Excellent! Shit was getting out of hand.
URGENT COMMUNITY MESSAGE
Hyouka was okay.
Well, I didn't like it. Most likely because I cam for mysteries, detective work and smug faces. Nstead I got... Oreki. Only thing that was interesting was excited Chitanda, but even that wore off pretty fast.
Even IF you are a Maki fan, I will not stand for any badmouthing of Chitanda!
I swear a lot of people that go into Clannad want to think it'll suck lol
Clannad was my first Key show, and I watched it after Toradora. I didn't have the best impressions with the comedy at the start, but it didn't take long after for me to like it.
Heh. I actually liked the first season of K-On!, it was simple, cute fun. The second season was the same only somehow boring. I tried two times to watch K-On!!, but it just couldn't excite me.
And I have no bias against cute girls doibg cute things, saw plenty of that and liked most stuff. Its been a while, but I think K-On was too tame. Not talking something extreme here, but somehow I had the feeling that I'm watching the same stuff over and over again. I also disliked Hyouka and Lucky Star (but I actually finished the latter).
Actually the only three anime I have ever gone into thinking "this is gonna suck" is Shuffle, Elfen Laid and........ believe it or not, Clannad.
I probably would have liked it more if it felt like it was going somewhere or actually went somewhere.Well, I didn't like it. Most likely because I cam for mysteries, detective work and smug faces. I swear I've seen more lewd images from the FG thread compared to this one. Post content is probably another matter though.
I didn't try to badmouth her, she was the obmnly redeeming quality of the show, at least for me, but the thing is that she couldn't carry the show alone.
But I do enjoy looking at sparkly eye pictures of her. Her gaze is fascinating.
Elfen Laid is a hentai ova.
What does this even mean. Effective in what way?The only reason the second season of K-ON is more "boring" than the first is because it replaces the shallow characterization and constant gag interruptions of the first with more human characters and more deliberate and hence effective direction.
Thats what I'm feeling too.I probably would have liked it more if it felt like it was going somewhere or actually went somewhere.
I'm okay with whatever people like or dislike, and the reasons for liking or disliking something are always personal, but when an argumentative point is made I'd like if it wasn't misconstruing the aims and qualities of a show. This happens a lot with these kinds of shows, and reading those before going and watching it yourself is probably going to be misleading.Eh, people like what they like. I wouldn't say people are uneducated because they don't like the same things. Watching Hyouka it's immediately apparent that it's not a show for everyone. It caters to a pretty specific taste. I am happy it caters to me and happy I'm enjoying it so much. I do know though that others won't interpret the same things from different shows.
That's the cool thing about anime is that people interpret and take different things from any given show. For example where some might find Clannad as a show with a lot of drama and big eyed characters, I find a deep story about a group of characters that all have deep and repressed problems that need to be resolved in order for them to function and be better people. It's a story about real life problems with supernatural elements sprinkled in throughout the show. It's about a show about family, forgiveness and miracles that help people understand more about themselves/teach lessons. Some will not interpret the show like that and look at it face value.
I'm not talking about keeping it on. Most airforces have a hard requirement that all recruits must have 20/20 vision, hence megane is banned. The few megane witches probably just keep them on with magic, it wouldn't even be the strangest thing about the show! Humi will find a way to get more megane witches in the sky.
Well Pierre Clostermann didn't even wear glasses so the option to give witches megane is clearly Humi's thing, a thing he should do more often!I'm not talking about keeping it on. Most airforces have a hard requirement that all recruits must have 20/20 vision, hence megane is banned.
Well, he Witches are pretty unique. I don't think they be picky after the Neroi conquered so much land.I'm not talking about keeping it on. Most airforces have a hard requirement that all recruits must have 20/20 vision, hence megane is banned.
I was about to say "well maybe they're just empty frames" but then remembered that even suggesting such a thing is sacrilege against everything that megane stands for.I'm not talking about keeping it on. Most airforces have a hard requirement that all recruits must have 20/20 vision, hence megane is banned.
I didn't like that it couldn't make up its mind if it was introverted high school dude solves mudane mysteries at his school thanks to the egging of his friends or if it was a romance story. What does this even mean. Effective in what way?Thats what I'm feeling too.

For example, I don't really like Clannad, but I understand what it's about and all of the points you made were clear to me when watching it. I just had some problems with the presentation and the style of writing and drama that Maeda likes to employ. I felt that the characters don't come through as multifaceted human beings because of it, but rather as ploys to be used for "sad moments"; the over-dramatized nature of the scenarios they come up with as well as the dialogues themselves take away from the show's intents, and the supernatural stuff (as presented in the anime, I dunno about the VN) strains plausibility and doesn't really have a place in a show with core themes as grounded as Clannad wanted.

I preferred it when it I thought it was a mystery show.
-Must look good wearing an eyepatch and animal earsBut have you checked the requirements of the witch airforce?

One of the obvious requirements I'm not able to say, as I fear the wrath of duckroll. But have you checked the requirements of the witch airforce?
This too, also your Ume-sensei Seiba is giving me the diabeetus.-Must look good wearing an eyepatch and animal ears

It's perfectly okay to disagree and have a differing opinion, and I've read a lot of valid negative points and complaints about both K-On!! and Hyouka where I accepted that it comes down to preference and the priorities one has when going into a show. These are not in the majority though.
And yeah I get that its was all about character development. But I dunno maybe I'm too used to quick start romance stories rather than watching the romance eventually develop.Hyouka is a character development story. The mysteries serve the purpose of fleshing out the characters involved in them, just as the romance that gradually deepens does.
Then it is doing its job well! This too, also your Ume-sensei Seiba is giving me the diabeetus.
I suppose there must be a real shortage in short pants magic wielding flying girls.Well, he Witches are pretty unique. I don't think they be picky after the Neroi conquered so much land.
Did you read about Suomos misfit squad? The militarys have some real bad stuff in their rows. I think the american witch is trashing stuff worth thousands of dollars on regular basis.
-must have nice buttBut have you checked the requirements of the witch airforce?
Well I suppose if you can make a man-ass pilot into a butt exposing, anima ears bearing witch flying with fighter parts on her legs, adding megane is trivial.Well Pierre Clostermann didn't even wear glasses so the option to give witches megane is clearly Humi's thing, a thing he should do more often!
Somehow I have the feeling that I'm being insulted.More effective in getting me to care about the characters and to be interested in their interactions. The direction is more observational, the editing is more connective, and the characters are treated more like real human beings instead of fodder for gags.
Of course, people have different tastes and all that. The reason why K-ON!! and Hyouka appeal to me is because they both present a heightened reality where the mundane becomes almost magical thanks to the way it's presented. Unfortunately some people only see the mundane.
Apparently. I don't know how else some of the Witches wiuld still be in the military.I suppose there must be a real shortage in short pants magic wielding flying girls.
A witches' beauty is directly correlated to the handsomeness of their pilot archetype, which means Pierre best girl.Well I suppose if you can make a man-ass pilot into a butt exposing, anima ears bearing witch flying with fighter parts on her legs, adding megane is trivial.
But there was no reason to change the way K-On worked. It did just fine as it was.

K-On!! suffers the same problem as Hyouka where the uneducated only see the surface and proceed to judge the show as "nothingness" or what have you, without really trying to understand it and get to the core of it. Which, admittedly, you can still think it's bad anyway, but you rarely see any complaint coming from this place.
For K-On!!, it's aggravated because its first season is indeed a fairly vapid 4-koma show with not much going for it apart from the general finesse of the production (which is also greatly improved in the second season, although it's no match for Hyouka).

I don't get how you can hate K-On yet you still watched Nisekoi.Monocles gonna monocle
No Game No Life
And the harem grows ever larger.
Also, what a fucking cliffhanger.
I don't get how you can hate K-On yet you still watched Nisekoi.
Disgusting.Seems like an odd comparison to make, the two shows aren't even remotely similar.
If you want to talk SHAFT, I actually dislike Hidamari Sketch for many of the same reasons I dislike K-On. But that's not quite as well-known!
New OP animation suggests a few things dealing with a change of scenary. The new ED song and animation is good too. I liked the previous song because it was just catchy and was Tasuku Ryouenji focused but well now its more for everyone. The post anime part with Tasuku and Gau was good in terms of card strategies and introducing the cards, like it for a more advanced topic than just the general introductions she described last part.
Korra no Densetsu S3 01-03
Probably the best opening episodes this show's seen yet. Plot developments continuing on from the last season are logical and interesting, character relationships move much more fluidly without being weighed down by romantic drama, the humor is excellent and consistently present, and the new villains are both credible threats and intriguing, if not quite compelling (yet). Most importantly, the main character's personality is newly-tempered with prudence and compassion. Korra is still passionate and temperamental without feeling stupid or mean.
Oh, and Korrasami is totally canon. :sdburton.
I definitely agree that Korra S3 is currently a huge step up from the previous season.
Okay, I've watched too many cute girls doing cute things recently. Anyone have any recommendations that aren't too moe? I'm also willing to do watchbets if anyone is interested.

Asking for cute girls doing cute things without moe is like asking for JoJo without fabulous posing.
