Just booted TF2 but it's showing no servers, what can be the problem? (It does show the usual news pop ups though)

I had this problem yesterday. You're going to either choose from your favorites or join a game by IP address.

Also had that problem, but after closing the game and opening it again solved that issue.

Little platform game for $1.75? Bought.

http://wii.nintendolife.com/reviews/2009/04/cid_the_dummy_wii

Conclusively CID The Dummy is a rather disappointing experience and a prime example of the recent trend of “shovelware” that seems to have befallen the Wii. There are little to no discernable areas of good quality in the game and at best it may pass an hour or two before you become at best confused and at worst utterly completely frustrated. Perhaps CID should hang up his “super suit” and return to his job at the crash dummy factory.

Review of the wii version, just mentioning.

TF2 has been at a rock bottom price for years now, like $2.50 on sale. If would imagine most people who were ever interested in TF2 already own the game so I don't think making it F2P is going to really increase the userbase much. Besides they would have to fill COD with some kind of microstransaction for them to make money on the game like TF2 did, I don't see the community accepting that at all.
You're trying to say the CoD community wouldn't buy microtransactions? Tosh. If Activision releases something, they will buy it.

Does anyone know when they added ISP specific Steam Servers. In the last week or so Washington D.C. (Comcast) has shown up in addition to the regular Washington D.C. server. Is this a deal with only Comcast, or do subscribers of other ISPs see servers for their ISP?

Wouldn't surprise me if this was related to that Steam server upgrade article somebody posted last week. They specifically mentioned a benefit being that ISP's could cache content.

EDIT: There's also a Comcast server in Seattle and a ton of ISP specific servers in Australia.

The Comcast server in D.C. is pretty good, usually 5.0-5.9MB downloads. Over the last couple days, thats actually been really nice after getting 100kb on some of the other servers. Steam's servers in Charlotte and Washington D.C. normally top out my connection at 7.3MB when there isn't chaos like these last couple days.

Are you a Comcast subscriber in DC? Or are you just some fiber user who normally gets insane download speeds.

Switched over to the DC (Comcast server) and was only getting about 700kb/sec on a download. That's compared to my usual server which lets me turbo boost at about 2.5MB/sec before settling down at my normal rate of 1.4MB/sec. A definite decrease for me. I'm a Comcast user in Florida btw.

No, I'm a subscriber In Jacksonville, Florida. Miami and Atlanta servers always seem to be slow, it is weird, but I definitely get better speeds from Charlotte and D.C. I think it is due to how much of the internet gets routed through both Miami and Atlanta, they are both large hubs. My internet package is $99/month, and is 50 mb down and 10 up. They don't cap it correctly because I always seem to pull down 62.5 mb on speedtest, and the 7.3 MB I hit in steam.

The Daily Deals are the Summer Sale. Book it.

Nah... Summer Sale is the new F2P game from Valve (TF2 was just a red herring). Supported by microtransactions (the sales itself).

I have no problem admitting I was wrong but posting numbers before it went F2P would help me understand the amount of increase. Also did they put out an update with more weapons and a new map this weekend as well? It will be interesting to see if TF2 can sustain the increase as well.

Dunno I'm going to put some faith in the COD community, I don't see them as mindless bots. I don't think the community is trained to spend money but that the amount of changes is worth the price of entry once a year considering the amount of time a normal COP player spends online. Who knows though but until Valve actually release some sales data on hats, I don't see anyone following a F2P model in a FPS.

Weird. I'm on the tier below you and have my best speeds going through the Miami server. I'm actually on the west coast of Florida, but Comcast's servers in Miami is where my packets get routed before heading north.

No registry updates so far today - looks like HBroward may be right about the sale starting later than last year, unless we get a massive update tomorrow.

RE: ISPs in the steam servers

I'm a comcast subscriber in DC and switched to that server when i read the posts in this thread. I'm downloading Beat Hazard at ~290 kb/s on the DC (Comcast) server. I just switched back to the DC regular server and am getting ~280 kb/s.
