I think I'll stick to my Green Man Gaming preorder this time as my Fallout 4 drive hasn't waned at all yet, however I won't be using them in the future for preorders... First Amazon now this.

Pretty soon I'll start waiting for ALL games to drop to <$20 at retail or Steam...

Are people playing Jakku already?

I think the reason it is being held back may have more to do with a Disney marketing/release schedule for Force Awakens content than EA shenanigans. Though the fact that they let you play it early with a preorder is shenanigans.

I think the content was always meant to be part of the main game.

Nope. People aren't. It's just a joke in the thread about adjusting the PS4's clock to play the pre-load early (EU to US).

Are people taking the jokes seriously? 0_o

Okie doke, I pre-loaded on Origin the other night. My time with it through EA Access was very helpful.

$40 is the right price for this.

According to some posts, yeah people are playing Jakku.

Timing it with the movie makes sense so in that regard I understand. Like you said though, they are giving early access to those who pre-ordered so movie timing loses a bit of ground. I suppose 2 weeks isn't THAT much time prior to the release

I don't understand how so many people are already playing the game. And I don't mean the EA Access thing, I mean full version of the game being played on PS4, ONE etc... What the heck am I missing again? This happened with Halo 5 too, seemed everyone and their ancestors were already playing the game a week before launch.

Is this becoming a "thing" nowadays??

Our uncles work at EA. Yours doesn't? Loser.

Joke, I only got to try it because of EA Access T_T

Is the game live already in any part of the world other than EA Access? I have bought it on PC via Mexican Origin so was hoping to play a bit earlier than the 19th.

Mom and pop stores don't give a damn. If you live in or near a major city, you should have more than a couple available to you.

People buy the game early from a mom & pop shop. A lot of us have hook ups. Get yourself a hook up.

I have a flea market near me that's always good for early games.

Why is the minimap so broken in this game. Its useless now.
Atleast put the footstep sound up or something because you get shot in the back the whole time because of that.

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
I didn't get an email from GMG. Weird.

Green Man Man Gaming sent me an email to let me know that they aren't sure they can fulfil my order before the game releases.
Great
Edit: it seems I am not the only one getting these emails, damn, I should have bought from Mexican Origin trough VPN

Asked for a refund from GMG yesterday, they confirmed they would refund me but it could take a couple of days before the money was back in my account. Bought it from Origin (Mexico) for even cheaper... don't really know why I didn't in the first place.

I was hoping to get the key on the 17th like I was informed when I pre-ordered it (I'm from Europe, I know it releases on the 19th but if I had the key earlier I could use a VPN), then they changed it to the 19th, now maybe 48h after the 19th release for some... yea, nope.

Still the Empire. Empire is still around by this time. Vader and Palpatine are dead, but the rest of the Empire is good.

I know it's still the Empire but I am thinking of actual characters you can play as. Vader, Palpatine and Fett are all dead. Unless there will be no hero or villain pickups on that map. Or, more likely, they don't really care and it will still be one or all of those three.

I did just this, got the deluxe PC edition for 44.99. GMG will refund me 49.99 in 2 days so WOO. About to go preload now.

Can we use a VPN to play early? If so what time (sorry if this has been asked a million times)

You can play as Boba Fett on Endor so I can only assume there won't be any missing heroes or villains in Jakku.

Oh, I have no idea.

So while I'm waiting for my greenmangaming refund, I'm thinking about Mexican Origin. Do I use my address, or a Mexican one?

UK is the 19th, some games unlock first in Australia/NZ so you can use a VPN, just wondered if that was the case that it had launched already in those territories.

Oh gotcha, you made it sound as though those of us who had purchased using a VPN through Mexico weren't officially unlocked until the 19th.

I think someone said something about oceanic a few pages back.

Haha, I realised when I read it back that I made hardly any sense, and also forgot that most folk aren't in the UK timezone!

You use your Origin account with your normal details. So nothing is different except that you're using a VPN to have a Mexican IP just to get the game in your cart. Then you switch back and pay.

For those planning on playing early on pc via VPN, what vpn are you going to use? Korea? And does it matter where the game was purchased from?

I've purchased from mexican origin but I'm in the UK. I'm hoping to give it a try when I get in the door in 3 hours.

Once it goes live on pc I'd be very interested to hear if it's actually possible to play online too, or if it's single player modes only.

I've been playing the EA Access trial and I have to say I am impressed.

I think the 'casual' approach is perfect for this game. Star Wars has a massive appeal and will draw people that aren't Battlefield/COD/Titanfall/Halo players and therefore the approach that DICE has taken to make it broadly accessible is a big win for the player base and longevity of the community. In my opinion of course.

As for the game itself I am in love. It looks and sounds absolutely perfect. It feels and plays fine. The on foot action is accessible and also allows for a level of skill that will see good players stick out from the crowd. The vehicle controls are also great, with the ship to ship combat satisfying and challenging in dogfights.

Walker Assault has been refined from the beta and is now fair, balanced and fun as a Rebel. Teamwork means you'll win matches more often than you'll lose so communicating teams have a distinct advantage. I've spent almost all of my time with the game (6 hours so far) in Walker Assault and I cannot get enough.

The only other mode I've played is Fighter Squadren and it just makes me wish space combat was included in the game. The ships handle really well, dog fighting is great and the inclusion of the Falon and Slave makes for an interesting wildcard.

Overal I am thoroughly enjoying the game and having little to no latency or lag issues playing from Australia.

Bravo DICE!

But Fighter Squadron is basicly space combat, difference is the Background isnt black :p

Besides that, i fully agree with you :)

I have a question... If I purchase EA Access this month can I try the game for 10 hours after it is fully released? I still want to try a taste but I wasn't sure if the trial was only meant before it's released tomorrow

Haha this is true.

I guess what I'd like from fighter squdren is 20v20 with in atmosphere and space combat. Real time transitions and differing objectives (defend a base on the ground/escort a transport into space/take down a star destroyer in space, etc).

Maybe DLC?

You know what would be neat, DICE. A Titan-like mode with a Star Destroyer, or the Death Star as the "Titan".

I'm sure we'll get space battles in some form in the season pass. They could make levels in the asteroid field and around the two Death Stars!

My girlfriend is going into the hospital for surgery this week so my time to play has dropped significantly. I'll just go with less sleep so I can get some time in this week lol

I've saved just enough of my EA Access trial to carry me through midnight tonight. Excited for all of my friends to hop on with me.

I'd also like some of the battles from the prequels. The fight above Courasant, the Battle of Naboo. Could even have the fight between the Clones and Droids from Attack of the Clones.

Geonosis in BF2 was my go-to relax shooty game and map ;)
Vehicles were so much fun.
