So is that the first time they've used a non-laser weapon?

Cause if a rocket launcher is that effective then they're idiots for losing to the walkers in empire.

It's a Gareth Edwards film.

Dialogue & acting will be stiff but the actions scenes & set-pieces will deliver. All I care about after TFA.

Man, I feel like they're doing a rough job of explaining to normal people that this is a prequel to a 40 year old movie.

I mean, I'm all in, obviously. But every time I see a trailer with normal people, they're like "Where is Rey and Poe? What's this about?"

On one hand, I agree, but tonally it seems super un-Star Wars.

And I am one-hundred-and-fifty percent down for that. It'd be nice to seem them take more thematic and tonal risks with the non-numbered movies.
Yeah, I'm fine with a tonally different story set against a classic Star Wars backdrop. If it all gels together, it'll be fantastic. And if not, the sights alone will be fantastic.

Either way we win, unless you're looking for something different.

too much British accents.

Where are the scruffy scoundrels and the up & comer pilots with American accents?

will watch though

but characters lack charisma

Did you watch the same trailer? I thought they very specifically expanded the accents. Diego Luna, Donnie Yen, and Wen Jiang definitely aren't doing american or british accents.

don't mean to bandwagon, but yikes @ the dialogue and acting. very off. only the robot was decent.

some great shots and action though.

Original Death Star and Darth Vader being alive should be enough to tip them off. Anymore than that I feel would just kill the mood of the trailer.

i saw the same trailer; the banter and the dialogue of the main cast was rather weak and I fear that they are TV show levels of low-charisma

to me, Star Wars main casts require high charisma like the OG cast and the new cast of TFA

The final 15 minutes of this movie absolutely needs to be Darth Vader going full Jason Vorhees-tier movie monster and just slaughtering everyone like an indestructible force. Everyone's trapped in the bowels of a fucking Star Destroyer in the dark, all you hear is Vader breathing and the only thing you see is his lightsaber ignite moments before he offs another member of the rebel scum.

Bobby Roberts where art thou?

You gotta say it three times in the mirror with the lights off.

This is definitively what needs to happen.

Desert planet (3) as gotta be Jedah. That opening city looks like fantasy Mecca, which I presume is where they find Donnie Yen whacking fools in the street.

Good lord the dialogue

Bad vibes, bad bad vibes, cant believe im saying this

According to A New Hope, they succeeded. But at the cost of most of their lives. The tone of the movie and trailer is more somber, especially with the gorgeous visuals.

Holding out hope for Kyle Katarn? That's cute.

They didn't though. They get the Death Star plans to the Rebels, which is the objective. They probably all die though.

Oh ok cool. I don't really follow Star Wars that much so I don't even remember that from a new hope lol. Also don't know who Kyle Katarn is. Looks like a damn good movie though.

A look at people who's going to get slaughtered by Vader.

I hope the writers don't hold back. This is a perfect opportunity to establish how devastating the Empire can be on a personal level.

Wipe them all out, show why Vader is considered such a ruthless enforcer.

I remember agreeing with this post. I still agree.

Eh I have no issues with the dialogue I saw in that trailer. May not be the best, but you give me a good movie and I'm all in.

ehhh, not feeling it. dialogue and acting seemed poor from some of the main characters and I didn't like the music at all. didn't like how they basically pasted the star wars themes onto those generic big budget action/thriller movie music tropes. though that could just be a trailer-specific complaint. I'm just impatient for episode VIII.

90+% on Rotten Tomatoes is this happens, regardless of acting or dialogue.
