So this wouldn't be a summer showcase. Nor is it even a showcase if it's for this one tired franchise.
Going by your definition none of the summer showcase shows are ever in summer. Is my point, which I'm sure you understand. It's that time of year, plain and simple. What's the difference between 4/30 or 5/30? Neither are in summer. Sony doesn't even usually label their "summer" stuff as anything other than just a SoP with a date. What are we arguing about?

console exclusive?
Huh? It's for Switch 2, PC, Xbox and PS. This has been known for months. Except for maybe the Switch 2 version. That's been known since the Switch 2 Direct nearly a month ago.

They've done title-focused SoPs before for major third-party games. They did one for Hogwarts Legacy in April 2022, before the big delay to 2023.

Let's deduce this with logic and reason.

They have a bunch of games coming this year that already have release dates. There will be other partnered games as well, I am sure. Thus, their marketing will put together a showcase with all of that.

This is just silly and unrealistic to even entertain Borderlands 4 is their only "summer showcase."

I know we are jaded bunch, but this licking of walls levels.

I had such fun with BL2, played for 1000s of hours, BL3 the character wwre interminable and poorly written so i couldnt hack it when it felt like a worse version of BL2.

BL4 being good is about as likely as Diablo 4 suddenly becoming good I feel, welp.

I like Borderlands games , hope 4 has well writting and fun story...don't know if they still use cell shading art style but remember when original Borderlands released and had onenof the Best cell Shanding art style.

Ah… I see. The moving of the goal post from your original argument. You said "it's not summer", I pointed out it doesn't matter and has never mattered, ever. Now we have whatever this is.

Your original concern was that this was the "Summer Showcase."

My cheeky jab was for you to course correct your lunacy, yet here we are.

Enjoy your Summer Showcase™ then.

then..its pretty dumb to have a whole state of play for 1 game

A dedicated 20 minute State of Play for Borderlands 4, a game that comes out on the same day as Marathon.

🤦‍♂️

They've literally done ones before, this is hardly the first time. Just off the top of my head, they did a big one for Hogwarts Legacy in April 2022. It was actually pretty cool, seeing a deep dive into the game. I'm not really seeing the problem. There'll certainly be another SoP closer to the "summer" dead e3 window with the usual variety.

Ugh I really hope this isn't their big Summer showcase SoP. That would be so lame.. Dead E3 gets worse every year.
We go through this every year.

No this isn't the summer showcase. It's not even May yet. There's probably at least 1 more State of Play before then.

What does Marathon have to do with it? They're completely different games. Also it was just announced it's being pushed up two weeks. It's not 9/12, not 9/25. It's a chess move to get out of the way of GTA, surely, not Marathon, if anything.

Well with the anemic lineup this year it's hard to say. PS hasn't had a decent "summer showcase" in a while. Last year was pretty thin, too.

That's fair. I don't think this year is going to be it unless they decide to start showing things farther than a year out.
