didn't feel like this was Sam Fisher.

Overall the game was enjoyable, a step in the right direction with regards to moving more towards a suitable playstyle for old school fans.

Spy vs Mercs is a huge step backwards. Spy melee has ruined the game imo.

And maybe someone here can help me understand this one. I've noticed some mercs don't stay tazed as long with the shock crossbow as others... Is there a suit option I'm missing or how does this work? Some seem to be out of it in less than a second while others are tazed for what seems like an eternity. Is it armor rating? Or is there a specific piece that I'm missing or? (And god, allowing melee while the merc is tazed = one of the worst design choices EVER)

I don't think there's any anti-tazer option, but it could depend on armor rating and/or where you hit them with the bolt. I know in singleplayer and co-op guys with helmets and heavier armor do not get tazed if you hit them in body armor.

I believe that the better armor you have, the more resistant to stun you are.

I agree though, new Sam is definitely not old Sam. It's a reimagining of the character. I've started to see it as a 007 situation. I just try not to dwell on how great Ironside's Sam was, as comparing the two just hampered my enjoyment of the game.

I hated Daniel Craig at first, but now he's my favorite Bond.

Yeah armor rating is the only thing I could really come up with that made sense after going through all the options.

My problem is just that there's no levity whatsoever with the new Sam. He seems a lot like Jack Bauer except with Jack you really understood the underpinnings of that character and his motivation.

With new Sam I'm not buying that he'd be as dedicated to the mission as they are writing him, especially coming off of Conviction where they tried to humanize his character a bit. Now they've really stripped him of any humanity, and he's basically just your generic down to business military character.

Yeah I think they should have expanded on revenge for Vic as being his motivation. There's a couple good lines about it, but they didnt dwell on it as much as they should have.

Interestingly, Sam's levity comes out in the side missions. The conversations that Grim and him have are more reminiscent of the older games. It's like they took it all out of the main story and hid it away.

So I'm pretty terrible at SvM classic. Especially as the spy. Only have 1 successful hack so far.

Anyone have any tips for me? Or any good YouTube videos for strategies?

Edit: are the rules the same as blacklist mode? Can a spy only be seen on motion detector if they're running or not crouched?

Don't get me wrong I do wish they would have just moved Sam into Lambert's position or something. I've been with Ironside since the original Xbox deal, only missing out on his PSP and Double Agent adventures. I can see where you're coming from.

I just accepted a while ago that this would be a different kind of Sam and I thought the guy playing him did a respectable job. The whole thing is like some weird character reboot even though it takes place after Conviction. It's stupid but not as stupid as it could have turned out to be.

I found it works much better if you position the Gamepad flat and look down at it. Once you understand the level of movement required, it becomes easy to do.

Yeah this is what I did. Although I didn't lay it completely flat. I had my elbows on my desk, and the gamepad was half way lifted off the table. But basically, I was looking down on it (as if it was flat).

I'll try to lay it completely flat next time. I initially tried to hold the gamepad and tilt, that was awful lol.

The first person sections in the single player are absolutely killing my desire to continue playing. Any time I fire up this game I end up playing spies vs mercs instead.

Is there anyway to fully ghost the
Jail assault
? I'm thinking no, but I got Panther and the Youtube playthrough of that one dude went ghost with no Panther popping up but he knocked out a bunch of dudes. :/ Not sure if I should go that route since it takes out the bonus for not touching anyone but...

I got ghost mastery on this. Here's the annoying things about some parts of the game. If the AI actively looking for you, through things that are not your fault (story dictates it) like
right after you get ambushed in the jail
you will always get Panther Evade points.
This happens in the scene right before you find Nouri's safe room in Private Estate as well. I had to take them all out to get enough points for Ghost Mastery

To get enough points in that stage you just gotta knock those dudes out. Another weird thing I noticed
on the first try on this part they never leave alerted state, but whenever I reloaded the checkpoint they eventually gave up looking for me. Still had to take them all out though or I would get Panther Evades no matter what.

Actually in
the Penthouse/Panic Room
if you're fast, you can avoid getting Panther points there. But yeah, the part I'm at I'm thinking is impossible to ghost which is stupid because if I'm
sitting on a pipe, you'd think they'd either look up or start clearing rooms one by one thereby letting me slip through.

If you wait it out long enough they'll change state and you can stealth KO them for ghost points. If you don't wait until they change state you get combat KOs and if you leave them alone you get Panther evade points.

Those sections don't last long, maybe 5-7 mins each tops.

I wish they weren't in there, but they aren't that bad that they should make someone avoid the SP campaign. It's two short sections in one mission. I'll take that over Highway of Death any day.

Gen X

Trust no one. Eat steaks.
5-7 minutes got me through all of them altogether. But then again I used my gun.

I tried my best to play stealth. The first section I think I killed 3 people and knocked out the rest. In the last section I only knocked out one person.

I've played a couple hours of the single player on WiiU (yay for not having to use my TV!) and so far I'm digging it.

Nice mix of classic SC gameplay and the action-y parts of Conviction. It's fun to creep around and kill silently (Panther style for me) and then pull out the mark and execute once in awhile

Had some amazing matches tonight with J Mizzel.

I know I can be bossy, but there is a technique behind why my team wins 95% of the time.

Yea good games, i'm not as good in Classic as I am in blacklist I hadnt played Classic in a while but i'm still top 100 on the leader boards in both modes but higher in blacklist.

Damn, that exfil. Couldn't do anything but Panther through it.
Is there actually any alt-routes once you fast rope down? Outside of the basement that seems to be a movie set, there's no real alternate routes to Briggs
disappointing on that front if it's true. I mean I saw "exploration" bonuses but no real avoiding enemies routes.

You mean
the QF HQ level? You can ghost it for the most part, although the guy just by the exit of the soundstage/probably more of a dry run area you might have to grab to get through the door with his RFID tag
.

Yeah, that level. I had to knock more dudes that I wanted to out to get to the exit. I'll probably try again tomorrow to master Ghost on it since I have the secondary objectives now so I should be able to get through it without having to go out of my way on touching enemies or stuff for the objectives.

I did notice centerstrain go the same route and
stun-gun-bolt the lights
the pistol default makes too much noise or something? That's something I haven't been using either. I should probably add that to my repertoire since it's been AGES since I had to use that in a Splinter Cell.

After 6 missions, I've really gotten into the groove of things. This is the old splinter cell I miss! (Reminder: last game I played was Chaos Theory). Having so much fun.

Glad you're getting into it! So far I've yet to see someone get farther in and not start to enjoy it. Gameplay is just so satisfying.

Only a few missions in, but quite good so far.

Are there no checkpoints in side missions? I was initially excited to see optional missions, but I tried one of Grim's solo and it seemed like I had to do the entire thing in one go. I can understand having no checkpoints for co-op, but none for solo would really suck.

EDIT: Just found the answer earlier in the thread. All side missions have checkpoints except for Grim's, is that correct?

I've been busy with work lately and missed this one. I've enjoyed all the previous SCs to varying degrees. Is this one worth picking up or should I just skip it? I have a huge back log at the moment.

How is it on the 360?

I picked it up today. So far it's great. Like you I've enjoyed all the games in the series to varying degrees, with Chaos Theory being my favorite by far. So far I'm really digging this one. Feels like Chaos Theory with a bit of Conviction thrown in.

It's really a lot of fun. I'll be honest, I've been waiting a long time to play something similar to the old Splinter Cell games. Been really burnt out on all the FPS shooters. So this is a real blast.

Same, games were kinda getting stale for me, everything was kind of paling in comparison to the looming GTA 5. I had almost given up, but SC rejuvenated it and it should last me the last two weeks until GTA comes out.

I love that you can stealth your way through a lot of levels. Right now I'm at the third level, American Consumption.

The only thing I disliked in the beginning was that escort mission and that accompanying action sequence to defend your position. Such a shame. I had a blast with the stealth and then they throw that shit in. I hope further missions don't have much of that stuff.

There is, but now that I'm replaying the campaign those sections take on a new feel. I have a much better handle on the mechanics and as a result those sections are playing out very different.

For instance, if you avoid detection during the escort part of that mission there are no reinforcements and no "hold your position" segment.

There are still plenty of forced action situations though, but while the game insists on throwing you into a meat grinder at times, you'll find that you don't have to play them that way.

You can play all of the game as ghost. Even the part in the train. Took me like an hour to figure it out but if you use smoke before you enter and wait they will change stance and you can knock them out for stealth points.

There is no point in the campaign where you are forced to get panther or assault points.

Ah, did not know that. Haven't arrived at a train level yet. I'll keep stealthing my way through.

What the hell is going on. My team mate and someone on the other team were invisible to each other. If that person hacked a terminal, my team mate had no idea and vice versa. They don't even show up on the scoreboard for each other. This happened in two separate matches tonight.

This coupled with character models clipping through cover and giving away your position and constant issues trying to join matches with a friend... fuck this game. What a waste of money.
