This is the worst anime I've ever watched. It isn't even worth mocking anymore. When every part of an episode is nonsensical bullshit, it doesn't even bear pointing it out anymore.
You could be marathoning Utena instead. You chose your own demise.

Space Brothers 63:
Well, fuck. I was hoping that maybe Sharon would be okay, but nope. And that evil fakeout sucked. I like that they're connecting it back to Serika's father and giving her a role to play in this story. Now we have to hold out hope that Sharon can hang on long enough for Serika to make it to the ISS and find a cure.

Unless the anime starts adapting at a rate of one chapter or less per episode, it'll catch up with the manga eventually.

Eventually, but they would have over a year until that even became a concern.Throw in some recap episodes and maybe make a few major story events based on a single chapter (ones that had enough content to make it work) while keeping the general pace at 2 chapters per episode and you can do it even longer. It could become a concern down the line if two years from now the manga still hasn't ended, but I think they have enough creative ways to get around the issue (and it would be pretty easy to slip some filler episodes in).

Wait for the licking episode.

Do I even want to know?

If only someone had warned you beforehand that SAO wasn't very good.

"Not very good" isn't severe enough for what this is. "Worst thing on the internet since child porn," on the other hand, would be a moderate and levelheaded description of this unmitigated filth.

Told you Corvy Kun. You should heed our warnings heehee.

Warnings from anime-GAF function as big red buttons or signs to me. You all say "Stay Out" and all I hear is "Come In."

Utena is a crazy show. It definitely lives up to its hype as "The Evangelion of girls anime."

quoth the raven "never more again"

If only the Raven had been smart and said "Not even once."

Yeah we have built upon a culture of masochism here. When people scream to high heavens to avoid something we immediately watch it. Its what we do.
Im afraid youve been indoctrinated into our cause.

Ojamajo Doremi 13: Off Hiatus Edition

Seems to be the right time to get off of hiatus on this show at least.

THANKS TOEI FOR SPOILERS IN AN EPISODE TITLE! JESUS CHRIST! SAVE THE PUNCH LINE FOR LATER!

Meanwhile WEIRD ASS LOOKING HORSES.

I really like how this episode starts off with Doremi falling, and then everyone else just spites the hell out of her for doing so. Doremi just can't escape getting shit thrown at her can she? Level 8 tests (Nurse is awesome).

So we have a test of where everyone shines (except Doremi), Ai being rather clever and realizing what the test was about before everyone else. They even cheated! CHEATED! God damn. Sisters for life yo.

WE EVEN HAD INTERSPECIES LOVING!
and it screws them over by 3 seconds, failing them. But then the Queen arrived and passed them for their good deeds

It's like stepping away from this for a while really enhanced how I enjoyed this episode, granted it was pretty good to begin with. Then again, this is Heartcatch Precure Season 0.

Just drop it now. You don't have to suffer any more. You can still say you watched the worst anime of all time. The only way to cure that would be to watch one of the best. Put on Madoka Magica, and enjoy yourself. You've earned it.

Hell, watching Madoka Magica should be a rite of passage for nearly everybody who likes anime. It's that good.

Madoka's amazing if you have some familiarity with animes (which is pretty much all of us)

What would you guys say is a really good "gateway" anime?

I started watching anime for reals after seeing FLCL -- but even before that I watched Teen Titans which had FLCL influence so maybe it's not the best for everyone.

Wait...what the fuck happened there? Cleo won, and was about to kill Vetti but was stopped because...because what? That rain stuff? Was it because he didn't follow the teachings of the Black Cross so destiny and stuff? I...I'm at a loss here. I can't think of anything. Best I can think of is that God hates him so...lols, Vetti and the Empire win. I can't even bring myself to be mad at it.

Pretty Cure

Trigun maybe.

Nice hidden suggestion you got there.

I actually wasn't all too thrilled when I watched a few episodes of Trigun a month or two ago.

I think it was Vash's hair that really turned me off. Just reminded me of anime club in high school and how weird everyone seemed to me at the time :L

I'm legit considering it, but the last show I dropped people still tell me I can't judge because I didn't finish it. And besides, if an S2 rolls around I have to be there to go through it with the rest.

Who hasn't watched it though?

I haven't, but I 1)tend not to venture outside my comfort genre of Mecha when there's still so many shows there for me to watch and 2) haven't really watched a magical girl show since I saw Sailor Moon as a kid, and 3)tend not to watch shoujo things anyway. I think Utena is the 2nd Shoujo I've ever watched? That and Vision of Escaflowne.

It depends on exactly who you're looking to "gateway", but in general I'd say a family film such as Spirited Away, Wolf Children, or Whisper of the Heart, very well made and with broad appeal, would be a good recommendation for someone who hasn't watched anime before.

Sword Art Online - Final Thoughts

I started watching this show because of various reasons. When I first heard of it, I thought it sounded like .hack// but I didn't bother watching as it aired because I had other things to watch at the time, but it's always been on my radar. Then I heard about it being somewhat divisive and terrible. So, being the masochist I am, and already having an interest in the show already, I decided to dive head first into the show.

Here's the thing? I enjoyed the show for what it was, but it had it's share of flaws. The first arc, or the first 14 or so epsiodes, were fine and dandy. The world set-up was great, the characters were more of less entertaining (if they weren't Kirito), and it was fun and enjoyable, for the most part.

I find that I actually liked every single character more than Kirito. I don't hate him or anything. It's just I didn't really feel attached to him, at all. Hell, I felt more attached to Suguha, and she stole the MC roll from him for a good while during the second arc. My favorite character had to have been Asuna (Liz being a close second) because of how she was presented. She was strong and mostly independent (unless the writers demanded she wasn't, like during that stupid incident with Kuradeel and forgetting she could pull rank) and I felt more for her more than any other character.

I think if the show had ended at episode 14, then it would have been fine as it was. Heathcliff's motive for making the virtual world wasn't nonexistent I'll admit, but by saying “I forgot what it was”, then that just feels like a major copout. I realize he wanted to create a new virtual world paradise, and that's fine, but why do it at the expense of 4,000 people's lives? Honestly, if Heathcliff's reason for this was more concrete, the first arc would have been fine. Don't get me wrong, some stupid contrivances were required for the first arc to proceed as it did (like a good number of them in episode 3's party death), but it wasn't all that bad honestly, even if it did feel like .hack//lite sometimes (especially during Yui's introduction.

And then the second arc came in the form of ALO. And it was terrible. Because when the second arc hit, it felt like we jumped off the rails and went into an entirely different genre and turned into a different show altogether. It also didn't help that it introduced Suguha's incestuous desires for her brother/cousin Kirito. Like, the stark contrast between SAO and ALO's arcs are just amazing.

In SAO, PKs were considered murderers. Kirito lived in a world where the virtual world WAS the real world, for the better part of 2 years. He was traumatized by the deaths of his party members in the first guild he was part of, and he only killed when he absolutely had to (Heathcliff didn't really give him much choice on the matter)... and then ALO happens. ALO, which runs on the EXACT SAME ENGINE as SAO did. It seems sort of hypocritical for Kirito to vow never to let his party die while also being okay with killing others.

What really pulled me out of the story for ALO? It... seems like a downgrade in terms of scale. SAO had ten-thousand lives on the line and the players were trapped in the game for a solid two years before clearing the game (and that was a fluke!). However, for the second arc, it's mostly only Kirito's problem. Granted, the villain's motivation for ALO was much better (mind control research is a great research), if not a bit creepy (oh god episode 24 was terrifyingly close to jumping into a straight porno at times). I just didn't feel it. I enjoyed the fights yes (aerial combat is almost always amazing).
My thoughts on Suguha/Leafa? I... didn't like her attraction to Kirito. At the very least she had a love interest that wasn't her brother/cousin... if she liked him. And he was cool. I liked Recon, especially since he did that super awesome (if not incredibly in vain) self-destruct attack during the grand quest. Also... oddly? I thought Leafa's design could fit in with Nanoha's aesthetic the entire time I watched. I mostly enjoyed Suguha whenever she was Leafa. I almost never cared for her otherwise. I DID feel sorry for her when she found out Kirito was her brother in the game, but... I couldn't really completely feel for her situation.

tl;dr First half was decent, second half was awful.

You have done well, Buster-san. Your tl;dr pretty much is my impression of the series as well.

Watch it. Madoka's one of the best things I've ever seen. Unspoiled Madoka is such a rollercoaster ride.

Well then seriously watch Madoka Magica. I'm being legitimately serious with this one. And it's only 12 episodes.

There won't be an S2 anytime soon. After the anime, two movies have been released that are basically retellings of the story. The third movie, set to release this fall in theaters, is going to actually continue the story. From there I've heard some speculation of there being a S2, but I won't hold my breath.

tl;dr First half was decent, second half was awful.

This is how I feel so far. First half, for all its faults, was just a decent/stupid show. Second half of this show is the worst thing ever.

It reminds me of Gundam 00, where S1 was tolerable, S2 was complete and total bullshit and the movie was a sin against God and Mecha, except that Gundam 00 had the decency to space that shit out over 50 episodes and a movie. So you at least had 25 okay episodes before things got fucking terrible.

Sword Art Online lasts what, 14 episodes and then turns terrible?

Which show was that?

Rah Xephon holds the odious distinction of being the only show I ever quit watching part way through. I'm considering giving it a second go because even though it is a boring as fuck Evangelion copypasta, it'd be hypocritical of me to say that the hints of incest in that show made me drop it when I finished the full blown incest pandering known as SAO.

Well then seriously watch Madoka Magica. I'm being legitimately serious with this one. And it's only 12 episodes.

Isn't it a magical girl show? I really don't do magical girl shows.

Nevertheless. I mean, at this point I don't even care about when Kirito inevitably rescues Asuna, but I might as well finish this. I'm not big on quitting shows and games and books that I start.

I think he meant an SAO S2.

Great way to start the episode with
Manami, Saori and Kuroneko. Too bad it doesn't take long for Kirino to show up.
Kyosuke's harem grew really fast holy crap.

First half of the episode was fine but then Kirino had to open her mouth and ruin the fun but leads to
Ayase becoming a housewife for Kyosuke and that leads to Ayase confessing and get shot down.

Episode was fun except for the Kirino moments.
