Star Wars Rebels Season 3 |OT| Dark Forces Rising

Anyone think we'll be getting a mid-season trailer sometime this week?
These trailers are a bit of an double edged sword. They will show the hypest moments of the upcoming episodes and people will consider everything between these moments as filler.

Would be amazing.
I mean they pretty much HAVE to die right? Would love to see their perspective during Rogue One battle in Rebels.

Kanan im 100% on having to die sooner than later(sad because during my rewatch he became my 2nd favorite after Hera)
Ezra I don't really care what happens, as long as he isn't his current self

Sabine im fine with somehow living happy,
Ruling Mandalore,
but im also just as fine picturing her devolving back to a loner bounty hunter hanging around a dumpy cantina somewhere.

Hera i'd like to live, but i'd be fine with some BS like when the Rebels start jumping to hyperspace she tries rescue possible survivors on the Scarif and crashes leaving it ambiguous

Concerning Ahsoka's fate.

I believe Filoni has said he will tell that story someday. And we have already seen these that Filoni drew:

I feel like we won't have to wait too long to find out what happened to Ahsoka. Filoni has a habit of suggesting certain storylines or returning characters are farther off than they actually are. When he was asked about Ahsoka showing up in Rebels he made it sound like we'd be waiting seasons and seasons, and then she popped up in that finale.

If we're not gonna findout what happens to Asoka for awhile I hope we at least get Siege of Mandalore before then.

Wishful thinking but i'd absolutely love it if they managed to turn that arc into a one off The Clone Wars movie, though a comic would also be acceptable and more viable (though it wouldn't be as great) The Asoka Novel still skimmed most of it, so I feel like they're waiting for the perfect oppurtunity/format to come along to tell it visually.

Dave Filoni on Having Forest Whitaker on Board Star Wars Rebels as Saw

I have to say, I am loving that Forest Whitaker is voicing Saw in Star Wars Rebels. It adds immensely to the continuity of the Star Wars universe. I would be thrown if I saw Forest as Saw in the film and then heard a different actor voicing him on Rebels.

When asked about his thoughts on in, Dave said, “It’s a huge benefit to us. We have an attitude about the characters, which is if the person that kind of originates the role – the person, especially on screen – we want a much continuity for the audience as possible.”

When asked about his thoughts on having big stars on board an animated show like Star Wars Rebels, Dave said, “When we say the character’s gonna continue, they would absolutely like to continue being the character. They don’t really care what form it’s in.”

And teaser, Forest might not be the only be name we see on Rebels.

“They’re always incredibly gracious and super fun to work with,” Dave said. “It might not be the last one you see in that regard on Rebels.”

While it could be referering to Mon Marthas actor I'm hoping that it's a sign of Ewan voicing Obi-Wan again for season 3.

Considering we've now heard Obi-Wan in the latest trailer and it's obviously not Ewan, this doesn't seem to be case, unfortunately.

Yeah I didn't think so unforunately, but filoni seemed like he wanted him as Obi-Wan in Rebels so it's a bit of a shame.

With that said though, whoever's doing it is spot on and really close to Alecs voice going by just that one line so i'm happy even if it's not Ewan or James voicing him.

From the sounds of it, if the show doesn't end before ANH in the timeline, we may somehow go beyond it and into the OT?

I'm still guessing the endpoint will be their side of the Rogue One story. It just makes too much sense.

Especially because after ANH, Luke is a member of the rebellion, and I can't imagine them wanting to put Ezra and Kanan in the fully formed rebellion (or at least in contact with them) while Luke is hanging out there. Wouldn't make any sense, given that he's supposed to be the last Jedi (apart from Obi/Yoda).

I don't think there's going to be much more of this and that's fine. When Filoni's new show is ready for full production I'm sure it'll replace this one, no matter what one voice actor might say. I can see some of the characters, like Thrawn, moving on to the next show if the timeline makes sense.

I'm actually wondering what would happen if the show really goes all the way to Rogue One territory (and Filoni has said he had some story ideas of where the Rebels cast would be during that story - and we know from the movie at least Hera and Chopper are there). I don't like the idea of Kanan and Ezra being alive there. It's already kind of messy that there are two relatively high profile (for the Empire/Rebellion at least) Jedi running around, but two of them being in some way involved at the time of Rogue One, just days before Luke gets involved? I don't like that at all.

I'm hoping they'll kill off Kanan and Ezra before then, although I'm not sure they're willing to go as far as killing Ezra on this show. Maybe if they age him up a bit first. Or let him go full dark side (doubtful) or give up the entire philosophy thing like Ahsoka.

Oh well, it'll be a bit weird I guess, whatever they'll do. Luckily, while I respect Lucasfilm for putting a lot of effort into what is essentially a young audience cartoon, it doesn't really 'count' for me when I watch the movies (yes yes, one unified canon these days - headcanon trumps everything. I just care that whatever story in whatever medium I'm consuming is good - and the movies are always on another level and the only thing I'm really excited about. I like the easter eggs though, but it's really not more than that for me personally).

Yoda also makes it pretty clear in ESB that Luke is the very last Jedi in existence.

Kanan is a goner for sure. Ezra? I'm sure his fall to the dark side will pay off like some people have been hoping.

Honestly I don't take that literally anymore.
I just take it as Yoda knowing Vader's children somehow turning him or distracting him enough to make it possible to defeat him is the only chance.

1 of those two have to go but honestly neither have a remote chance of ever defeating Vader,
Even Ahsoka if she is alive doesn't stand much of a chance.

I actually don't think it would be terrible if Kanan and Ezra are still around. Why couldn't Luke learn from them? I always thought it was weird how comfortable Luke is with the Force and his lightsaber at the beginning of Empire when last we saw him in ANH, he had never used the blade in combat or done any sort of meaningful Force tricks. Maybe he did get some lessons from Kanan or Ezra but Obi-wan would still want Luke to learn from Yoda, not only because of his importance but also because Kanan seems to be walking more and more in Ahsoka's footsteps and Ezra is almost as lost as Luke is with this stuff.

Naaaaah man I don't feel that at all, and I can't imagine Lucasfilm going so far. You don't mess with the lead character of the only movies in this entire series which will ever achieve true cinema classic-status. That's way too big of a retcon. That goes beyond putting Leia or Lando in Rebels (those stories made sense and didn't really change anything about their stories in the OT, just gave some additional info). Luke training with Kanan during the OT changes the central themes of those movies way too much.

Especially because, let's be honest, he's just a character from a saturday morning cartoon.

Seems like there is an 4 week break between 315 and 316... that seems unusual long?

I'm liking the sound of 317 if that means
Kallus joins the team proper

Considering they didn't have Rex join the team proper (even though he should have) and instead have him randomly and inexplicably be part of the crew in some episodes and not in others, I highly doubt they'll ever have anyone else "join the team proper". Which is unfortunate since most of the main crew continues to be dull as dirt.

I hope not. Having a high ranking ex-Imperial join the Rebellion and actually stay there for a bit would be interesting.

Agreed.

Trailer also confirms that
Bo-Katan
is NOT Sabine's mother. Interesting that she wasn't in the trailer at all though.

I feel like if Ahsoka died to Vader last season then there really wasn't much of a point of her surviving the Clone Wars to begin with. Feels like a waste of their best non-movie character.

It really pissed me off because she was only in like 3-4 episodes

Sure there is. It makes a lot of poetic sense for her to die by the hands of her former master. That wouldn't have been possible within TCW. It's possible with him as Vader.

Twilight of The Apprentice is hands down the best episode of the entire series thus far because we care so much about Ahsoka and Anakin and their relationship. It works in a way and on a level the rest of the show doesn't, because we aren't nearly as invested in their characters.

It's still disappointing that they barely used her when they had her, sure. But it's not at all disappointing that she survived TCW primarily to have that confrontation.

Regardless of if she did survive that fight, and the only reason she probably would comes down to fan demand...which isn't a great reason, there's still a ton of great potential for stories with Ahsoka in the ~17 or so years between TCW and her appearance in Rebels.
