Thank you all for the recommendations. Much appreciated, love the anime community on here. ;)

Question, how do guys watch the moe/cute type of anime, knowing someone could just walk in any second and be all O_O. It's one of the main reasons why I tend to watch stuff with more of a mature/adult appearance/art.

Doors?

Married to nerdy wife. We watch K-ON! together, so no problems...

Only suggestion I could give you is to watch on a laptop with headphones, I guess. Most discreet way I can think of.

I generally don't have anyone to walk in on me when I'm watching anime. But, with a few exceptions, I wouldn't be embarrassed if someone did. The need to be seen as "mature" by others is itself childish.

Yeah, but no lock if that's what you mean. Plus, family/friends come and go. Only time I can watch moe type anime (Only ever seen Lucky star) is when family's asleep. I just feel awkward watching it. Maybe it's just me.

It makes me feel so weird when I'm out of the loop on a lot of the things you guys discuss on here, but when the topic turns to Boku no Pico I can go "what, you guys didn't know about Boku no Pico?"

If you're saying that erotica isn't a prerequisite for loli material then I guess you're right (although sexual undertones are still highly likely...), but not all shota-centric stories are ero either. Btw, I guess I've been desensitized to shota ever since I first saw Po-ju comics. Don't read or look these up if you don't want to be confused about your sexuality, lol.
Po-ju's so good :3 Haven't read one in awhile though.

My brother knows full well what I'm into. My mom knows about the moe/cute stuff too (my desktop background's Nanami Madobe right now) but she'd probably be uneasy with some of the crazier stuff. She's not too nosy though so it's cool.

Uh, no. Lolis, that is the "sexualized" form of pre-pubescent looking girls, almost always deal with innocence or the dissonant lack thereof. The conflict comes from the loss of innocence, in strictly non-pornographic works the prevention of the loss of innocence, and in both, the realization that there the innocence is already lost, and that's usually played for comedy (that dissonance.

I'm really just assuming on the pornographic end, but since lolis tend to fall into the roles of the woobie, the cutey to be broken, and the cutesy comedic relief, the move into porn isn't that hard. The situations and jokes all remain the same set around innocence.

Shota gets to go into sexual experimentation because of the audiences and because of the "boys will be boys" idea. They're boys so they can't be "taken advantage of" like the loli can. Really, these character types just play off of the general cultural assumptions about children, so figuring them out isn't very new, exciting, or anything like that.

Ao no Exorcist / Blue Exorcist is pretty good. They changed it a bit from the manga but it turned out better this way I think..

Keiji Fujiwara needs to (episode 2 spoilers)
stop playing awesome dudes that end up dyingggggg. :(

You know what the fucked up part is? I am gonna remember that for the rest of my life and yet I can't remember what I read in a textbook during a exam. It doesn't matter how much I study, I always forget something. Yet, I can now write a whole essay about Boku no Pico.

Never bothers me unless it's a show with dodgy ecchi loli moments , however all of that is redundant because I either watch it on my TV via PS3, or on the PSP.

Could you get 10 pages out of that?

Same way I wear jewerly, bracelets, headpieces, Girl sweaters, and other stuff in public. Shintoki don't give a fuck. Well I do actually, but not enough to make me not stop doing it :O

Honestly, you can watch it fairly easily. As long as you don't go around screaming about it like a lot of anime fans do. By chance someone does come across it, as long as it's not a big deal to you. It's not a big deal to them outside the occasional joke or two.

Ore...whatever. Yaoi girl is awesome. Homo game of dreams in the making. Damn those heterosexual prunes.

That isn't the case with cross-dressing shotacon books and the like. They are almost like girls in every aspect, including appearance, mentality, and response to situational context.. as such they are placed in the same kinds of situations as females are - the only difference being what you see when certain garments are removed.

I could atleast fill 5 pages with facts, then go all philosophical on the other 5 pages. My essay will link the significant link between Boku no Pico to the Illuminati, Fox News and Mel Gibson. All in that order.

Yeah, it wouldn't be any fun if they actually acted like boys.

I'd settle for some chaste hand-holding.

I guess loli end is confirmed? The dude is a fool, sour vags is the clear winner here.

Agreed. I just enjoy the things that I enjoy, and I don't worry what other people think about them.

The only thing that really matters is your own opinion. Besides, if someone is going to judge you based on the art style of cartoons you watch, why do you care what they think?

My parents know what I watch, and they know I think critically about it since I can go into several layers of depth with it, and I challenge my younger sisters to think critically about what they watch as well. I've written more than one academic paper on anime and moe, so it's less that I'm otaku as I'm an academic with an interest in Japanese animation. I also don't really have much shame about it. I don't talk about any "moe feelings" seriously to any extent beyond a reference for academic analysis (I do have them, but again, I don't take them seriously), but I also don't really care what other people think because I enjoy watching what I do and I'm confident enough to back it up using my deeper analytical skills. They still don't like it? Dealwithit.gif.

I don't give a fuck about it. I like what I like and I don't care too much about what other might think of me because of what I like to watch.
Plus I got my fair share of embarrassing moments in my life that people walking on me watching moe anime is really the least embarrassing thing ever.

I don't think my parents care, at least, I don't have any problems about watching my animu when I'm at home.

I just realized if I ever have kids I'll probably spend my time playing FPSes and watching Animu with them.

One of my sisters walked in once when I was watching Shugo Chara and called me out on it, but when I asked how she knew what it was it ended up that she was watching it too, so we ended up watching parts of it together. No sense in worrying about it, especially when plenty of people's minds jump right to the cutesy stuff the second they hear the word anime, even if you're actually watching the manliest thing out there.

I give a sociological-related rant about how I don't feel obligated to give into societal expectations nor to assume a predefined gender role, and they leave me be with my hobby...

But seriously, I usually avoid being asked, so it isn't brought up. My friends are okay with it the same way I don't like mainstream rap. There are some antagonistic feelings to jostle each other with, but we're just friends teasing in a friendly manner. I usually resort to two types of explanations when I am asked about my infatuation in anime. Likening my fascination to how some people love their romantic comedies or action flicks, and then, ask them if there's an inherent difference in liking one over the other where what I watch is objectively worse than yours when we both have guilty pleasures. And my other explanation involves correlating their musical tastes with mine using classical music as an intermediary, which I love talking about the most because it's where both sides can passionately geek out their musical tastes. It's even more fun when someone is a gamer and they like JRPGs and such as well. Then I have an affinity with them where we can draw parallels with one another.

At that point, it's just a small, fun argument where I'm trying to illustrate we both have differences where we simply agree to disagree. It was never about the moe or the kawaii factor I partake in.

I know I kinda wanted it but after looking at the new K-on!!! I don't like it. The new girls like like French lesbians, Jun's hair looks even worse-she's like the fat girl in the group, and Ui needs to let her hair down. We all know show starts to suck once the kids go to college. :/

I just know they're going to have some episode at a Pizza Hut (TM), where they can drink Pepsi (TM) and do stuff on Yakiatsu's Macbook Pro G4 (TM).

AnoHana to have more product placement than Tiger & Bunny.

I'm more confused than ever. :p
You mean 2 Hourou Musuko posters with PS3s behind Jinta.

Edit: Instead of paying expensive licensing (?) fees or whatever they're called, I'm sure some animes use fake brands to avoid paying it or to avoid future conflict if there's a problem with certain things happening being associated with certain products among other reasons.

I watch my anime(and everything) on my laptop using headphones in the kitchen near the fridge so i got food nearby and so people don’t walk on me when there a surprise random fan service moment or boa hancock on screen.

if i think about i watch everything in private(movies, cartoons and anime) even surf gaf in private, it’s become a habit at this point.
