I suppose I can agree it's akin to a R rated american comedy because it's not funny at all (aside from a few select scenes). I mean I was actually taken aback at you guys calling it a comedy because it never crossed my mind it was trying to be a comedy, just had some comedic moments every 30 chapters or so.
more so it's just nice art to push fetishes. It is indeed not to be put along the trash you think of when you first read it, as for some reason I continued reading it, but it's far from being good in any way besides the art

One day I need to read past the first dozen chapters of Prison School to see if it actually does get good.
I thought the same in the beginning but it definitely does get a lot better.
But "R rated American Comedy" covers a pretty wide range. Like sure that would be inclusive of say whatever turd Adam Sandler pooped out of his butt recently but also stuff like Bridemaids, Tropic Thunder, The Jump Streets, etc.

Well you gave it a shot at least. I found it to be hilarious on more than one occasion but different strokes for different folks I guess.
I know Save n' Quit has a compulsion but is it that hard for most people to talk about something without posting lewd screenshots?

They even cast the person who I thought would be best suited to voicing Kiyoshi! Hell, it's how I even imagined his voice would sound like when I read it.
It'll be nice to see what they have up their sleeves for this. They've done magical girl stuff pretty well, and I hope they get Abe to put in some awesome work on it.

But then none of the good cuts made it into the anime.
This Prison School PV looks really weird. Bare bones animation and weird colors. It will also take me some time to get used to this degree of silliness in the animated form.

So this went in a different direction than I expected. I was prepared for more Kohata drama. Instead I got something else. I got something special. As the episode starts, the audience is reintroduced to Kagari again. Only shes less crazy but still just as rude. Apparently though, being blonde (even dirty blonde) trumps most issues in Japan so shes popular. Also since everybody in this school is a freak with fucked up mental problems, Kagari having a foul mouth shoots her straight into the friend stratosphere. Yomi is seemingly fine with it as shes busy struggling with Mato having friends besides her. Well that is before the counselor gives Yomi the little push the bird needs to fly.
And fly she does.
Monopoly is where friendships go to die. Anyway we get more Kanahana being Kanahana, leading up to Kagari getting the knives out. Remember in this school if you show any signs of weakness, you get cuntpunted.
They at least could have made it Boardwalk or Park Place. Who cares about Baltic Avenue? Rent there is dirt cheap.
Kagari is taking this chance to break free from Yomi while Yomi learns that she actually liked yandere Kagari needing her. Whodathunkit? Something something wishes something something be careful. Yomi ends up snapping and hiding at the house. She wants Mato to rescue her and be her white knight despite Mato being sane and not realizing she accidentally joined this circus. What ends up happening though is Yuu turns out to be the straw that breaks this birds back.
Remember when there's blood in the water, the sharks come out to play.
Yomi realizes that she does indeed need Kagari for her own sanity runs to Kagari in the rain, only for Kagari to say, Im sick of your shit. Bye bitch. Ooops, should have put a ring on it.
This exact frame lasts three seconds shorter than the infamous Evangelion elevator scene. It clocks in at 33 seconds.

The descent into madness was well underway before this episode but it seems no brakes were applied, leading to Yomi just losing her shit. It's fairly obvious this was the direction the show was going but I was hoping it might be more of a slow burn. I should have known better. It really strikes me how much better this exact material was handled in the OVA, in that this was just raw melodrama not only in the writing but also the direction. I mean look at this:
The only person in this school that acts like a human is Yuu and I think that's because Okada hasn't gotten around to her yet more than anything else. I'm actually starting to enjoy watching the counselor go to work just ripping apart these students.
I find it pretty funny how the tables have turned on Yomi as Kagari is now more likeable than she is, both from the audience's perspective and also from the characters inside the show. Now don't get me wrong, Kagari is still just as sadistic as before but she's also smarter about it. Knowing that someone's down and twisting the knife takes a special type of person, doing it with a smile?
Legendary. What really made this episode transcendent though, was the despair faces of Yomi:
As good as left-over coffee sprinkled with tears of a junior high girl.

Thats the main problem with streaming. Ill never be fully happy with it because of this.
Well the fight scenes and any gifs involving Mirai because she is very very cute.
But otherwise no dont bother watching it.
Can somebody please explain why this is so anticipated? what is the plot? whats the appeal of it?

These fight scenes are fucking hilarious.
The anime is such a good experience hope you read all the LNs and mangas afterwards.
The ones about the blue side are highly entertaining
It's about endemic and legally sanctioned torture in japanese schools and the corresponding drastic lack of oversight from their Ministry of Education.
Too bad we won't get a second season of Prison School no matter what, it's simply impossible. Not even as a movie they could show the stuff that is happening now...
Still the first half or so that I think they will cover here is very very good and I prefer them anyway, the recent stuff is just so wtf.
- Proper plotting and planning, yeah the author thought of everything, the chain of events is great and hilarious.
- It's dirty comedy mostly, but it's good dirty comedy.
- Characters are great!
- The manga has great art!
I wonder if Hamaguchi is composing? it would so good if he does.
Still the first half or so that I think they will cover here is very very good and I prefer them anyway, the recent stuff is just so wtf.
