Cut off the borders so it looks like a record.

I thought the rollout of PlayOnline for DS was confirmed.
At least in a meeting at Square just after GDC it wasn't a secret. Did I drop the ball?
:(

Nintendo's online plans allow you to play with people you know in real life pretty easily and that's one of the aspects that Wada really likes.

Is this really unique? I'm guessing this is possibly a hint towards larger wireless lans - across neighbours etc. - using broadcom tech. But the others, if they have wifi, should be able to do similar things (though broadcom's tech may be better for extending range, i don't know).

Also, wasn't Wada "excited" by Dolphin after its announcement too? ;) Though admittedly, he seems to be a little more specific in his comments here, and seems like he's clued into Nintendo's plans directly.

> Code Age Commanders is using the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles engine?

???? Just because the character design is similar (cuz same designer), that doesn't mean it's using the same graphic engine. Square almost never reuses game engines, it's one reason their development costs are so high.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you wrote, since you always seems so on top of square info. But Toshiyuki Itahana did Crystal Chronicles. Yusuke Naora is the character designer for Coded Age. ;)

Nope, Itahana is director and character designer for Code Age Commanders. Naora is the overall producer and art supervisor for the whole Code Age franchise.

If you look at the Famitsu scans - CHARACTER DESIGN: TOSHIYUKI ITAHANA, ART CONCEPT: YUSUKE NAORA

to provide context and counter-argument?

This is a thread about Square Enix liking Nintendo... what argument is there for counter?

About context, it would be something as a useful thread about the evolution of relations between Nintendo and Square. A poor, boring and 1000 times used trolling it´s hardly a "context".

Yeah, I know about the character designer, but the models in the game look *exactly* the same.

Well again, that's really a matter of modelling style and has little to do with the game engine (not that I agree, anyway). Except for the character designs, the visual style and game style look nothing like FFCC.

If it wasn't confirmed, it was all but confirmed... I certainly am not surprised by any "news" in this thread.

that maybe they don't? Sorry, didn't realise that some threads were simply statements of fact. Perhaps we can change the title to include --SOF-- to indicate when differing opinions aren't required.

the more I read the faster I want it to end...

Not to be pessimistic, but didn't we have news like this pre-gamecube release?

Didn't we have this kind of news during gamecube's release? (i.e. "FINAL FANTASY on Gamecube! 3 games announced!" and what did you get? A secret of mana with final fantasy name slapped on, and that's it)

Ehh, not really. Before March 2002 the closest was Square talking about releasing portable Final Fantasy ports, and Yamauchi saying he really doubted they'd come to an agreement.

There were rumblings that Yamauchi was talking to Square at Fall TGS 2001 (which I guess he was), and later in the year there was a denial from Square of any involvement with any Nintendo system. That was pretty much it. It was March 2002 that "Hell froze over," about 6 months after launch of Gamecube, and 9 months after the launch of GBA.

EDIT: You sound like a broken record. ;)
