My guess is it only became a real issue when female students complained they were uncomfortable. It sounds like I’m defending the firing, I’m not, I’ve just worked in education most of my adult life and seen this kinda thing numerous times. In my experience, an administration will always side with students in fear of a PR nightmare blowing up in their faces.

This clearly was an accident, and mild (porn wasn’t actually playing or anything) but it happened in a classroom in front of students and that’s just not a mistake you can make anymore.

It’s easy to sit back say “give the guy a raise!” but that’s just not how it works these days.
