You can do each if you don't play around too much in about 20 some hours each or a bit less depending how fast you power through em.
You don't need to play those games to play TOR though, the stories are mostly self contained. There are some nods to the KOTOR story and the games in general spread throughout TOR, but they have largely created new material especially since this takes place over 300 years after those games.

TBH Guardian seemed a little too much like my Warrior Tank in WoW and i fancy something different.There's a few KOTOR 1 references, i haven't seen anything from KOTOR 2 yet, but i only got to level 25 in the beta.

I'd say it's one of those games that every gamer who enjoys RPGs and/or Star Wars should play, but it's not necessary to do so before playing TOR.
Don't get too used to the Wrath/Cata style of tanking. You can't just throw down AOE and instantly have aggro on everything. There is a lot more management and enemies are more spread out.

Should probably get its own thread.
Play the first one if you care about the story of Revan, play the second one (if you can deal with the bugs and lack of a proper ending) if you care about the state of the universe and want better characters, gameplay, level design, and morality system.
Do we have any word on how much, if anything, Bioware took from KOTOR 2 for The Old Republic? KOTOR 1 was their baby after all while KOTOR 2 was from Obsidian.

Probably, but with that Bioware thread around it's going to go nowhere fast, even if it's not Bioware's fault.
I have no idea. I can't imagine them just ignoring the best character by far in the series though (Kreia).
That thread makes my head hurt.

Haha, you get used to it, MMOs generate a pretty rough crowd. FFXI is pretty much always bashed around here except in the official thread, despite it being an amazing MMO. Heck, they did cutscenes and dialogue in a MMO on a much more vivid scale than TOR, it just wasn't voiced and limited to the same story for each character.

Maybe if it was faded to look like it's cut into the surface below, then just overlay it with the white text (which I would use a bit more of a blocky font for personally)....
So is there any good deals on this game? I liked the beta but wasn't planning to buy it since i'de rather just wait for guild wars 2 and tera, but I found myself thinking about this game today and it could be nice to hold me over until those come out.
But there is no way I want to pay $60 and then a monthly fee for the game. So does this game have any deals that cut it down a little? Steam or origin or something?

The only deal I know of right now is a $15 dollar gaming coupon when you buy from K-Mart. Not much of a deal if you don't regularly shop there for games, but it's better than nothing.
Not at launch. Like any game, wait for the sales.
And GW2 will probably come out in two years or something.

I was wondering what happened. I had called Saturday to cancel my pre-order and it showed up right. then I got an email from them saying it was an error and was shipping out. I had to call them this morning to make sure it was still cancelled, since it would have been shipped to a house I no longer live in 60 miles away.

Wait. I'm looking at the preorder options (since thats not in the OP) and it says for $20 more in the digital deluxe version I can get:

Training Droid
HoloDancer
HoloCam
STAP (Single Trooper Aerial Platform)
and thats it? for $20? Is any of that stuff worth it? It seems like junk to me.
I mean the regular version preordered gets the 5 day early access as well which is probably the biggest thing.
Am I missing the value or something here or is the digital deluxe version kind of bad for $20 more?

So I reinstalled the client, but it won't let me login to redownload stuff. Guess even my access has also been turned off.

Never listen to Giant Bomb regarding Nintendo or MMOs. That's my rule. They might have played through Westfall, but that doesn't mean they know jack shit about MMOs. If you want opinions form people who actually play MMOs, you should go to Massively or something. Giant Bomb isn't going to be playing this any longer than the week it takes them to review it.
Meh. I like GiantBomb and all, but I pretty much just use them for QuickLooks and their podcast because they're interesting. They're like the "videogame fratboys" of the industry. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. I love the stuff they put out. Just don't go to them for MMO information and opinion.
Plus, haven't they said that none of them really like MMOs? If you don't like MMOs, you're not going to like SWTOR unless you love Star Wars.
