So why is he so young and able to join Starfleet?
Edit: Not saying you are wrong, just that nothing feels like it fits at the moment.
Actually as we saw in ST09, people in middle age seem to join Starfleet pretty regularly.

Nah, the eugenics war was in the 90s.
What about Voyager time travelling back to '97?
Didn't the writers try to explain it off, the wars didn't hit america and all the conflicts around the world we have actually had were orchestrated by these genetically engineered guys who also took part.
Or something, lol.
What about Voyager time travelling back to '97?
Who gives a shit who he is. I thought that by now people would have learned to stop buying into the Lindelof/Abrams secrecy ploys. Whoever it is, it won't nearly live up to the time you're putting into worrying about who it is.
Abrams' films are enjoyable for the story and never, ever the plot points he shrouds in secrecy - which always fall short.
thats what they said. the eugenics wars were pushed back to the 2030's but the 90's were the start of the minor conflicts.
Voyager is terrible. ST4 is not.
Oh wow. I must've stayed up too late because I didn't even notice it.Then read the article in the link.
If you don't want to do that then...It should be noted that the characters only appearance was in TAS and it involved aging backwards.
They were so close to doing this in Enterprise. Emperor Tiberius isn't my first choice to bring Shatner back, but I'll take it.funkystudent said:If they can somehow combine the mirror universe story with a time travel story they could get Shatter in it as Old evil Kirk.
What about when Enterprise travelled to the noughties?
It was another one of Captain Picard's terrible dreams.
So Seven-of-Nine is some fantasy of Picard's?
If they can somehow combine the mirror universe story with a time travel story they could get Shatter in it as Old evil Kirk.
We're just having fun, dude.
Besides, this is Star Trek. Speculating and handwringing about Trek predates the Internet.
The whole mirror universe needs to be incorporated somehow.
I need me some Spock goatee.
So Cumberbatch is playing a brand new character
and he decided to spice it up with most frigid of all frigid women.
So Cumberbatch is playing a brand new character which I figured. LOL @ the people who kept holding up some old interview with the writers that said he was a character from the canon.
Wait, where did they say that?
Did you not read the last page? He's playing some new guy named John Harrison
lmao.
Did you not read page 28? This is not new.
Next you'll be telling me that Marion Cotillard played Miranda Tate in TDKR.

Soran traveled back in time to warn Earth about the Borg who destroyed his home
despite them still being far out in the Delta quadrant, and probably before they built the transport hub
did you know there's a TOS manga that suggests an origin of the Borg?
if it's Soran we can expect a Whoopi Goldberg cameo
There could even have been 2 Guinans- 1 in First Contact's time and 1 present Guinan! It still blows me away that she wasn't in First Contact. Hers literally had the most invested interest in the Borg of all recurring characters that I can think of.

wut if cumberbatch was zephram cochran being helped by the companion
Talking to MTV, Benedict Cumberbatch did some reveals about his character John Harrison in Star Trek Into Darkness, saying "he is a terrorist." And fueling to speculation he says "He has extraordinary physical powers, but also mental powers. He can sow an idea, which is as powerful as gunshots or close-hand combat, which hes masterful in. He tears into the fabric of both the world and the Enterprise family, and he leaves behind him a trail of devastation. Its quite exciting to watch.
With the reveal that Alice Eve is playing Carol Marcus, Chris Pine was asked if he has a love interest in Into Darkness, and Pine said "so much happens, the action and plot is so fast, there really isnt much time for Kirk do do anything but save the crew." However he did note that "Kirk loves a blonde" so there is some "flirting" at least. But more importantly, Pine revealed that Marcus "scientific knowledge" is a key to resolving the crisis posed by Cumberbatchs John Harrison.

Still doesn't answer who the villain is but makes Khan possible.
Really? Basically none of that sounds like Khan to me in any way. Khan's not a terrorist, he's a ruler. He's got a strong force of personality, but he doesn't have what sounds like borderline mind control powers. He's certainly not a telepath or an empath or anything like that.
If everything they've said is true AND he's Khan, he's a really really different Khan.
I think I'm enjoying all this crazy speculation more than I will enjoy the movie.
But seriously, it's driving me a little nuts that we have two revenge plots already, but the characters haven't really even done anything yet to warrant people wanting revenge against them! One of the downfalls of the TNG films was the repeated Khan aping. A vengeful bad guy doesn't automatically make a good or fun story!
I don't think they're necessarily implying telepathic powers, it could just mean he's really cunning.
One debate over a new addition to the cast can now be confirmed. Alice Eve is indeed playing Carol Marcus. In the original Trek movies, Marcus was a former love of Kirk and mother to his son. However, since this takes place before Kirk has a son, youd imagine this film could be their courting period. In a deviation from the canon, though, Marcus is now a member of StarFleet.
that outfit looks really weird too.
Harrison will be revealed as the kid Kirk sped by in the corvette who wanted a ride. After all those years of being snubbed he has his revenge
Still doesn't answer who the villain is but makes Khan possible.
So we know they are indeed changing her character, she's not just wearing the blue uniform at some point. This is a change to canon that can't be easily explained by Nero. Unless you go with a ripple in the pond chaos theory. Either way, all bets are off.

There's a deleated scene from the film. That was supposed to be Samuel Kirk, Kirk's brother.

Villain is Samual Kirk confirmed. They did say it was a very personal fight for James Kirk.
I never got that either. And Internets and everything was because Ed Bagely got hold of Star Trek tech? Where was Khan and the genetic supermen and Sarah Silverman knows about the future! What about Voyager time travelling back to '97?
