Is the movie live action or animated?
It wasn't a popular show, but it was funny.

Oh wow, this shit got reeeealy uncomfortable reeeeeeeeeealy fast... I even jumped a bit when he started knocking shit over. It's doing pretty well, framing the romance without condoning it.

Star of the show, really.icarus-daedelus said:As if there weren't enough space-filling LOLNANAMILOL episodes already, 24 was entirely superfluous and even recaps prior filler episodes just in case you missed 'em the first time round somehow!
I even like Nanami a lot when the writers/other characters aren't busy figurativelypissing on her.or literally
For this show it's a pretty important rule.Hitokage said:NO! DON'T SKIP ANYTHING!
Heathens.
Kite has some god damn amazing action sequences, but that shouldn't be enough to make someone watch it.icarus-daedelus said:I'll admit to being vaguely curious about whether censoring really improves Kite enough to make it watchable and even artistic, since the one dude on ANN podcast goes on about it so much.
But not really curious enough to actually watch it.

Damn if there isn't a ton of personality to be had in this show. I'm only on ep 3, but I feel like I've known some of these characters forever. Always a good sign in my book.
It did take an emotional turn though, and here I went into this expecting a straight comedy.
It didnt even need a second season. Whys it getting so much attention?Dresden said:So they're doing a live-action adaptation of Arakawa... and also a movie. Did anyone even watch that show?
Yeah, which is why I'm impressed. They stretched it out a bit in episode 5, but overall it's pretty solid and doesn't really pander.Jexhius said:The team seemed to work pretty hard to keep it neutral.
It's important that the show actually makes you uncomfertable, because in many shows with similar plots they don't try and do that. They just act like it's some kind of hetronormative relationship.

I've nearly finished Fumoffu, is that the only FMP worth checking out, or are the others enjoyable as well?
Sometimes crazy stuff just isn't that interesting. It's a fine line.Dresden said:It's very campy. Asides from how absurd it is, though, it's not that good.
That said, aesthetically, there's something to appreciate about all the uncensored nipples.

Where they trying to be funny? I guess some of the them were, looking back on it. Then again, all I can remember is theicarus-daedelus said:Pffft. Those Nanami comedy episodes are so unfunny and yet they try so hard. Her actual dramatic arc is good, though.

Pretty much. They just have to deal with shit getting real at some point.M_Night said:I'll probably give them a go.

Ive already seen the series, so this is pretty low down on my watch list, even though I plan to get around to it sometime.Branduil said:Eve no Jikan - the movie
Great stuff. The characters are just so well-realized and compelling. And the added scenes really improve it. Bottom line, you can't call yourself an anime fan if you don't want to watch this.
Some say thats all you need to watch from the franchise.Miri said:You'll get more enjoyment out of it if you're already accustomed to the characters and their respective wackiness, but Fumoffu can work as a stand-alone comedy unit.

Hey, Nanami's Egg is serious business. Not to mention there's nothing better than impromptu Kangaroos.icarus-daedelus said:Nanami's Egg, Cowbell of Happiness, The Great Curry High Trip (how could you forget exploding curry jex?!), that one episode where Touga boxes a kangaroo...jesus how did I remember those titles...all trying and failing to be funny. They're more awkward than anything. I always want to skip them personally.
It's better when they integrate offbeat humor into the srs bsns, like the student council meeting held in the midst of a baseball game being played on a roof. Or the student council meeting where Touga is throwing an outline of knives at an un-fazed Miki. Or any student council meeting, really. Those were awesome.

You know, it's kind of strange, without the context of the older brother's lust, this could just as easily be construed as a normal, loving sibling relationship. I mean, really the only issue is that Onii-chan wants to stick it in her pooper. It's almost feels like the romantic love bit is a deus ex machina.

Speaking of Osamu Kobayashi, French website GAiNAX.FR published some days ago an interview with him conducted during the Japan Expo Sud 2011 celebrated in Marseille, France. In that interview he talks, among other things, about that Hanamaru Yōchien ending he worked on and especially about his close relationship and various projects with GAiNAX. I wanted to see more questions about other of his own works like Natsu no Sora, though. Anyway I'm definitely looking forward to his contribution in Dantalian no Shoka:7Th said:True. I enjoyed Hanamaru, but the endings were definitely the best part of the shows.
The first Soul Eater ending also had more effort put into it than mostshows.Shaft
As someone who reads a number of blogs and also follows a small (put active) number of anime-related twitter feeds, I never see any of the stuff you mention until you bring it up.
