Star Trek Online Free to Play |OT| Boldly freeloading where others have subbed before

Can we see stats for these anywhere? I don't see them on the wiki after a quick look. I don't think I'd even care for the shields, cause they're ground and meeeeeeeeh ground. I'll live with my MACO ones, unless these are just ridiculously better. (Edit: ok, other than the store now =P, and for future items?)

Also, man, still working on Darksiders 2, Sleeping Dogs, and Fall of Cybertron just came out. Haven't been getting in my daily max dilithium farm -_-

I've only got the Jem'Hadar ground set. I've not really run the ground STFs since I tend to get crappy PUGs when I do bother.

I might try them again decked out in Ultra-Rare fleet gear...

Good way to deck out in ground is to do space STFs and ground buy stuff with chips and tech. You won't get the set parts, but MKXII generic borg stuff is good enough.

Don't go with PUGs unless you have to. Try to join the channel EliteSTF which is full of people who's doing eilte STFs all day, best source of dilithium (1100 each run) plus the possibility (a little one) of the best gear of the game.

BTW, Hi everybody, first message

I can PUG the space Elite STFs with my eyes closed generally (the optionals being the only real issue). I'll probably give the channel you mentioned a whirl when I get the inclination to run the ground missions.

Have they fixed Armek in The Cure? He was pretty broken and unkillable for quite a while.

While the space ones are the easy STFs and can do it with PUGs, hell, I had done ISE with optionals and only 4 man team, for the ground ones I recommend, first, know what you have to do it, and second a group that knows too and that they aren0t gonna run away of you fail the opt.

You can change 120 chips for a full MACO/Omega/KHG ground set wit the remodulator included. That helps a lot. And, no, Armek si still the hardest boss to beat, I only know of 2 methods, the shotgun one, and it's more than a lottery with the orbital attacks and the sniper one and the last part with the shields he pop from nowhere it's a hell, but with the adequate team you can do it many times without anybody running away.

Just a note, we should probably avoid the Military Operational Assets Provisioning project entirely for now. I don't know if the assets are really high in demand, if the doffs are really that rare, or if people are buying them all out and inflating them, but common sensor officers averaged half a million EC on the exchange the last time I checked, and that project requires 30 of them.

Hopefully by tomorrow, we will have completed our First Tier of Fleet Ships

Swing on by in the afternoon and check out the Fleet Base and Shipyard, let us know if you get a Fleet Ship and how she handles

Remember the good ol' days when we used to post pics of our ships and characters and shit?

While I was banned for awhile, I had a chance to acquire the Sao Paolo version of the Defiant... it comes equipped with the Quad Phaser Cannons that are iconic for the Defiant besides its cloaking device.

I have transformed my previous Defiant (the U.S.S. DOMINANT) to resemble the Sao Paolo skin as it is a bit more unique looking than the standard model which can be acquired at even Captain level. It is outfitted in a complete MKXII M.A.C.O. set.

So now I have the Quad Phaser cannons and the Cloaking device, and now even the authentic Belfast/Defiant Bridge and interiors... I am as close to having the actual Defiant in game as possible.

Here be my loverly ship orbiting DS9 with the wormhole looking yonder

How is the GAF fleet doing with fleet marks?

It's bottlenecking me, big time. I don't have the the inclination to grind it out anymore. In fact, I probably only done around ten FM missions in the past month, im so sick of it. I've run out of free FM from the fleet week event, and trading in doff CXP. Even the FM booster is relatively useless, needless to say my fleet projects have "grinded" to a halt.

I was thinking if you guys have FM's to spare and an alt toon maybe you would be receptive to a trade? Fleet marks in exchange for something like say... fleet ship modules, lock box keys, or something else?

I think I saw my first Fleet version of the Defiant retrofit, it blew my mind

It must be nice to have a super active fleet

I know I am not one to talk, I don't have it in me to "grind" for materials

The STFs have killed my will grinding towards MK 12 gear

I think Fleet Marks and Purple DOFFs are our biggest bottleneck. I mean we're not overflowing with Dilithium as our Timed Special Projects backlog shows... but we get by on the main projects.

I have a KDF character not in a fleet - if yours is KDF I'd be happy to donate them in lieu of them going to waste!

My new money-maker: running Romulan Temple to loot Romulan Ale.

Speaking of which, where is everyone on the Romulan Ale / Dosi Rotgut front? I've got 11 Ale, 4 Rotgut in the bank. Is it 250 of each need should we run the Bartender fleet project?

Dont run the project, dosi it's hard to come by. The only way to get it reliably that I'm aware of is the last tulaberry chain doff assignment. It costs 3 tulaberries and you get one for a success, three for critical. You can also occasionally get rom ale, and dosi from the confiscate contraband doff assignment.

Well, we're only going to run it if we have the required amount of each. I'm banking about 90% of my exchange Ale and Rotgut profits for it. I kind of assume that at some point it will be accidentally added as the upgrade project and we'll *need* to clear it somehow.

In the interim, you can make healthy profits on the exchange with Ale and Rotgut... if you know when it's a seller or buyer's market.

I've got around 200ish Romulan ale and maybe 60 Rotgut. If we're never going to run the project I might just start selling them.

I'm not sure if it's permanent or not, but the devs put the 50 Fleet Mark reward back onto the Investigate Officer Reports daily mission. Since you should already be doing it once a day for the dilithium anyway, it's a great way to earn marks for the fleet at the same time. If you're not aware, there are Foundry missions that are deliberately easy just for getting the daily done in less than a few minutes. For the Federation side, search for Easy Peasy under the Community Authored missions. There are three versions you can queue up, all of which have the same objective: walk anywhere near the tailor on Earth Spacedock. If you have some Federation alts, you can have them join the fleet as well just to contribute those extra marks.

And I'm back in.

I missed my escort ship. :3

I'm currently equipped with a full MACO XI set and a full set of anti-proton Borg heavy dual cannons. Is that still the standard fit?

There's always Mk XII. ;)

There are now various pieces of fleet gear that you can get as long as your fleet is at a high enough level and stocked with provisions, although they require fleet credits and dilithium to buy even with the provisions. The higher end fleet stuff does look like it will greatly outclass the Mk XII STF gear, although we're not nearly to that level yet. Also, from what I've seen, the ground gear doesn't have any set bonuses like the MACO and Omega Force ground gear do.

There are also fleet versions of some of the ships, but we need to get to the Tier 3 shipyard at the very least before we can access the good ones. For example, the Fleet Tactical Escort Retrofit (Defiant) is basically the same as the C-Store version, but with an extra tactical console slot, and 10% more hull. For the ships you also need fleet ship modules, which you can get from the C-Store or buy from the player exchange.

I prefer to go maco shield with the 3 borg set. As for weapons 3x phaser DHC (even with the nerf) with a quantum torpedo.

Welcome news! As a fleet of one who refuses to do anymore FM missions I can finally go back to building my castle. Cryptic finally realized the fleet marks were the biggest bottleneck in castle building, considering all the money they would leave on the table not surprised they did.

Why Phaser over anti-proton? And why do you prefer the Borg set? From a stats perspective, it seems that MACO set is slightly better.

Also, I would be interested in a fleet invite. :D

Phasers are good for keeping canon for Fed ships

Anyone familiar with this Raptr thing with which STO is linking? All I know is it's some sort of achievement tracker or something, and now if you link with your account you get rewards of some sort.

That's basically what it is.

You run it, it tracks how long you've played the game and what achievements you have, and compares it to other people who run the same game. "You are now experienced in Star Trek Online. Play X more hours or get Y more achievements to level up to hardcore. Play Z more hours to become the #1 player on Raptr!"

And then there are certain in-game rewards you can get for playing a game. Like "reach Hardcore status in this game and you can redeem a weapon pack!"

There aren't very many rewards, though.

Highlights from the recent Q&A:

The Edge Mistress: When will we expect the next set of Episodes for our already existing Factions ? What happened to Sela with the Iconians ? Will we see it at the perspective of the Federation, the Klingons or the rumored Romulan Faction or all of them ? There has been plenty of Federation game store starships released after the Odyssey and Bortas, will there be ones for the Klingons ?
Dstahl: Season 7 is going to reveal more information about what *might* have happened to Sela as well as dive deep into the aftermath of the Romulan Feature Episode series. In addition, we are planning a big story update for Season 8 which will futher other story lines, but we aren't sharing any details about that yet since it is further out.

Xyphus: Currently, there are only Borg-related STFs. Are there any future plans to include Tholian or Iconian based STFs? Iconians play a large role in several of the PvE missions, and of course the Tholians are making a strong showing with the launch of the Starbases. But the STFs have pretty much been left untouched. It would be great to have some new STF missions and gear to go along with the two enemy factions.
Dstahl: STFs are getting a make-over in Season 7 and becoming part of the new Reputation system. Similar to how Fleet Progression works, individual players will now be able to run Omega Fleet Reputation specific missions (e.g. STFs) to earn items that they can spend on increasing their Reputation with the Omega Fleet in order to unlock rewards. Once this new feature is released, we intend to add new Reputations and associated missions that provide inputs (drops) for that new Rep.

skywise12: i have a question mr.stahl will you at sto raise the cap levels anytime soon?
Dstahl: Sorta - let me explain. Before the end of this year we will introduce the Reputation system which is a max level progression system that will allow you to expand your Captain's career and offer new rewards. This doesn't up the skillcap yet, but we do eventually plan to do that in the future, but we have a lot of new end game content to build first so that there are new STFs and missions to do once the level goes up.

thesaxlad: Is there anymore news as to when the New STF (Into the Hive) will be coming out for Holodeck consumption- and what its reward will be? (Ground and Space)?
Dstahl: Into the Hive = Season 7 - tbd on rewards as they haven't been finalized yet.

As medalion already mentioned, borg set powers increases survivability. As for phaser, it has the best proc in the game( shuts down a random subsystem). AP doesn't have a proc, it just slightly increases the crit damage.

So, what are the current ways to generate dilithium?

Specific away missions? STF and elite STF?
Always run the Officer Reports mission. Make sure you complete 3 community missions (search for GOF or 'easy') and you can earn 1440 dilithium and 50 fleet marks in seconds.

Speaking of Officer Reports...

I've just published my latest mission "Fieldwork" [ST-HPFYBU6ZQ]. It's a kind-of-sequel to my last missions "Uplift" for Feds and "yln Chen" for Klingons.

It might still be in Review phase if you search for it, so you may have to become a reviewer (not a big deal, just means you get to see missions with less than 5 reviews).

Would be great to get feedback!

I was quite surprised to find this last night but I was checking the Exchange for anything to do with the Mirror Universe

Turns out there are Mirror Universe boxes that contain the Mirror Universe star cruisers in em

I actually bought one for a lil over 200,000 credits

and it was a full fledged Mirror Universe star cruiser that was modelled after the Sovereign class ship

I've been flying it around, and it has this Yellow pattern all over the ship to distinguish itself from the regular Fed ships

Other than the look, it doesn't seem to have any other particular benefits, but for something around 200,000+ ec's you could have a Sovereign class type ship at your disposal... not bad.

I'm going to start putting the military project for 500 xp and 5 ship requisitions up while science projects are down during the special projects. I've heard that the equivalent provisioning project goes up in price every tier higher, so we might as well get a bunch of provisions in while they're cheap.
