This is fucking horrible, the tine of the whole series changes with a snap of the fingers, wtf.

The rocket sear part was hilarious though, too bad the outcome was horrible for them.

The closing music is so sad too, dammit. Also, after Clannad, Kanon, Your Lie in April, etc the last couple weeks, I got this...
It was bound to happen someday. Maybe only Sunday without God can save him.

Question: I want to start watching the Fate series.

Obviously I start with Fate Zero. What should I start watching after that? Should I watch Fate/Stay Night (2006) or just skip it and move on to Unlimited Bladeworks?

You watch Fate Zero. Then when you finish and realize you've watched an amazing anime, you stop because not even the 2014 Fate Stay Night compares.

Really? Even though it's by the same studio? I'm surprised a prequel is held more highly than the main material.

The main material wasn't very good. It's a rare example of something that wasn't particularly good getting a really well done prequel.

Just watch Fate/Zero and leave it at that.

Fate Stay/night is a lot more pandering than Zero was. Probably because they were written in different mediums, and someone else handled the dialogue in Zero

I very rarely notice quality, but something that's right in your face like this

Is definitely... something. And that's to say nothing of the soccer ball moving despite not connecting with the player's feet.

So, Unlimited Bladeworks just isn't as good, even though it's still currently airing and hasn't gotten an actual ending yet?

It's an adaption of the light novel. We already know exactly how it's going to end. Not to mention that you can judge the show pretty well by the time you've gone more than halfway through

Oh, I didn't know it was adapted from a light novel. I haven't really followed those before.

Wait sorry, meant visual novel. Fate Stay/NIght is a visual novel. There are three routes. The first route, Fate, was the main source for the original anime (though it took stuff from the other routes as well). The current anime is a pretty straight adaption of the unlimited blade works route.

I say it has to be considered on its own because a lot of the previously established context would rather sour it. For instance
why the fuck isn't a single one of his high school friends helping Tomoya out in his misery?

Given just the anime, I understand where this comes from. In the game, you have to understand, After Story is
a sequel to Nagisa's arc alone. In that universe he's not particularly close to any of the other girls. Kyou treats him as an old high school acquaintance in the game because that's what he is. Sunohara doesn't come up, but I can't say that's too unbelievable considering time and distance.
How close are you to your old high school friends, especially those that moved away?

Oh, ok. Thanks for the information.

I've been trying to find some good anime I've ignored over the years. I didn't even get around to watching Code Geass until recently.

Just give F/Z a watch, and if you really like the world/setting you can watch UBW. It does suffer because of the material its adapted from and other reasons, but its not unwatchable.

Such a great anime, I did my annual rewatch of it earlier this year. Its just so memorable. Otonashi Hinata

Nice.

The producer of the show apparently did all the music from scratch. It was done very well, the ending made me almost cry but luckily

Fuck, I hate that spoilers show on the Mobil site when you quote people, lol

Luckily it was just that one episode that was pretty dark but I just realized I'm only at ep.7 so shit really hasn't hit the fan yet. (They just went fishing; hilarious) I'm guessing that with the last five episodes it starts to get hard. If you read the description in Crunchyroll, there is no way to tell that would be the case. I saw a girl with a gun and it had been sitting in my queue from a recommendation for awhile now, lol.

Edit: wait, wtf Angel x2

Also, the director did a great job putting the music together then, it's really good.

Just watch Carnival Phantasm. It's the only thing worth a damn from the Fate property.

So they can miss out on all the jokes? Carnival Phantasm isn't exactly something that should be watched standalone. Hell, half of it is based on Tsukihime and its spinoffs that don't even have an anime adaptation.

pretty much. Speaking of source material, how do you guys think they'll handle the sex scene from the visual novel this time lol? Do you guys expect the same type of random visual metaphor that they pulled in the first anime? Or do you think they'll just gloss over it and give another explanation. Or do you think they'll actually directly imply that yes, they had sex, but just not show anything?

Mostly asking this for lols, and to demonstrate an aspect of the source material that explains why FSN is different to FZ

off screen

I personally don't think they'll have the balls to make it clear they're having sex, but just do it off screen. I think they'll just use another explanation for how the
mana link is established
. I mean, the fact that they did it through sex in the VN was kind of shoehorned anyways

Just got done watching some City Hunter. Took a week break from the show, not out of choice but just schedule issues, but man its fucking great to be back. Missed this show like crazy and I couldn't stop smiling the whole way through. Finished episode 22 to 26, should be done by the end of the weekend if I watch an average of 5 episodes a night, challenge accepted. Mokkori!

Nobody minds if I skip the whole update thing, right?

I don't know if I quite get what you mean hah sorry about that, so you're saying that you don't like posting updates yourself so you can hide your shame? (if that's the case, you shouldn't be ashamed!) Or are you ashamed of what I watch and rather I not update you all? :p Sorry that I make you feel that way if that's the case!

I don't mind updating in regards to what I watch, I just doubt anybody cares at this point, all you need to know is the show fucking rocks and I love it! :D

Mark it; this was a very good episode, easily the current best this show has to offer. It's still rough around the edges, but I think it's finally settled into a good rhythm. Character-focused vignettes with fights interspersed throughout each episode. I like it, and Eruna is still a fantastic protagonist. Next week's girl should be interesting.

Wow they really think Izayoi is a witch, but I loved how they did make her hair flow like that in the duel and how she can stand her ground. Best femchar duelist in YGO (sorry ARC-V).

Angel Beats ep. 8-9
Damn, Angel is the mystery to it all, hopefully, we get more of her story at some point. However, at least we now understand how Otonashi is going to try and
help everyone pass on by helping Angel, seeing as her motives are out in the open now and he agrees with them
Seeing the rest of Otonashi's story was pretty cool as well. These last 3 episodes could be tough to watch depending on how they play out the scenerios. I also want to see her play the piano like the opening.

Been a while since I posted in here but My Love Story had me in tears of laughter this week.

I'very been stashing it away to watch all at once ar the end of the season. The impressions around here have been really good, the same with the food porn anime; soma

Pafu is a maid? No wonder she's so lame. Ribbon is better than her in every way. Human Aroma is decent, though he really should've thought before sneaking into the girl's dorm. Aroma's problem is pretty obvious. Pafu isn't passing any exams soon. Lock doesn't mind kissing up to the boss. Pretty good fight. Nice to have a powered-up monster actually be threatening for once. Next up, we once again get a beach/swimming episode without proper swimsuits. An important tradition.

I'm impressed how Eruna basically carries the show single-handedly. Art guy and cos-con get backstory. Huh, so Tonkyun won after all. Pretty smart for a pig. Pity we didn't see Eruna's loss. There's the final girl.

Are we sure that this is just one cour? I assume everything is by default unless we know otherwise, but pacing wise this feels like two cours. Especially since there's now a rival school.

Honestly I'm just being picky as Fate Stay Night feels like a grim dark harem (in the VN each path also happens to be 'which girl do you end up with'). I only watched it to get to Fate Zero, which while some might consider grim dark it at last is deliciously grim dark and also has the greatest manly man character in any show. Also it has anime Batman.

You might end up enjoying FSN if you're not particularly picky with your anime right now. But it wouldn't be far-fetched to say that if given the choice to watch one or the other most in AnimeGAF would pick FZ over FSN. I don't even know how many regulars in this thread still watch the currently airing UBW FSN.

So is Euphonium actually good, or is it more in line with post-Hyouka Kyoani.

Well they're actually trying with this one.

For me it alternates between being great and being okay. The great parts are the Whiplash stuff when the teacher is just shitting on everybody and the infighting.

I find the show somewhat boring though when things are just proceeding along. That's when the yuri pandering and breast jokes seem to come out.
