Speaking of Gao, I bought a Gao Gao Stegosaurus shirt a long time ago. Still have it!
The best things to come from Air were that shirt and the dog, Potato.

Potato was fucking awesome! XD. But AIR holds a special place in my heart because it was my first KyoAni show. I watched it mainly due to the quality of the art/animation.

I can't judge. I bought the boxset.
I really like the atmosphere of the show, although it makes me sleepy watching it.
Its really appropriately named.

Yes the art and animation was fantastic but I'd say it's the weakest of the three Key shows.

Potato was so cute though.

Yamada is cool but every character is awesome in some way so you don't need to watch for one in particular.

Indeed, every character has their place.

but come on,

Sailor Moon Episode 06

This episode cuts right to the chase.

Jadeite
has a new plan to take energy, involving a music tape.

Usagi and Naru are in her room listening to some chill jazz music.

The youma sneaks into a local station and places the tape in a stereo.
an employee comes in and takes the tape by mistake.
She meets
her BF at a restaurant and leaves the tape with him.
A youma is sent to pursue him to get the tape back I guess.
The guy
freaks out at the sight of the monster and runs away, bumping into Usagi.
He apologizes for knocking her down and offers to pay for her clothes dry cleaning.
He has no money so he leaves her his card with a phone number. He turns out to be the guy whose piano music they were listening to earlier!
Usagi
decides to visit the music hall to see him. They dont allow minors in the hall, so she uses THE PEN to disguise herself as
a pretty smokin Musician girl.
She goes into the club and sits down, but naturally she falls asleep and misses the musicians performance.
Usagi
runs outside to find him, but he has already gone down to the basement to a waiting car. However the youma is there to greet him.

So begins a brief but hand drawn car chase scene. Oh how I miss this type of thing.

They follow the youma to the station, where they find all the producers and staff under a spell.
The youma transforms and threatens to kill the girl that the musician likes. Luna and the musician time their moves to get the girl away from the Youma and knock away the tape.
Luna
stomps the tape to break it.
she doesnt fuck around.

Usagi
Henshins into Sailor Moon and chases the Youma.
The Youma is a bat that throws high frequency sound wave attacks.
Sailor Moon throws a microphone at the youma, amplifying its soundwaves back at it. While its distracted,
she pulls out her Tiara and ends this circus.

The musician and his crush talk together and Usagi later finds out they got married.
Naru talks about him in her room and how she wishes she knew him and Usagi says she knows him personally.
TRollsagi.

^I'm getting Sonic Adventure (or at least, that one song from a SA game) vibes. Always a good thing.

You are probably thinking of "Escape from the City" which is a really fun skaish song from Sonic Adventure. Ska might be played out but I loooooooove it.

Tasogare otomo x Amnesia ep 1
+ They got suitable VA for the characters especially Kirie, not sure about Teiichi. I was expecting for Momoe to scream UNIVERSE!

+ Kirie = <3 + with Eri Kitamua = <3 <3 <3

- Oh god...endless eight two.
- Character designs are average through out the episode.
- Execution is terrible with those comedic faces and sounds.

Overall, this anime isn't doing the manga justice.

Wow, people are really coming down on Tasogare. Is it that crap?

Saber isn't even a fairly tale. Arthur is fair tale, Saber is some weaboo nonsense.

Lololol. Poor Saber. :(

So there's some exploitive shock value there, I take it? Classy.

I don't even understand it really. The manga for Fate/Zero is not an adaptation of the LNs in particular, but an adaptation that is aided by the anime storyboards Ufotable provides. The only purpose is as a marketing tie-in for the anime series. Yet somehow the artist or the editor or whoever decided that for the Ryuunosuke scenes they should go far over the line into guro-porn territory. Really pointless.

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
Hm.

Tokyo Godfathers:
That was the single longest string of coincidences I've seen, not only in anime but perhaps in all of fiction.

Not as good as Millenium Actress, but better than Paprika and Perfect Blue.

On Sankarea and Tasogare:
It is ironic that Sankarea, which is pretty light hearted and gag-filled, got a rather serious adaptation, while Tasgoare, which was always heavy on the drama, spent its first episode dicking around with antics.

OMG! There are Fujikoike credits! Someone posted a scan from I think Animage or Animedia, but the photo is focused on Sket Dance and Medaka Box entries. At the top right I saw the Ep6 entry for Fujikoike....

Ep6 - Prison of Love

Fujiko disguises herself as a teacher in an all girls school to go after a pendant belonging to one of the students.

Script: Mari Okada
Episode Director/Storyboard: Shouko Nakamura

So somewhere out there, there are credits and synopsis for ep2-5 as well. SOMEONE FIND IT! >_<

Well,
Isaac and Miria's cameo
was enough to make everything worthwhile, and Mikado was pretty badass.

...for what it's worth, does it have any Sket Dance episode titles? I'm curious to know what's coming up next...

Paprika is certainly a step down compared to Kon's other works. However, I'd say that Perfect Blue is better than Tokyo Godfathers, precisely because of the string of coincidences, which tested my suspension of disbelief, that brings down Tokyo Godfathers experience. Still enjoyable but unrealistic. What made you think otherwise?

So is Toriko any good? Cooking + shounen brawler sounds like a great match... but the first eps was pretty awful so I never really watched anymore.

I'd say it's average so far, not quite Yakitake Japan in terms of their reaction to eating delicious food but ithere's not much to complain about either.

Wow, people are really coming down on Tasogare. Is it that crap?

It seems that endless eight is a scar that won't heal, there's also the issue of doing a piss poor job at conveying what type of show it is.

There is like a 99% chance of lesbians in that episode.

Of the limited works Satoshi Kon was able to direct, Millenium Actress is BY FAR the best one.
I was able to get a big movie poster of it too. Amazing film.

I dislike Perfect Blue and I like the characters of Tokyo Godfathers.

Suspension of disbelief aside, I enjoyed Tokyo Godfathers more than I did Perfect Blue.

Indeed, Millenium Actress is his best movie, if not his best work (bar Paranoia Agent, since I haven't seen that).

Is there anything you don't have, cajunator? I'm so jelly right now :(

and now I'm sad about Kon again ;_;

I can understand that but, as a tangent, what made you dislike Perfect Blue? It's certainly not as charming and glamorous movie as Tokyo Godfathers but did you dislike the movie itself or the subject matter it was dealing with?

Mostly aesthetic, also topic was boring.

It's a Christmas movie. Also realism in anime never mind Satoshi Kon's works lol.

It's rather vanilla honestly, it's just that I have no interest in stalkers/serial killers that aren't also waifus.

Indeed.

Kanin 2006 > Clannad + After Story + Tomoyo and Kyou OVAs >>> AIR

Personally Clannad AS > Kanon 2006 > Clannad + OVAs >> AIR

Clannad AS weaved a much more mature and nuanced story than any other of Keys works.
Plus it's one of the few anime to make me cry like a baby

Music direction-wise, I'd say your list is right though.

Mostly aesthetic, also topic was boring.

Conversely, I thought it was an interesting depiction of the idol world but I guess that's just different stroke from different folks.

She is so annoying.

What did Yamada ever do to you? ;_;

It doesn't really matter to me if it's Christmas or an Easter movie. I'd still rate it the same way. Regarding realism, I can take a certain amount of fantastical elements if it's grounded in the real world before I write it off as a complete sci-fi/fantasy.

It's a Christmas movie! The movie is very deliberate in the way that it creates this string of coincidences, it's aware that they don't make sense 'in the real world'. It isn't trying to go for normality.

Geez, I'm sorry I don't believe in Christmas miracles and Santa Claus. <_<

I can see that but the string of coincidences just turn me off, whether or not it was deliberate or not. Maybe it's because I consider it a movie going for realism and that's why my suspension of disbelief alarm goes off like crazy when watching this.
