Star Wars: Rogue One Story Trailer

After The Force Awakens, I was afraid Lucasfilm were going to follow the Marvel approach to cinematography, but I'm glad to see that's not the case. Some of the shots here are quite lovely.

please enlighten me

Also I wonder if this movie is in jeopardy still with rumours of the re-shoots

Reshoots are standard, Force Awakens had them, Marvel films have them, budgeted and decided in advance of shooting.

Yeah it's almost as though we've seen this setting before. That big battlestation looks awfully familiar. And what's with all those triangle ships?

I was mostly referring to the characters. The trailer has done nothing to sell me on them at all.

I can almost see the glorious sacrifice already. Pretty boiler plate stuff.

I hope this movie has some kind of personality to it that just isn't coming across in the trailers. I mean, the cast is great, it looks pretty, and it seems like it could have some solid action, but the trailers seem kind of... lifeless, in a way that calls attention to the fact that they're also not really telling us anything about the story or characters.

Wash-bot has been the only real spark for me so far.

I'm expecting him to do that, but at the very end. Krennic's gonna be the threat for most of the movie, than Vader usurps him right at the very end.

Or alternatively, we see the beginning of Vader's attack on the Tantive IV at the beginning of A New Hope.

Best case scenario for me is that after the final shots of the surviving heroes, it goes to Vader in a tracking shot as he moves through the star destroyer to the doors of the Tantive IV and walks through, then the screen wipe to credits.

Better everything than Godzilla I hope.

Godzilla was great.

I think I'll watch it again.

Looks good enough I guess. It doesn't look too tonally disconnected as the film seems somewhat dark. I do wish we got the pitch black version though.

The comedy shit ain't working in this.

TFA had fantastic cinematography.

What movie did I watch? But seriously, it had some scenes that were great, and quite a few that were just shrug worthy. The entire trench run remix was bland as shit. Not just because of how very little action was actually going on, but because of all of the stupid up close and limited angle shots.

TFA didn't look that good. It had the one great shot on Jakku of the derelict destroyer and that's it. It never really let its shots breathe.

I'm biased cus I'm a huge Star Wars fan but I dunno how anyone can watch that trailer and not think it looks great.

Godzilla was great.

Yeah, I need to rewatch this one. I was incredibly disappointed by the lack of Bryan Cranston and the close up framing during monster fights, but revisiting it on a TV screen might be better fare for it.

You know what would be good? A Star Wars movie akin to Master and Commander. A lone Star Destroyer and it's crew hunting for rebel ships.

The Adventures of ISD Chimaera

Das Boot: Imperial Edition. I'd be down, but then I've always rooted for the Empire. I'm still waiting for my Band of Brothers with Stormtroopers.
