It is confirmed - in the latest build of the game, we freed up some of the combinations of classes and species. I'll tell you that I have a Zabrak Bounty Hunter on my screen right now.

That being said, absolutely nothing in this regard should be considered 'officially announced' (ie 'This is how it will be in the game at launch'), as we're still gathering feedback and looking for potential issues with combinations we didn't expect.

Choices that might be in a build today might not be there when we ship.

Dueling is in. Dueling can be done between people on the same sides. Dueling is non-lethal.
If they also implement arena battles ala Episode 2 (Geonosis) then this will be the game of forever.

As for the amount of force users? Get over it. People wanting to try a force user is not stopping you from being a Trooper or Smuggler. If even 1/4 of those Jedi Knights turn into tanks, that's a good thing.

That being said, I'll be sticking to my Jedi Knight/Trooper/Sith Inquisitor/Imperial Agent picks. =D

Hopefully there'll still be plenty of Bounty Hounters around to make a BH exclusive guild. With the addition of the Bodyguard skillset I can imagine a group of 4 BHs (1/2 mercenaries, 1 powertech and 1/2 bodyguards) doing fine in Flashpoints. They have a decent amount of CC both viable in PvE and PvP.

Wouldn't mind trying an Imperial Agent guild at some point....although at the moment I'll be content with the GAF Empire.

Without any known tanking abilities that would require a lot of kiting. The IA is a ranged class not matter which advanced class you pick.

Heck yes.

Man the more that gets released, the more excited I get. I am also excited we have some good diversity going so far.

If you want hardcore raiding and not casual, no worries. I'll be assisting with end game content organization along with helping everyone else out.

True...I was thinking of it like a group of WOW hunters rollin around together....but I guess IA's don't have pets/companions to distract the target as you shoot it.

Is anyone else canceling their WOW subscription to pay for this? then if it sucks going back to WOW?

I deleted my paladin a few months ago. If this falls flat, I am done with MMOs for the foreseeable future once more.

This game got me so excited that I subscribed to WoW for the first time. It's fun, but it's really hard to get into a 6-year-old MMO because the entire community already knows everything and everyone is max level already. I'm really excited to play TOR at launch so I can actually enjoy the game with others instead of running around empty zones killing trash until I reach 80 and can play with other people.

I dont think you could pay me to play Cataclysm right now. And when Star Wars does come out, even if its only half as fun as I thought it would be, the game will be still be more interesting than WoW.

I am cancelling my WoW sub for this. SWTOR would have to be essentially broken to get me to quit, and even then I wouldn't return to WoW. WoW has run its course in most players minds. Once this game + Guild Wars 2 + Diablo III get released the WoW server mergers will begin and 90% of the game will be a ghost town.

Or maybe this is why WoW feels so empty.

I have gone back to WoW so many times, but each time I last less and less longer with it. The game just does nothing for me. I loved it back in the day, but it just is old news to me, despite what they add to the game, it's just too much been there and done that. CAT did nothing for me. After so many years with it, I've had enough of it.

I've been jumping around to other MMOs and I have fun with them but stuff often goes wrong usually with the community that dies off.

EVE is probably my all time favorite MMO but never had enough time to really devote to it though I keep going back to it. Once my DCUO sub runs out I'm probably going back to EVE once again lol. I'm usually subbed to two MMO's at once so I will be sticking with RIFT and EVE, but RIFT I'm not sure it will hold me too long as it keeps feeling like WoW at times a bit too much.

I will surely be dumping one for SWTOR and probably will stick with it for some time unless the game is somehow all around terribad. A Star Wars MMO is so what I want, and Galaxies was such a huge dissapointment.

I used to play this almost every day for the first year following the release. I put in more than 100 days of playtime and accumulated a remarkable amount of epic items (being a scarce class as the druid was, really did good for your inner lootwhore). I still remember the first week (Easter) when the game was released in EU - the battle to get to level 60 first. And then there was the battle to kill Onyxia first, clear Molten Core and so. Oh God, I can't believe it has been more than 5 years since I've played WoW!

I'm ready to jump back into the MMO genre again with BioWare's announcement that SWTOR would be playable as a singleplayer game with heavy focus on the storyline. Obviously I'm gonna try the Flashpoints, PvP and raids but just not like my last days in WoW where the schedule was something like PvP in the afternoon, raids at night and collecting for AQ in the off hours...

I recently started playing Kotor & Kotor2(not made by BioWare) again. Those games re-playability is insane, I could play the games 100 more times, the quality is just that good. Getting me pumped for SWTOR...

How's that even a question? I was just looking at plane tickets before but €140 r/t (Austria) seems quite excessive for a limited play session.

Go there and share the experience with us afterwards :D

For some reason BioWare doesn't allow people to film the game at the event. Very weird considering people did it at PAX.
Can I film the event?

You may film the event itself, but you may not film the game screens.

I tried playing KOTOR2 (loved 1), but I just couldn't get interested or immersed. The graphics whore in me couldn't stand the eyesore after playing ME2.

I'm thinking about cancelling my WoW sub again, I'm guilded with some dudes from work but we work opposite shifts so I never see them on to raid. Dungeons are too hard to PUG given the caliber of the average WoW player, and without a community there just isn't anything to keep me interested.

Problem is, I'm not sure what to play instead. I've been spending heaps of time on Minecraft, even though I spend 99% of my time by myself at least people greet me and have conversations.

I'm looking forwards to the GAF guild, so far I've had a pretty good experience with GAFfers in games.

Just started WOW myself, it's the first time I've had a pretty decent PC so I'm looking forward to it even if people start dropping off the face of it as I jump on the bandwagon at the last minute.

KOTOR should be coming in the mail aswell.

They addressed this on the boards:

StephenReid said:
PAX East was an exception to the rule of 'no filming off our screens'. We wanted footage to get out there, in a relatively non-controlled way, so we hooked up one external facing monitor to one PC that was showing Origin Worlds.

However, we've seen some issues with that, with some parts of the game that aren't 'ready for prime time' popping up on the internet as a result.

That's from one machine showing on one screen. Now multiply that by the number of machines we have in gamerbase... and it's a huge potential issue for us.

Much as you may hate that line of reasoning, that's why, primarily, we're not allowing filming of screens at this event.

We're working on bringing you more footage from Origin Worlds in the future - I'm not going to say soon, because it won't be, but it'll happen.

This kind of shit makes me think that a November / December release date is not out of the question. Game just doesn't seem ready.

I don't buy that "ready for prime time" excuse. What we saw at PAX was fantastic with just a few minor bugs and now you're telling me that they wont even have Taral V at the event in London? So they are both removing content from the game and any chance of recording what is left (which should be less buggy given that they kept it in).

Surpriiiiise!

But don't worry, it'll be released early in an unfinished state, just like every other MMO.

Rift was released in a VERY polished state, I am hopeful Bioware can at least match it in terms of quality at lanch. I'm currently playing that and LotrO to get my MMO fix until TOR releases.

If you're sick of the community in WoW but still want something similar, LotrO might be something to look into. It's free to play now, and the community is leagues better than WoW (at least on Landroval, where I play).

Late September/early October. I'd be very shocked if it came out earlier or later than that.

I don't see them considering non MMO games as same type of competition. A holiday release seems most likely at this point if they are waiting possibly for E3 to announce anything.

Winter is when most of the casual gaming folks I know flirt with an MMO or two. If Bioware are smart they will release it no later than November.

On a different subject, I see how bad hacking got in WoW that they needed to come out with an authenticator that is damn near required these days. I had thought it was just an isolated case of WoW's insane popularity. But now I'm reading lots of accounts are being hacked in Rift to the point where some folks are quitting until a solution is in place. This is starting to look like a a standard nuisance for most MMO's going forward, I hope Bioware have authenticators or some similar solution in place. I would love it if they could include an authenticator with every purchase to get ahead of the issue.

Alot of it just comes down to people thinking they are clever with certain passwords or just plain stupid with a password like password123.

But EA wants to spread out releases even if they aren't the same exact demographic because they want to grow the market, not just keep people that are going to buy the game anyway. ME and TOR will likely have a good crossover market. Plus they probably don't want to marketing blitz three huge titles at the same time.

Seriously, if you thought the We Aren't in Azeroth Anymore commericals were prevalent, just wait for the marketing that TOR is going to get. It's going to be everywhere. If I had to timeline guess, they'll announce beta is going to start a few weeks after E3 and release will be in late August/early September. They'd have a good window to themselves to at least get the play 30 days for free crowd.

Starting to get mega hyped for this. I apped to the GAF guild, my name is knoxay there. I'm leaning towards Jedi Sage at the moment, but I'm afraid it's going to be the dedicated healing class, I'm hoping for a dps/support/crowd control mix. I'm playing through KOTOR again (as a light side Consular!) and it's getting me pretty hyped.

Your Sage won't be forced into healing any more than my Scoundrel will (although I might choose to be a healer, not sure yet).

Good to hear. I equated subclasses with WoW talents, but I guess they're more like their own class that can then specialize into different roles (if applicable)?

I marked undecided because I wanted to see class distribution in the guild first. Now that I've seen it, I'm for sure going to be a healing Consular.

Yeah The advanced classes really are quite nice for diversity. Sith Sorceror advance of Inquisitor can be ranged damage or focus on healing.

Is there any way to change my class on the guild website thing? It's kind of annoying to know that the class distribution isn't accurate because I didn't know what class I wanted to play a few weeks ago. Smugglers are just too cool.

EDIT: WOW. Right after posting this I accidentally found the page where you can change this.

Star Wars: The Complete Sage is releasing on Blu Ray in September (16th). Would be smart of them to release SWTOR close to that - if it is done by then.

Has WoW released a mobile app for that yet? Don't know why they're selling separate when sending me a text or email or just releasing an app to handle it.

Really? I always though for WoW it was the add-ons. Which is ironic since the game is near unplayable without them.

Getting add-ons from compromised sites and such can be a problem for sure but as the gawker being hacked incident showed. Most people are just morons when it comes to passwords

It just seems like things are running a bit close here with releasing this game and it's going to need a big marketing push too with how much they are putting into it. I think September would be ideal but not announcing any release details till June seems like cutting it a bit too close hence me thinking it will probably be held back till the holiday season.
