STAR CITIZEN, Chris Roberts' (Wing Commander) New Game [$25 million funded]

I actually noticed this with the very last posts on the precious page, too. Very odd, since the kickstarter said it included it. You might have to up your pledge to the 35.- digital scout for that...

same with my pledge too. just checked the kickstarter page and it said that you will get access to alpha and beta with the 30$ pledge. very weird :/

My original Digital Scout Kickstarter has alpha and beta. However, if it makes any difference I had upgraded to an Aurora LX which brought my original pledge to $35 before migrating. This was also before I added any new ships to my hangar.

You can still do the $30 pledge and get all of the benefits

I found that searching for the particular ship gets all of the results. The menu system isn't very intuitive or useful.

Those are Veteran Backers. And it also doesn't contain alpha/beta access if I remember right. We're Original Backers, different things to select.

That's probably why.

You are right, doesn't contain alpha/beta access.

The difference between veteran backer tiers isn't easily communicated on the site.

Thanks for posting this! I upped my original Digital Bounty Hunter pledge to get the 325a instead of the 300i, and added an M50 also. Seems like I should be able to do some light trading and explortation with the 325a and use the M50 for bomber escort.

at the bottom of this page shows a good layout out of the different tiers. Is that what your looking for?

also I haven't decided on backing yet but what do the original backers get that currently the veteran packages won't?

Well you can't become an original backer anymore, if that's what you meant. Veteran Backer until November 26.

Original Backer: Slight discount on everything (about 10 dollars on all the packages) & LTI on ships
Veteran Backers: LTI on ships
Backers after November 26: No LTI

You seem to get everything when you pledge. I couldn't afford to pledge when crowdfunding originally started, but can now. I got Original/Veteran benefits.

I was looking at the Digital Bounty Hunter tier myself. Out of curiousity what are those other rewards? Are there pictures of the suit?

Hanger Fees Reward - Free Hangar Fees on starting planet

Original and Veteran Backers Reward - For the Digital Bounty Hunter, it's 2k Game Credits, Record Breaker Skin, AMX-1 Repair Bot, S42 Mission Disk

RSI Space Suit Reward - RSI Class II Space Suit with Test Pilot Colors

Just a very small photo of the top half of the space suit. Not sure if there is a larger picture on the main site someplace else.

I splashed down on a add-on constellation yesterday. Half of me is excited as can be, the other half wants to bring a hammer down on my head.

That brings my ship count to the:
digital bounty hunter (300i upgraded to a 325a)
the Aurora LX
and now the Constellation

I think that's the perfect amount of starter ships. I have something for everything, and it leaves everything else to get in-game.

Did anyone else see the channel 2 livestream with all the planes in-engine, alogside many of their animations?

http://www.twitch.tv/roberts_space_ind_ch_2/b/423335097

Go to 1:51:00 to see a first look "leaked" constellation inspection and its animation.

Oh god please I need it now. So freaking awesome.

Oh. It actually shows off some of the other ships, unlike when CR was showing off the Stella in the last hour of the main channel's stream. Awesome!

Found a better one with commentary by Chris Roberts.

Though watch out for the sound, something is wrong with it so I would suggest turning the volume down.

Gah, broke down and upgraded from just an LX, reclaimed my starter package and got an Arbiter package and bought an LX separately.

Still tossing up between a Connie, an Anvil, and a Gladiator. Hope they release some art for the bombers before the end of the week.

Guys, don't forget that you can earn ships in game too.

Eyup. Im gonna go for the Constellation as my Go To Card if I wanna play with friends. And if it blows up due to some silly antics it shouldn't feel as hard hitting to loose it, hopefully. All the other time I'm just gonna fly smaller craft on my own.

It sounds like Insurance isn't terribly expensive and you can insure it based on the level of risk.

If you are only going to level 3 zones, you can insure to that level and it will be cheaper.

Knowing what my friends usually does, whatever is the highest level is probably for the best. :p

Yeah, I don't trust myself that much :)

I appreciate where you are coming from, but my lack of skill in PvP can not be over emphasised.

One thing have been nagging me about these lifetime insurance ships. Compared to a ordinary insurance, is there any other difference other then I don't have to renew it? And as I look through the list it gives some stats about weapons and so forth, are these equipments included on the ship as you get it the first time and will these come with the ship every time you get a new one or will you only get a hull and perhaps a engine if you would loose the ship?

Overall, does the insurance just cover the ship or does it cover more of it?

It covers whatever the base equipment is. So for an Aurora LX, it would cover the missile launcher, but for lower models it wouldn't if you had added one.

And its the same between ordinary insurances and LTIs? Buy a ship and insurance it with in-game credits, loose it and you get the ship and the base equipment for it too?

I believe so. Not 100% on that, but I think you'll be able to tailor what is covered by your insurance.

Okay, a friend of mine has been a bit worried about that. She is kinda poor, but want to play this so much and at the same time don't feel like she gets disadvantaged for not affording LTIs.

Ah, thanks, Ill send that to her. How much longer do people have on getting LTIs? Was it the immediately after the site launched they would end it or was it the 6th of July or something?

If you buy a package/ship by July 6th, you get LTI. This will also award you the 'veteran backer' status, which means that any additionals ships you may buy until November 23rd will also have LTI included. If you become a backer after July 6th ... no LTI for you.

Someone correct me, if I'm wrong.

Am I the only one who doesn't care at all about LTI and stuff like that? Or even getting good ships from the start? I'd rather earn everything in game than buy my way in...no sense of accomplishment otherwise. And with LTI sounds like you can just fuck about without caring for getting killed since you get your ship back anyway. Not my idea of interesting gameplay.

Good for them that most people think otherwise though, since it funds the game.

I wanted my character to have left Squadron 42 having managed to work a connection with one of the unit's quartermasters to start the game with a surplus Hornet, so...that's happening. Because I'm a rp-ing giant nerd.

LTI probably isn't that big a deal, as hull insurance is going to be relatively cheap. Insuring the expensive upgrades isn't covered by LTI anyway and that's going to be the biggest setback when you get blown up anyway (which can be insured separately, but will be crazy more expensive.)

Anyone throwing money at the game should be doing it for getting the game closer to 100% crowd funded rather than going for the material rewards. That said, it's nice to get a few rewards for backing the game.

Also! You're supposed to be able to use your pledge ships in the dogfighting alpha, so some people will be able to try out ships they prefer earlier this way.

I agree completely, more fun to earn the awesome ships in game so you have that sense of accomplishment.

I do care. I will most of the time spend trying to start at the bottom and work myself upward. The Constellation pledge I make is to have a ready ship for those moments I would like to hook up with friends and do some co-op missioning with them right away and with less risk. As of now, it would probably take a couple dozens of hours before it is possible getting near one.

And I really wanna fund this game. Its one of those games I have really wanted to see for a long time, especially after several failures of trying to get into EVE Online.

I believe I've struck a balance between wanting to use some stuff early, wanting to throw money at a genre that's been dead for a while and wanting to slowly work my way up.

I'm also not too certain how characters will be handled so I'm holding off a while before making any final decisions. I'm fairly certain most of my early online play will be with a small group of Pirates. If I play as a pirate why would I bother with some other ships :p

Perhaps I'll gift my Aurora and M50 to myself on another account.

Have they further clarified how Squadron 42 will interact with Star Citizen? I remember them pitching it as you can earn citizenship for your character in the campaign and then go into the multiplayer space. I'm curious if you'll take some of your campaign ships with your or not.

I'm not sure how much I'll end up playing the Star Citizen part so it'd be nice to come into it with a decent lineup of craft to play around with from the start.

I think the main difference is if you play through Squadron 42 you get a better sense of the game world, and the aim is for you have a bottom barrel starter ship (or enough money to get one) at the end of the campaign. Where if you skipped it and went straight to the multiplayer for Star Citizen, you would have no ship and have to work contracts and so forth to build up money to get one... which actually sounds a little like the Squadron 42 game just without the story behind it.

I don't think you'll carry over any ships from Squadron 42 into Star Citizen. Just some credits AFAIK. No idea if they'll be enough to buy a ship right off the bat.
