wants to fuck an Asian grill.
Finn is such a let down of a character. Like what the fuck. Had an interesting premise and they completely fumbled it.

- portrayed as a bumbling fool.
- friendzoned by the main chick that he cared for so she could get with the serial killer villain who tortured her.
- paired up with the chunky asian chick in the most forced romance of all time.
- has a sister now too so she can take a percentage of his screen-time.

I thought the idea of diverse casting was to bring in new fans who like seeing representation in film and identify with characters of their own background. Well why would a young black kid want to give a fuck about star wars when it treats the black guy as a joke?

Luke was the scruffy white conservative. Kylo was a black mask wearing antifa, of course he gets the girl. Er at least that is the way they looked except Kylo was supposed to be the evil alt right dude but not really I guess....

I'm complaining about a character arc because of their character arc. He got cucked in the most traditional sense of the word by his love interest going for the guy who tried to kill him. I just figured if they were gonna push for diverse casting they would use it as an opportunity to have a cool black protag lol but he ended up being the black sidekick in those old buddy cop movies.

I don't see how he'd be any less the sidekick because Rey has romantic feelings for him. Heck, the actual protag of the OT not only gets cucked by one of the only two girls in the universe but she turns out to be his sister.

Assuming everything that leaked is true, I mean, after the TLJ train wreck maybe it's about the best they could have done in terms of salvaging things. BUT the one thing that's fucking unforgivable is this Rey/Ben kiss assuming it's real. This should not be a damn love story between them. Whatsoever. Horrendous. Any anyone who is/was a Reylo shipper... there's something wrong with you.

Oh, I guarantee it. RoS will be seen as JJ kowtowing to the toxic fandom I'm sure, with TLJ being "the true masterpiece".

So I said in another post but WTH with force healing/raising the dead?

This was the basis for Anakins faustian deal with Palpetine. And it was even a trick by Palps and made out that it couldn't really be done. I mean if some no bodies with barely any training can heal/raise the dead why didn't Yoda revive more dead Jedi after order 66? Why didn't Palps bring back Darth Maul while sucking Maces life force? WTF is this BS that Jedi can raise the dead.

Its the same shit with the PT, this movie basically makes the first 2 useless. You can ignore TFA/TLJ and it would make almost no difference. PT was the same way where ROTS ended up making the first two useless.

This also points out that RJ killed the franchise. Look I think the actual plot could of been interesting. If the pitch for the new triology was that Palps survived somehow and now he is trying to turn his granddaughter to the dark side while Leia/Hans grandson is a tweener you could of made 3 decent movies from that premise. I would even raise you one and have Palps surivive but have to be in Vaders suite so you would get Vader+Emperor, a 2 for one.

First movie would of set up the mysteries, 2nd movie we learn that Palps is back and Rey is his grandaugther. and the 3rd would be the big finally. Luke could of sacraficed himself to save Rey+Ben like how ObiWan was defeated by Vader in ANH.

Instead RJ killed the second movie and JJ had to cram 3 movies into this one to end the series.

Rian Johnson 100% killed the series. Although I don't know what it's going to take for the media to admit that fact.

It sounds, like you say, that JJ has crammed all his ideas into this one and maybe they should have had more room to breathe.

Lucasfilm had everything lined up to make this trilogy amazing.

Modern technology, the original cast still alive, years of EU material to draw on, talented film makers... The list goes on.

I can't see any way it's not regarded as one of the biggest fuck ups in cinema history once it's all said and done.

There's your problem - Finn was a guy. In the SJW hierarchy, regardless of being white, black, gay, or even trans (FTM), men are always at the top of the hierarchy and need to be punished and brought down.

Someone did a TFA revisit yesterday I watched and I forgot that JJ had Rey and Han Solo finishing one another’s sentences! LOL I had to look up a clip just to confirm this actually happened. It did. LOL just fan fiction level writing. So insane the same guy ruined Trek and Wars

When the first TFA trailer came out, Finn looked like a badass, and the trailer left you with the impression that he could be a jedi.

Ever since he has been treated like a fucking joke. If you compare the trio here to the OT trio, where does he fit in.

Finn is unfortunately the most wasted character in this entire thing. TFA atleast sets something up. TLJ just made him comic relief and took away a potential heroic sacrifice.

this is what pisses me off the most. Rian's version of Finn seriously makes me question if he is a secret racist. he's a walking joke, a coward, a clueless idiot, too stupid to even commit suicide. Finn is always questioned as a traitor, by friend and foe alike, even after risking his life to destroy Starkiller Base, even after risking his life AGAIN fighting Kylo and getting slashed up the back with a lightsaber. "LOL he's a janitor".

you want to go for an "anyone can be a Jedi" message? how about cut it with the classist bullshit? how about "just a janitor" get a chance to be a hero? nah, just clown him. Rian is a bullshit artist who doesn't even understand his own themes.

the last 2 years having TLJ defenders answer any criticism of Finn with "he was always a joke" didn't do any favors. so he was always a shitty character? he was never meant to be a big part of the story? oh boy that makes me feel so much better. so he was just a minority used cynically to attract an audience?

i mean LOL so many "racists and bigots" have made this criticism, trying to point out the problematic elements of portraying the first POC lead as a bumbling coward. but they are racists, cos they don't like the movie! funny how when you remove all nuance from discussion you can easily sort people into these categories and manage the outrage in advance. i'm guessing we will hear a lot from black writers about how poor the representation has been after this whole shitshow is done.

Finn didn't go to Starkiller base to be a brave hero, he did it for Rey, he specifically says so. He then gets beaten by Kylo, he doesn't have much of an arc in the first film beyond finding someone to care about. TLJ gave him the arc of finding something to believe in, the resistance and he does. His final act while stopped by Rose was anything but cowardly. Not to mention him getting the better of Phasma. Complaining about how big a role he plays is kinda weird, you know they sidelined Han in Return of the Jedi right? Lando gets to blow up the Death Star, Luke fights Vader and Han and Leia just take down a power station, it totally felt like the least of the three plots. Did Han get a big hero moment in RotJ at the climax? Don't recall anything special, do recall his ass getting saved by someone else. But hey, weird criteria to judge films by all the same.

This is all well and good, but we're losing sight of an important reason these films exist: so that JJ and Rian could fulfill the childish wishes of their industry/celeb friends by allowing them cameos.

I for one think that the torpedoing of a beloved franchise is worth it if it put a smile on the faces of Daniel Craig and Edgar Wright for once in their wretched lives.

so Rey is shown levitating with tons of rocks floating around her. so that was the original ending of TFA! Luke was going to have floating rocks around him. the only reason it isn't is because RJ told JJ to change it. LOL the man is so bad for SW he even makes other movies worse.

so now we have Rey doing this thing that Luke was going to be doing at the end of TFA. but way better, of course. good god what a shitshow.

You summed up everything I’ve ever thought about Finn. Maybe it’s just me but I STILL can’t be bothered to care about any of the new characters.

He's C3PO, comic relief and side character.

Odd that he was hyped as this big important piece, and in the end he basically was pointless. 2nd movie he had his side quest that had 0 impact. This one sounds like he is even less important and he never mans up and tells Rey he has the hots for her.

Finn and Poe ended up being R2 and C3P0 levels of comic releif/side characters.
