Dumb question: if i buy a game on my notebook with my steam account and not download it, then will i be able to download and install it on my gaming desktop with the same steam account or i i'm limited to the pc where i bought it?

I'm new to steam.

You can download and install it on any computer as long as you are on the same steam account

Just to add to this, you can download it as many times as you want and install it to as many simultaneous computers as you want so it would be no problem to install it to both. You just can't access the games on the account with more than one computer at a time.

Can you if they're in offline mode?

Just Cause 2 is probably one of the best PC ports I've ever played. From what people say...Saints Row 2 is not. I own SR2 but haven't tried it.
Just Cause 2 doesn't feel like a port at all. The graphics are mindblowing, it runs well and KB/M controls are great.

Saints Row 2 is a complete turd of a port.

Got Saints Row 2 ages ago as part of the THQ pack, so I downloaded it last night to give it a try. I installed the Gentlemen of the Row fan patch first, and it seemed to run quite well during the tutorial at 1080p with nearly everything on high.

Then I got in a car... the game feels like it's running about 4 times as fast as it should be. The pop-in is horrible is well. Time to download the powertools mod and get a stopwatch out to see if I can make it run better. Doubt it'll fix the pop-in, though.

Seriously, nobody should have to go to that much trouble just to get a game to run acceptably. Is it true CDProjekt developed the PC port? Read that when I was looking for the fan mods and it surprised me - they seem to have done a good job with the Witcher games, and then in between they made this. I know porting someone else's game is way different from making your own from scratch, but still...

Have we all given up on the prospect of a sale :I?

The likelihood is the sale wouldn't have been until Monday at the earliest anyway. A summer sale pack got added a couple of days ago, so they're having one, we just don't know when.

Given that I just literally bet cash on it in this thread, I'm pretty sure I haven't given up. :p

Well, here's hoping you win! ( I want a sale dagnabbit! )

I just realized how evil Valve are. Reel in a ton of new Steam users with F2P TF2, then have a massive sale the week after.

Yep, like a drug dealer handing out freebies to get people hooked, then jacking up the price, Valve knows exactly what they're doing.

Monday will see the most aggressive sale we have ever seen, and will devastate the wallets of millions.

One thing I see coming out of this is more games going F2P, nothing stopping MP segments of say COD 4 or similar going F2P to react to the TF2 move. At the end of the day it wont cost publishers much to try, and it could pay off big time if they can convince customers to "trade up" to paid titles etc.

Just started playing this last night after buying it on sale last year.
Can't believe I was wasting my time on Gears of war2 and halo reach while this was sitting on my steam list.
At 1920x1200 with everything max it looks like a living cartoon and it's so addictive.
Unbelievable game!!!

Right now, most evidence points to the sale starting on June 30th, which is Thursday. I wouldn't expect it before then.

It may sound completely against what is perceived as Activision's strategy, but I think even Kotick isn't blind to gaming trends. If TF2 F2P succeeds (It's got off to a blinding start), I wouldn't be shocked by such a move.

TF2 has been at a rock bottom price for years now, like $2.50 on sale. If would imagine most people who were ever interested in TF2 already own the game so I don't think making it F2P is going to really increase the userbase much. Besides they would have to fill COD with some kind of microstransaction for them to make money on the game like TF2 did, I don't see the community accepting that at all.

Well, considering they announced that they'll be charging a subscription fee for online content, you literally could not be further from the truth on that.

Which evidence is this?

At a guess I'd say it'll start tomorrow and run Monday to Monday - it finished on July 4th last summer I think, I don't see it being different this year.

Despite this conventional logic, it's never done close to the numbers it's doing right now. You can argue it'll be short lived, but I would guess people who were turned off by the game would have quit by now.

These are the numbers in the last 24 hours:

Current Players Peak Today Game

76,744 87,780 Team Fortress 2
49,852 56,009 Counter-Strike
41,517 47,110 Counter-Strike: Source
25,295 27,836 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - Multiplayer
21,924 23,506 Football Manager 2011
18,800 21,554 Call of Duty Black Ops - Multiplayer
15,688 19,153 Sid Meier's Civilization V
11,774 19,454 Terraria
9,093 12,048 Left 4 Dead 2
6,816 8,041 Total War SHOGUN 2

If it can come even close to holding those numbers, it will have caused a MASSIVE increase in the player base.

Based mostly on the fact the Killing Floor summer event starts June 30th. Because it is one of the games with new summer related achievements, it makes sense that it would also be the day the summer sale starts.

Edit: Also, last year a ton of people complained about the sale ending on the holiday, and missing stuff due to that. I imagine it won't end on the 4th this year, but extend beyond it.

For anyone having problems with Saints Row 2, especially on Win 7, download the Gentlemen of the Row and Saints Row 2 Powertools mods. Powertools especially will help, as it'll slow down the game timer to normal levels once you tinker with it a bit to find the right setting (why a professional game developer didn't think to implement a processor-independent timer, I have no idea).

That fixed my game, and it doesn't feel like the cars are in permanent nitrous mode now. It may have fixed the horrendous pop-in issues too, but I need to play it more to confirm that.

Okay, now I got SR2 for free when I pre-ordered Chaos Rising way back. I recently played it on a machine I built this Spring, so I have an Athlon Quad Core and a GTX 460. I hate gangster games, so I didn't play it for long, but for the 30 minutes I played it, the game ran very smooth.
You built it after the game came out though, when the game was out it ran awful.

That being said, even now that hardware overpowers it, doesn't make it a good port because it'll still perform less than a similar looking game beside it.

So homefront MP is pretty dead or how is the population holding up? Not sure if I should bother with the sale on it or wait for even further discounting.

There are maybe 5-6 full/busy servers at any time, which is around 200 people. Though reading the Steam forum it seems they fucked up the server browser so some servers aren't showing since the last patch (end of may).

It's an ok game now that stuffs finally been fixed but yeah, the community is small, which is no surprise. 2 game modes and like 6 maps.

Here are this week's odds. Just like last week, they are extremely accurate. If you're a betting man, keep these in mind when wagering money.

Mo = 10%
Tu = 5%
Wd = 5%
Th = 20%
Fr = 15%
