Square Enix asks fans about if Persona 5/FF15 were out at same time, release hint?

So I've heard. The style is just so off putting to me that I wouldn't care to try. My loss and that's okay. Lots of people will use a game's visual style to determine if they want to even bother giving it a shot. No different here.

What if Final Fantasy XVI had a really anime art style?

I would pass. I don't hold every game in the FF series on a pedestal. Far from it. If XVI went full-blown anime, I wouldn't give it a second look. Shallow? Perhaps. I just hate that particular anime style that much.

Absolutely Persona 5.

If Square-Enix wants to know if they should not release the same day, well I think they have an answer.

Atlus could also give SE some lessons on how to handle a brand. Persona being popular now is not just some huge game that put the series on the map, though P4 being exceptional certainly helped. Atlus did all these fan events, media related Persona stuff that little by little put the series on the map, it didn't take numerous spinoffs or brand damaging shit games like SE did with Final Fantasy and all those worthless spinoffs that ended up doing more harm than good to the brand. Plus the whole Fabula Nova Crystalis debacle certainly didn't help.

There's a lot riding on FFXV, and I certainly wouldn't want to be Tabata right now.

You got it twisted.

Atlus took a page out of SE's book and made a million spin offs to Persona 3 and 4. P3 has like 3 different versions, and like 4 movies. P4 has 2 fighting games, 2 anime (if you count the Golden version), a rhythm game, and a bunch of other nonsense. Pretty sure a fucking pachinko machine is being made. They just took the compilation of FFVII concept of taking an established (and incredibly popular) game and milking them in different forms of media. Then they went ahead and made PQ as a fan service-y way to say good bye to P3/P4.

So don't you worry P5 will probably be milked as well.

The main difference is most of the spin off Atlus put out are good, while like most of FF spin offs vary in consistency.

The good folks at Atlus who make SMT and all its spin-offs haven't burned me yet. The same can't be said for SquareEnix who have constantly burned me when it comes to FF for the past fifteen years.

So P5 is a day one for me. FFXV is barely on my radar.

My friend asked me yesterday actually, what I was more excited for....P5 or XV (hes new to both series and will be getting a PS4 for both).

I responded with "XV, but wouldnt be surpised if P5 is the better game because P4 is incredible".

FF7 and Persona 4 are two of my top 3 games of all time. They both hit and stick with me for different reasons. Its great to have both ends of the sprectrum, a high budget fantasy epic and also an amazingly crafted psychological sim.

You always tend to see a lot of fanbases getting quite personal and projecting why X game is/will be better than X game in these threads.

Both games will be a perfect entry point for both fanbases. Try something new and stop being so defensive. =)

I'll probably end up getting both, but FFXV would get priority if they both came out at the same time. I liked the previous Persona games, but I wasn't really bonkers over them or anything.

FFXV without a doubt, for me.

I think P5 looks great and extremely stylish, but P4G bored me to tears. Unless P5 radically shakes things up, I can't get excited about a homework/envelope folding/soccer practice dungeon crawler sim.

Persona 5's not going to make summer 2016 outside Japan (especially not in Europe) while FFXV's supposed to be a worldwide launch. SE will be fine.

I'll be really surprised if XV launches before the holidays though. I thought World of FF and maybe DQXI would've been in the summer slot for sure.

Atlus could also give SE some lessons on how to handle a brand.

Choosing between Dirge of Cerberus and Dancing All Night is like picking your poison, really.

Persona 5s world does look a hella more immersive and interactive than P4s.

Check out the latest trailer perhaps.

Tabata got two potential outcomes:

A) Going to get all the glory and become a premiere director at SE and getting Type-1 greenlit.

B) Going to get all the blame and his type-1 sequel gets cancelled and gets relagated to B-tier games or just another cog helping out projects.

I wouldn't be able to sleep if I was the man, so much pressure on this title to be successful and to steer the brand in the right direction. This game needs at the minimum 87-90 on the Meta. FF7r is basically SE get out of jail free card along with Disney pushing KH3.

The dungeons look way more dynamic in P5 based on trailer footage, hopefully they are all handcrafted and not randomly generated.

As for the social sim aspect, I'm more curious as to how they are handling that. How much it will vary from P3/P4.

Do you think Nomura sleeps like a baby? I am sure Nomura has much more shit to deal with than Tabata. Not only fans are looking forward to him for the next mainline KH game, he also needs to deliver on FFVII: Remake.

Tabata isn't getting it any easier but atleast he is closer to delivering on his goals. He can sleep easy knowing that he will finish and end this nightmare soon meanwhile Nomura is occupied until 2019.

FFXV easily, though it isn't really high on my list of anticipated Japanese RPGs either.

Persona is just doing too many things that I don't care for, unless 5 is changing things up.

Fight! Fight! Fight! Let them release close to each other and see FFXV wipe the floor. Time to show these Persona upstarts who the true king of jrpg is.

Persona 5 for me.

Im not even such a big fan of the franchise but when they really want to Atlus can deliver in both story and gameplay.
The only thing FFXV has going for it (at least IMO so far based on what Square has shown) are some really nice graphics

Oh, for sure. The latest trailer got me really excited for it. I think it looks great, and I'm definitely willing to give it another shot, despite not liking P4.

Tabata has next project already lined up. He confirmed through Dengeki and it won't be XV sequel or Type-1.
http://www.novacrystallis.com/2015/...nnaire-with-hajime-tabata-and-tetsuya-nomura/

Dengeki: What game do you want to make following Final Fantasy XV?

Hajime Tabata: A next game is definite. I want to challenge large-scale even further. It won’t be a sequel to Final Fantasy XV, or a series that follows the flow of Final Fantasy Type-0.

So he's getting to make another AAA game regardless of XV success.

AFAIK, Persona 5 ranked higher than FFXV in a recent Famitsu poll.
I mean, the fact that Persona 5 will be massive for the Persona series' growth was obvious the moment it was announced.

Guess so.Interesting turn of events. This never would've happened around the time of FFXIII for example.
the only thing I have learned from this site (that is not attributed to duckroll/nirolak posts) is to never use GAF to gauge sales before release.

This is not really GAF thinking P5 will be a match for FFXV,its actually Square Enix trying to gauge the sales in this case..

Persona 5.. That should give Square Enix enough time to finish FFXV properly. This is of course me being pessimistic that FFXV will also be episodic in nature just like ff7:re is.

Final Fantasy has been disappointing since 12, it's the king of nothing. 14 would be the only one worth anything since 12 if SE got their heads out of their asses.

Persona Fiiiiiiive.

I know the wait fans have had for FFXV is technically longer, but Persona 5's wait has been killer. A year before a teaser was expounded on. A year with some info. A year for release da--- HAH, pushed back, wait another year.

If it gets pushed back again for FFXV I may just go nuts. @_@

It looks like Persona will be delayed again...? My guess is that FFXV will be out for Holidays 2016 in Japan and they wonder if Persona is released at the same time.

Posts like these show how big of a perception problem SE has. They just assume they are going to screw everything up.

2016 will be a big year for SE.
