One of the characters looks exactly like Gammon in Phi Brain, well at least his character portrait, otherwise the rest look pretty nice.
Well, the concept -is- "Saving Private Ryantaro".
World
Story
Imperial Year 2017.
The young man Lelouche who had his right to succession take from him became the masked man known as "Zero" and caused the great conflict against his mother country The Holy Empire of Brittania known as the "Black Rebellion". While the flames of resentment against Brittania were being fanned, the Empire of Brittania seeks to suppress this with overwhelming force.
At the same time in Europe, against the overwhelming force of the Brittaninan empire, the Euopean Union (E.U.) has been slowly retreating its defensive line.
For the E.U. on the brink of defeat, the Special Forces unit "W-0" installed Hinata Akito as a pilot and former Brittanian royal Layla Marcale as the commander.
"W-0" is the Knightmare squad made up only of Japanese boys and girls thrown into and executing a plan with a very low chance of success.
With gruesome pasts and a cruel present, these boys must create the "home" they can go back to and to protect it must start fighting in the world of adults.

The studio is under pressure due to high expectations? Not a major studio, confirmed. I bet it's White Fox as rumored.
Yes, but I just want to put a disclaimer on the off-chance that they decided to pick the more obscure possible readings of those names. After all, there is a very mild CLAMP involvement. You can never be too sure!

Truth be told, the trick was that I knew the ending to two out of three of the shows so I was able to watch with a perverse excitement anticipating what I knew everything was leading up to.
After 37 episodes of hell between Arjuna, School Days, and Blood-C, Eiken stopped me dead in my tracks in ten minutes. I'm no hero.

It's a fun show, it's not very serious and the girls are cute, you should finish it, especially with the second season on the way!

Well, I haven't seen the OVA for comparison, but I've really enjoyed the TV series so I recommend that you check it out.
