5 hours huh?

I'm not sure I would even want more of it, to be honest. While I found it to be very impressive looking, I was not impressed with the game itself. It felt rather boring to me before the demo was even over. If the game had been twice as long, I fear it would have become even more dull. Even at 5 hours, the level design screams of padding.

A short length is not always a problem. Vanquish was also pretty short, but it constantly feels fresh and challenges you to improve. As you become more skillful with the controls, it becomes even more fun. There is no such learning curve with this game.

THinking of picking this up for the PS3 instead of my 360 since there is no multiplayer. Any notable differences?

PS3 version features higher quality motion blur (more samples). :D

Such a disappointment. I enjoyed the game, but it's a disappointing sequel.

Visually it's pretty amazing and the gameplay is refined (although just as shallow as the first one), but the plot is terribad, boss fights feel like afterthought and the game feels like a DLC.

You see, being 4 to 5 hours short is not the only problem. There are some games out there that manages to feel like a complete package even with so little content. TFU 2, unfortunately, is not one of those games. It feels like an incomplete adventure, made of a few parts patched together with little care or cohesiveness. It's hollow and unfulfilling.

It lacks the variety and epic scale of the first game. It's just a really small, meaningless journey.

I just know this game is going to be loaded with DLC missions; it makes me want to wait for an Ultimate Sith Edition type package.

Yea, wait for that- then you may get almost a full game without having to pay more to get that experience.:lol

The dark side ending is pretty neat. Didn't see that coming.

Now the unlockable cinematics makes sense. Easy to guess who you will face in the sequel, or play in the DLC.

BTW Best Buy has a buy 2 advertised games, get one free and they list bunch of games including Fable 3 Regular & CE, Force Unleashed Regular & CE, Castlevania and bunch more like fifa and other sports games.

Picked up Fable 3 CE and FU2 CE and got a spare FU2 CE I didnt pay for :D

Oh you have to ask about the Fable 3 code, they didnt give me one so I had to go back in the store and ask for it.

WTF is going on...I thought the demo was really fun. I'm disappointed.

Yeah me too, have Fable 3 and New Vegas need playing. But in FU2 just to try it, loving it so far beautiful graphics with NO TEARING. Huge upgrade to FU1.

Then see review scores like 5/10.

Last third? I hope you mean last three-quarters.

Eh, the story cuts off at basically the end of Act 2 of a three-act structure. I'd say three or four levels are missing, narratively speaking.

Maybe. The narrative did feel like the end of a 2nd or 3rd Act. But that is of course if the story ends with
Boba Fett or Starkiller defeated.

Holy shit. :\

Really weird to see such a highly praised demo get such bad reviews.

It doesn't help when a demo is literally a fourth of the game.

If it's any consolation to SW fans, the differences between the endings implies that
Vader let himself be captured.

Of course, there's one unresolvable fuck-up:
they take him to Dantooine. Now Vader knows for certain that there is a rebel base on Dantooine, which means that either a.) he destroys it during his escape or b.) he escapes and then by all logic informs the Imperials of what happened and they take it out. Regardless it means he shouldn't fall for Leia's fake answer in A New Hope.

Perhaps he didn't. He didn't do anything when Leia said it, it was all Tarkin talking. Maybe Vader was just smiling under his mask.

Still don't know
what happens to Vader, he might not even know it's Dantooine he was on in the first place or what goes on in the years between this and ANH. This wont be clear until we see a TFU3... if that happens.

I love the darkside ending,
mostly because tfu1 made Vader look like an utter weak bitch. In part 2 however he's given the proper respect he deserves as a powerful Sith dark lord. It would also be cool if Vader is infact the one that made the cloning of a force individual possible. It leads into the EU with Dark Empire where Sidious is cloned into a perfect younger body. Pretty cool if Vader invented it.
It is also heavily implied by the novel and the games that the real Starkiller has been dead ever since Vader killed him. It is noted that Starkiller's force signature reads differently. He no longer has his scars which he had many of. And lastly there's a secret cinematic in Tfu2 that shows Vader showing the evil perfect Starkiller the floating corpse of the "original" Starkiller who is still in the training gear he was killed in
.

Yeah, i don't see a problem with that scene.
Vader wasn't loyal to Tarkin. Would be cool to have another level playing as Vader in part 3 and killing everyone in that base. Vader's perfect apprentice is also following him so either way the rebels will be screwed. That scene works the same way as "No, there's another one" if Starkiller survives past part 3.

IGN gave it 6.5.
Anthony is a huge SW fan too... :(

If I remember right, he didn't like the first one either.

I'm wondering if I should just return the game to Amazon. This could be one of the few times that blind buying games the last year or two potentially bit me in the ass. LOL

Then again, maybe I could play and beat it, and trade it in if it's that disappointing while it's still worth something.

Or not. :lol

Isn't looking too good for this game, guess I will pick it up in 6 months or later for half the price. It will probably still sell 3 million copies or more.

Just watched the Gametrailers review.

You don't like it fine, but giving it a 6.7 or so for presentation is just fucking moronic.
Mentioning "muddy textures" but completely ignoring great art direction, amazing post-processing/motion blur, stable as hell framerate, fantastic animation, etc.

Credit where it's due

yea, not getting it. The Game feels like the first one and the enemies are mindless puppets.

edit: looks like the reviews are agreeing

Ok I just finished it. Took me 5 hours. Let's see...

+Amazing visuals. One of the best looking games this year.
+Top notch audio.
+Low level enemy encounters aren't as frustrating as the first game.
+The lock on works better.

-There is no plot. The game basically takes place over a 24 hour period.
You escape, save the general, and go back to Kamino to fight Vader.
The clone plot is never addressed, there isn't any characterization, and the game just ends. The ending is a total cop out and is what pissed me off the most.
Juno somehow no sells death after being flung hundreds of feet off a building, and you can't kill Vader because of the movies, so let's take him to jail where he can escape 10 minutes later.
-The games short with no replay value.
-The games glitchy. Enemies get stuck in the environment, I saw Tie fighters and boxes floating in the air, enemies disappear, the game froze on me, the game killed me during the endboss by dropping me off a ledge after a cutscene ended, and the audio cuts out. During the final cutscene I lost all sound except the voices.
-Boss battles suck.
The Hunter Killer was boring, the Gorog was frustrating because the jumping and dodging mechanics aren't as precise as say God of War, and the Vader boss fight is a nominee for the worst final boss ever.

I hadn't been following the game, and I didn't enjoy the demo, but I wish this would have turned out better :/.

So true. Especially the spoiler part.

I'm enjoying the game so far, its a lot of fun. To hell with the plot if it sucks, I'm just having a ball blowing away everything in my path. I thought this would get old after the first game, but its just as great as ever. The people who have reviewed the game thus far seem to forget that a key part of the game is the gameplay. So far I find no faults with the game itself.

The GT review directly comments on how the gameplay starts out fun, and becomes repetitive and thus boring later. Looks and sounds like they are right.

Notice with the Wii version videos dismemberment seems to be turned up much higher than PC version. On PC iI would occasionally cut off a head but it was almost exclusively hands and such.

You see guys getting chopped in half etc left and right for the Wii version.

Does it look better on console? I'm going through on the PC maxed out and the technical issues alone are killing it for me.

so-so. I find it almost impossible to do a second replay on almost any game. There are challenge levels you unlock, and depending on your rank you'll unlock a memory cinematic, sabre crystal and a costume for each. There's an alternate ending that you need to replay the last level for. Your force powers are persistent so the powers you have at the end of the game can be used on any level/challenge.

That actually sounds like a lot of replay.
I guess getting 100% means a close to 10 hour game.

Hmmm. Maybe impulse purchasing the PS3 CE, the Wii game, and the DS game, wasn't one of my better ideas. Ah well.

The Wii videos look like a completely different game, lot of differences. Not sure if better but pretty different.

Have a bad feeling they cut out a lot to gouge us with DLC. The game checks right away for DLC and theres a store link right in the main menu to go buy some. Lot of blank spaces in the game as well that seem ripe for a missing level. *sigh*

Well we bit so hard on the first one, early adopters bought the DLC and then people re-spent to buy the game again with it all included

This could be one of the first games that has the DLC ending/remainder of the game which was hypothesized by various developers over the last year or two :(

I would hope they don't try to sell an ending, though not sure they would as the novelizations ending is same as the game ending. Unless rumors of TFU3 development was stopped and they just end up making what was done as some form of DLC down the line. The original DLC was a pretty big rip off as well.

I ain't paying $50 for a 5 hour experience with little to no replay value with the potential of plenty of DLC down the road. Fuck that.

Rental, PS3 and Wii versions, here we come. The game sounds like a fun romp though.

I'm about 90% through the game, and have to call it a night. I've already spent about 6 hours on it, maybe a little less, so it's a little longer for me than people have reported. I think when it's all over, I'll be sad that it was so short, because it is a lot of fun to play, but at least by the end, it won't be dragging (like the first, for me), and I can't honestly say that I completely regret getting this on launch.

There are a couple of sections that have really pissed me off, reminiscent of the first game, but other than that, things are much, much better. Combat is definitely smoother, as it's much faster to transition between targets and attacks.

But yeah, the gameplay is pretty awesome. And I don't even think the story is that bad so far (I do have yet to see the ending though, which I hear is horrible). I actually prefer the story in this one better than the first, so far, because the first was full of cheese moments, drama, and overacting. At least in this one, the main character's motives are a lot more straight forward, and the story isn't unnecessarily complicated. He runs from place to place beating shit up and being a general badass, which is basically the only kind of story that this kind of game needs.
