Makes me really curious about the manga its based on. All I know is that its a 4koma. I guess its even more just new recipe every chapter or whatever.

I enjoyed the anime, even if I would have liked to more plot.

This combined with Foodwars does make me wonder if all cooking based manga are food fetishistic like these are.
Funny that something like Nobunaga no Chef got a jdrama instead, but I guess that was too big for anime.
I had no idea that Koufuku was based on a 4koma though. It's kind of impressive that they got a decent slice of show out of it.

Can I get an anime episode about cooking where the lesson isn't that the secret is love and the desire to see others happy eating your food? It's like people never cook for themselves.

Feels weird having this be my first posted impression since I generally like it, but I guess I just haven't had that much to say about it. I can confidently say it's not as good as Aria.

Whistler is my favorite.

I've almost given up on Shaft when I saw that after Arakawa under the Bridge X Bridge they didn't produce things I was particularly interested in.

Now apparently they did last year and I didn't watch it, but it really seems to be getting good.

Mekakucity Actors Episode 2

I enjoyed episode 1 up until the point when it got to the
weird hostage plot.
The visuals are very impressive and the technology seen in the beginning left me excited for more.

rMSy64S.png

Episode 2 introduced a new character while providing her with enough background to make her interesting. The visual density of the first episode was carried over, naturally. If the title of the show bears any meaning for the art direction I'd say that a lot of the scenes in this anime look like carefully crafted Broadway sets. Very curious to see where all of this is headed. Oh, btw, why is there a Pokémon professor in this anime?

Milky Holmes TD 10

So, it's the confrontation with the evil woman who kidnapped and plans to kill Marine at the end of ep. 9 in order to get ultimate power and domination over the world! She wants to use the power from a lost floating island surrounded by impenetrable air, which she can access thanks to building five casinos is VERY impractical locations (Papua New Guinea, Alaska, Siberian Russia, Easter Island or something, one more) and using a sixth central casino under the island to get to it with magic and stuff. Yeah, it's a cliche plot, but it's done with a good mixture of comedy and drama. She kidnaps Marine because the special power destroys the soul of the person who takes it, apparently. So, use someone else with incredible luck. that'll get you the most power.

However, an android which keeps it secret is there to help Sherlock and the others. Sherlock is off to the skies with a robot girl, a woman from the previous episode who is the villain's daughter and has been discarded in favor of Marine because Marine has better luck, and Marine's idol friend; the other three main characters have to stay behind. I don't know if I like that, but.,.. well, the episode makes up for it. This episode has the best drama of the series so far, and also the joke I laughed at the most. The challenge game is somewhat hilarious!

On that note, yes, villain woman of course has one of Marine's spirits in her, this is Milky Holmes TD after all. And what do they play, but... a Yu-Gi-Oh! knockoff! Well, why not. I liked the first Yugioh series back in the early '00s, so I find this pretty fun stuff. Sherlock and evil woman play their game of copy-Yugioh, with all of the tropes and visuals I expect -- card games with serious consequences, monster summons, those arm things that hold cards, and most of all, ridiculous, absurd draws and powers.

I think I laughed more to the below moment than I have to any anime in a long time. Let's just say that Sherlock just happens to have the exact right card at the exact right moment to win the match with a "ridiculously specific ability", as the enemy complains about. Hilarious stuff. Yugioh was indeed absolutely full of this kind of thing. Oh yeah, and it was also pretty funny that Sherlock was so competent at this game! Usually she's kind of dumb, but not this time, she knows all the rules of this game without being told them, knows all of the cards' secret abilities, and gets the good drawing luck you expect from a Yugioh protagonist.

Note that at this moment the enemy has exactly 100 life points left and an Impenetrable Wall of Ice blocking her from being attacked. And of course Sherlock has the cards to summon that tank, use its secret ability to boost its power by 5000, use that power to break the wall, and use the 100 hit to win the match. :lol Yugioh was an amusing show sometimes. :)

In the end the good guys win, the villain turns good again as usual after the spirit is taken from her, the usual... except that getting the spirit out of her was a lot harder this time than in any previous episode. Once done though, they win...
only to learn that the android girl has to stay behind to protect the island. Sherlock and the android girl have a tearful parting.

So yeah, this is very much Milky Holmes TD, but I do think that overall this is the best episode so far. Only a few more to go, I hope they're also good. The floating island thing was kind of weird, but it works I guess, and the humor was funny and drama somewhat effective.

The best anime (Hidamari) is a 4koma too so I don't see how you're surprised!
I just can't imagine what a 4koma about cooking food would even be like. lol

You might as well ask them not to cry when they see something that reminds them of their past or something!

As for Aria, I'm not really complaining since this was as close as we got to more Aria (well, that an the Suzuki/Toyota/Honda bike OVA) ... well, until they announced the new OVA for the anniversary anyway.

Yeah I read the source. It definitely isn't what I would call a harem series. It focuses more on the development of the main character whose goal is to reach Aiza.

How about a quote from the actual LN then?
The fucking chapter list is a pull out of some soft core of the goddess's fondling each other.
Oh okay. Both these comments help.

I think it's pretty obvious how I could form the impression I did based off that first episode, for now.

Never doubt the power of SHAFT. Their direction is good.

Ah Hachiman. Missed you bro. It's like they didn't miss a beat. They just hit the ground running. No recaps, just pure SNAFU. Nice!

Funny. I thought there was a recap and I liked that. Not a large recap, but enough to jog my memory.

Is It Wrong to Try and Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? 1

Fun concept, boring execution. Too bad, figured this would be my LN dreck show of the season.

Totsuka is still the best. 8man is still grumpy. Just 8man bonding with Yukino and Yui during the trip to kyoto. Oh, and some dude try to court Fujoshi girl, but she only see him as his BL fantasy fodder for now.

Shokugeki no Soma 1

FOODGASM, literally! Good adaptation so far.

Can't understand what my husband 1

Yeah I read about that, pretty unfortunate. Apparently they weren't just thinking of making a second season, they were in full pre-production with all the scripts completed and the CG was already being made. Sounds like sponsors pulled out or something. :(

Dengeki has designs for the two new leads for the sequel and the new mech too: http://dengekionline.com/elem/000/001/033/1033754/

Looks perfect for Toonami!

Much ado about nothing ?
I don't mind them not being able to change the system but the flower guy doesn't even punish the schemers in any way. You'd think he would at least take out Decim as someone who has already been tainted with human emotions. The addition of the new rule feels pretty pointless given that human companion to assist in judgements was already such a rare case.

Chiyuki and most of Decim's parts were good, especially the dilemma he saddled her with.

Decentish show but not something that will stick with me. Episodic material was too weak to carry it and even the arbiter storyline wasn't particularly enticing.

Also, not sure if it was ever spelled out and I missed it but
can two people from the same "judgement" both get reincarnation ?
Fuck this system anyway but fuck it even more if that isn't the case.

Man, I'm so glad people warned me to keep my expectations low going into FSN after Zero. I wouldn't be able to handle the disappointment otherwise.

Do we expect something better of part 2 or more of the same?

I've seen it said that it gets substantially better in the second half of the story.

Epic music, nice production and cute girls.....that is quite rare for a harem show....will watch.

Oh man, I didn't expect so much shows to watch for spring season. Last year's spring was a disappointment.

Re-kan! - 01

This was comfy and a little spooky. Soundtrack was pretty catchy. I think the comedy bits worked well enough.
The occult thing is the main appeal to me, but I wonder if it'll have enough variations to not make it feel stale. Better than expected.

Re-Kan! 1

This is a 4-koma adaptation of a comedy centered around a girl who can see spirits and her classmates. It's pretty standard for this kind of adaptation and there's little attempt made to hide how it is a series of short sketches, but the humor was surprisingly good. I'm going to keep watching.

Early on there was this episode with the couple where the girl got a plastic surgery. Both of them were sent to reincarnation.

It obviously doesn't get anywhere near Fate/Zero quality but the plot moves faster and things of consequence actually start happening (i.e. masters and servants get taken out and the like). There are also some fights to come that should be pretty exciting given ufotable's treatment.

Oregairu S2 - 1

Nice visual upgrade across the board and the story doesn't miss a beat going straight into a school trip. Though I am not looking forward to the introduction of the new blonde girl. This really doesn't need to devolve into a harem.

Sailor Moon Crystal Episode 19:

I'll be honest, I always thought this part dragged and spun its wheels, both here and in the manga. That being said it is nice to see Sailor Pluto intact as I think one of the more egregious sins of the 1990s anime was the fact that they stripped her character down to almost nothing in the R season. On the inverse I think the 1990s anime ditching having three of the scouts out of commission was the better choice because their presence is sorely missed here.

It was to be without the Butcher's involvement, wasn't it?

And Chamber is dead anyway, why would you even want to watch it.

It is a social commentary that I feel is much more striking and provocative for Japan given some of their cultural provocativeness. There is a certain universality in the message though as societal norms will always exist.
