I'm certainly glad I'm not the only one who loved Strike Witches when I started posting here.
But it's a really good episode! Although,
she has to share the episode with a guest character.
Mostly talking about season 1.
In season 2 she gets an episode that helps, and she's cool in the movie.

I like how this episode gave us a bit of insight in how von Reuental executes his governmental duties in the Neue Reich. Lots of rebellions apparently. Gotta get that revolt risk down!
It's always funny seeing Julian being awkward around von Kreuzer. It's not really clear if they're in a relationship yet though. Everybody's seeing the chemistry ofcourse, but I wonder if Julian is actually gonna mimick Yang's awkward confession at some point.
The Terraist Grand Bishop explaining how they're basing their strategy of Christendom in the Roman Empire is the first real clue we have gotten into their mindset. It does make me wonder: why DIDN'T Christianity die alongside the Roman tree it had rooted itself upon? Then again, you had the Byzantine Empire who kept the flame alive. Might need to read up on this.

I'm pretty conflicted on the matter right now. Probably need to see more Witches.
Vivid does look better made for the most part though and by what I've been told here I shouldn't expect that opinion to change.
8 episodes per disk isn't too bad it it's a 50GB disk. Infact it's pretty good.

I wish I reached a point where I had any sort of decent organisation on my image folder. It' currently ~12k pics all thrown together.
Adopting the local customs inside the religion was an ingenious move.

These are such great lines. Must've been great to record. Really gives the actor good potential to execute comedic timing.

That looks more like Sentai quality and could also be source sabotage like some JP firms like to do on occasion. I'm just saying that on a 50GB disk 8 episodes amount to like ~33mbps average bitrate which is close to the ~40mbps maximum rate.

So, this is the OVA that comes with the new PSP game.
It's pretty packed with a lot of miscellaneous little scenes, so it's hard to say much unspoilered without ruining punchlines/surprises, but it was great to have the gang back together. No new OP/ED for this one, still the same ones as the first season, despite saying "SS" on the DVD menu screen.
Speaking of DVD, it's disappointing to see a DVD-only pack-in in 2013. RKB TV BDs way outsold the DVDs; it's pretty clear RKB anime fans want BD. I can only assume it's a deliberate ploy to be able to re-sell it on BD later--considering the Youtube ads for the game show the OVA in actual HD. The most likely form I would guess would be as part of a second-season BD box released after the second-season BD singles are out, which would be rather annoying, so I'm hoping they consider putting it as a bonus on one of the BD singles instead.

So much great stuff in here. Subaru and Tomoka cute together as usual, typical RKB innuendo humor (Sitting in the dark, a sweaty Subaru says to a sweaty, nervous, Tomoka, "You go shower first." WHY ARE THE LIGHTS EVEN OFF??), all five of the girls doing their usual things, "say ahh," Tomoka's mom, call-backs to the first season (Maho's popsicle, Airi's lobster).
It's mostly a reminder video of how the characters behave and where they were at the end of the first season, sprinkled with service shots ranging from cute to slightly lewd, but also properly introduces us to Tomoka's mother (technically she was in the first season very briefly) and establishes that she approves of Subaru. Also, while Subaru interpreted his own mother as being oblivious, I have to wonder if it's not the opposite. Looks like Tomoka and Subaru's marriage can go ahead without a hitch.
As one would expect from an OVA, none of the messed up faces and other art-fallapart that were in the first season TV broadcasts are present, and while it's not a high-budget project, it looks fine.
One thing that stood out to me was the panty-shot teasing, haha. They keep setting up scenes where it looks like they're going to show them and then don't, then finally at the end they turn it around and actually do it, after you've come to expect that they won't.

Still even at 20, that is pretty good for anime, especially digital. Disney does their Ghibli releases at 20 too but those look fine especially accounting for grain. Then again Disney isn't Sentai.

Is there a reason to do this, though? There are twelve episodes, so why not just have the first six on disc one and the second six on disc two? That would seem like a much more sensible way to go about it, unless I'm just missing something.
