STEAM- Announcements & Updates 2011 Edition |OT2|

I just finished up Runespell: Overture.

I'd give it a very high recommendation based on the promised free content coming from the developers. The game as it is may need a little bit of balancing, the last few battles are unfairly brutal, but I assume that may be part of the coming patches. I, of course, did not get the Runespell XL achievement. I'd probably replay the game once that's fixed if needed. It's a lot of fun.

Well I was considering buying Dungeon Seige 3 since it's by Obsidian and while it shouldn't have the dungeon seige name, it does seem to be a competent arpg

Until I saw this:

Nope. I'll wait for a sale. Why the fuck can't you import the save over? fuck that shit.

Two gripes about Dungeon Siege 3 in the 11 hours I put into it. Firstly, the coop is a joke, the person joining your game, does not have their own character, they play as one of your NPCs, thus any and all loot goes to the hoster only. Secondly, the save system is BULLSHIT, the only time it saves to steam cloud is if you specify it, but the game NEVER mentions it. So after reformatting, and thinking the save would be on the cloud, like every steamworks title not made by Obsidian, I find out the thing is gone and I have to start over.

haha, Fallout New Vegas has fucked up cloud saving as well. Get with it, Obsidian.

Yo I said that when I couldn't import my save from Bioshock demo into the main game.

I was like damn, every other demo let's me import, why won't this.

EA Y U NO WANT MY MONEYS?!

Then again, I probably won't ever get it regardless.

That's exactly the problem; EA wants 100% of the money, taking away any fees Steam would have retained from the purchase through it's software.

If they're pulling Dragon Age 2 for in-game purchases, shouldn't they be pulling Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age: Origins as well?

But... you can buy stuff for Dragonage 1 in game without going through steam... and mass effect 1/2...

EA is just trollin.

Presumably games added to steam before the contract change would be exempt.

Dungeon Siege 3 is a good Single player game but it has issues when it comes to re-playability and co-op

* No randomized areas
* Loot sucks
* No new game +
* People can troll you in multiplayer and sell all your shit
* I think you play pro-bono when joining in multiplayer (like Fable 2), i would try it but its dead online

As a single player experience it gets an 8.2 out of 10 from me.

I need to get both DeathSpank games and Mirror's Edge before they're pulled. I can really see EA taking all their games down at some point.

This might sound dumb to you but you should really get ME on Origin. You'll get the Pure Time Trial pack for free with the purchase, which is a great extension to the game.

Deathspank won't get pulled (forgive the pun), its a Hothead game and EA are just publishing.

And people wonder why we stick up for Steam so much, EA are fucking dicks and people need to stop buying their PC games.
Aren't Valve the ones that pulled it and not EA? I wonder why in-game DLC purchase options are so contentious.

I honestly don't know the details, but do we really need to defend EA? I know, opinions everyone has them, but those guys are so anti-consumer, I tend to side with Valve, which has taken care of us quite well over the years.

Every issue needs to be examined on a case by case basis, not who's the nicest.

Oh, nice. That's a pretty good incentive.

I figured it'd be anything EA is involved in. Good to know.

QFT, we shouldn't be biased against EA, but form a judgment from every action that EA takes. Same with Valve.

Legend of Fae is pretty neat! It's based on the Puzzle League style of gem matching instead of Bejeweled, which makes it a little more fun for me right off the bat. My only issue is that it's following the Popcap standard, by which I mean it's a fixed low 4:3 resolution so it can play on anyone's computer. Not such a big deal, but the way they implement fullscreen means that 16:10 monitors get a black bar on all four sides of the picture. Oh, and the demo's limited to an hour, which might be why there's no demo on Steam.

It's a new Valve policy meant to bring in all these Free-to-play games. You can't let them do all their purchases in-game because then Valve is hosting their content and getting nothing in return. These other games are just getting caught in that crossfire I guess.

Seems like pretty beefy requirements for such a little game.
Processor: Intel Core i7 920 2.66 Ghz or AMD Phenom II X4 3.00 Ghz
Memory: 3 GB DDR3

The fuck, is this emulating XNA code from 360 or some shit? Physics or not that's ludicrous for such a game. More likely to be a ton of advanced particle effects than some physics which is running on the 360.

I'm sure y'all are tired of people doin' this, but I've got a DiRT 3 key I'm willing to trade for NecroVision + Defy Gravity Extended. PM me if interested, it would be greatly appreciated!

EDIT: Thank you, sir who took it off my hands. Figured I'd keep you anonymous. :3

"Dirt 3 for free" thread wasn't getting you enough offers?

Never posted there, believe it or not. Figured I'd at least toss it up if anyone didn't catch the offer or really wanted the game. Thanks for the immediate assumption, though; really provides a welcoming atmosphere for someone who wants to start posting a bit more often.
