Both, no questions.
FF15 ive been waiting since it was versus 13 , persona 5 can fuck off for all I care.
I edited and included that shortly after posting. I don't really like Tabata but I don't hate his work either, and XV is still MOSTLY Nomura's project in terms of how much of it was under his control and got done before directors changed.Ehh you mean Tabata? Nomura is long gone.
It's not impossible it face plants. As far as I can tell Lightning Returns moved less units than Bravely Default. The suppose the math works out. I had the western sales lower in my head as the difference. The brand has fallen a bit, but mainly because I think the West in general has moved on and just doesn't see the appeal of Japanese games like that anymore. Sure I love them and want them to do well, but the rise of WRPG'S and western games in general over the last decade has hit their audience a lot and I'm not sure enough of them exist.
I also don't think the game has demonstrated enough to excite people either. That may change over the next year and I'll happily be wrong about the decline I expect. We'll see though.

That and the original release being declared for winter 2013!
That's not true at all. Catherine was a test for current generation (at the time) console development, but not for the engine. Plus, Persona 5's development was confirmed on March 24, 2010, with Hashino saying that he wanted to add elements in P5 different from previous games.
Plus, Persona 5 was even potentially hinted at on December 18, 2009, when Hashino talked about the teams working on Persona 4 Golden and Catherine progressively coming together as their games wrapped up development to work on "that."
YeeeepOne comes after Persona 2, 3 and 4...
The other comes after FF13, 13-2 and Lightning Returns
Lol at even asking.
Cane to post this, was not disappointed..Persona 5
Oh wait, I'm in Europe.
Question.
Can Persona 5 still impress with another trailer? The previous trailer was pretty beefy and it seems like a game that is much more low key than your typical Final Fantasy game.
On the other hand I still think FF XV can turn a lot of heads with significant gameplay trailers that will surely hype people up.
Coulda sworn I read somewhere that Catherine was a test for gamebryo for Persona 5(which they decided against). In either case, 5-6 years in development isn't really all that bad compared to most games. Not to mention a hint that development would start soon in mid december 2009 practically means it started dev in 2010.

However, the game at least appears to be in the correct general genre space for the West right now and with so few AAA games coming out, those that remain seem to move a reasonable number of units.
What are the Western AAA games coming out next year though, especially the WRPGs? I'm only mostly aware of the Japanese lineup.

?? What did it ever do to you??
Damn, Atlus (an AA game studio) got SE looking like

Thread seems full of Persona die hards who have never played a good FF, or FF diehards who haven't played Persona.
Seen many posts like that, I think members of each fanbase feel threatened by a title which could steal the limelight of something they've been anticipating for a long time. It's quite normal on GAF it seems and with fanbases in general.
Really silly considering how apples and oranges they each are and how both XV + P5 are great entry points for newcomers.
We'll probably see at least a 6-8 week gap between the two, so why not play both?

ff15s development history is a disaster
persona 5 is a sure thing

Kingdom Hearts 3
fuck persona 5 and FFXV
i think that is incredibly silly to assume.

It wasn't ever said that Gamebryo was meant to be the engine for P5. It's fully possible the Persona 5 engine was in its planning phases during Catherine's development.Personally speaking, after directing Catherine, I was supposed to prepare for making titles on HD consoles but thats a story from a very long time ago. Since then, weve worked together with the team staff on developing various titles, and each one has exceeded my expectations.
I've played FF 1-2, VI-X, X-2, XII, XIII, personally. I think you'll find a lot less people here who haven't played the prime of FFs than you'll find people who haven't played Persona. I'm not going both because I have no confidance in modern Square and I'll probably still be playing P5 when FF XV comes out unless they adjust their date, and even then I'd wait for a price drop.
True that, I think it's silly to put one against the other. We all love JRPG's here, let's hope they're both good and we can enjoy them.
Personally I always have a special place in my heart for both series.

I think that Persona has a lot if goodwill. The past games have been excellent while ff has been stained by ff13.
UC4, Mirror's edge, Deus Ex, Horizon, Rachet and Clank...
But yeah, next year is Japan's year. I don't think anyone sane can take it away from the Japanese developers laying it all on the table
Toriyama is the anti-Christ that brought despair upon SE.
P5 probably went through development hell. Its just been kept under wraps.
If SE had never even shown Versus to the public,if we'd known nothing till Tabata's reveal in TGS2014,would that suddenly indicate a smooth sailing development ?
You have to consider the enormous gap between P4 and P5.You can't possibly say that Atlus had no trouble at all managing this thing.

As has been said, the situations are different. P5's struggles had to do with company bullshit outside of the team's power, which they continued to chisel away at while that was happening around them.
Versus' issues on the other hand was the overambitious incompetence of Nomura before he was finally told "enough is enough, you're off the project", which led to a total rewrite, a combat reboot, and a bunch of other stuff that involved building shit on top of Versus' hollowed out corpse. Development was internally and externally a giant clusterfuck, whereas it was just external with P5 (based on what we know).
