Only recently found out Steam does cloud saving. This was the selling point for me

Not for all games, though. I think it's just for Steamworks titles, I've seen Just Cause 2 and Portal 2 sync my saves.

I've been playing the demo and it's pretty awesome with the right track. I'm tempted to buy it now but considering this supposed "summer sale" could happen soon, it's probably better for me to wait.
You could support an indie dev if you really like the game. Shocking concept for this thread, I know.

No, I didn't make Beat Hazard.

Wow. It's a genious move on Valve's part considering all of the people who have signed up for Steam to access F2P TF2. The hooks are in.

Don't give me that guilt trip, son, I've supported plenty of indie devs. But I gotta watch out for my wallet.

And its great. I didn't realize Just Cause 2 had cloud saving until reinstalling and and finding out I was exactly where I was last time(which was fantastic). More games need to support it. The Witcher 2 was planned to but it looks like it didn't make it in.

Don't get too excited. Not a lot of games do it. Most notably Valve's own but also a handful of others. But it is a feature available in Steamworks, so more games are likely to take advantage of it in the future.

One feature I'd love to see in Steam is the inclusion a little general purpose online storage space that accompanies each game that we can use to bump saves up or small related files like mods and such, even if it's configured completely manually. It'd be nice not to have to keep track of my save games or go hunting down a widescreen compatibility mod every time I want to replay a game.

You'd think Valve would figure out that we can spy on the registry and get around it somehow. You'd think...

They probably don't care. If anything, it makes you save your money for Steam because you know something's coming.

And it used to sit around the 25-30k mark. That's a fourfold increase!
Yeah, but it's obviously not going to last. It's just the honeymoon period for a lot of people who are being introduced to TF2.

I'd say the number will stabilize around 40k at any given time. Maybe 50k, at most.

I reckon it'll keep going up.

It's FREE!

I don't think there will be a summer sale this year. I'm never going to experience my first summer sale!!
A summer sale is happening as there were a lot of secret achievements that have popped up in games. The only thing is we don't know when.

Played a good chunk of San Andreas today, completing the first 12 or so missions. In some ways the game is much more awesome than I remember. But in other ways it is pretty awful by today's standards. Not sure how long I'll stick with it, but I'm enjoying it for now.

- They absolutely NAILED the atmosphere. It's so perfect. It's probably one of the most perfect games thematically that I've ever played. In this specific regard, GTA4 was a big step back.

- Many missions are janky. I just did the one were you ride a dirtbike along a train, so Smoke can shoot some dudes riding on top. I did it perfect. Never fell off the bike, kept it level with the train the whole time, etc. But I still failed the mission because Smoke didn't kill them all in time. The second attempt, it went fine.

- No checkpoints is a major bummer. Beat a whole long-ass, multi-part mission. Somehow got busted by some random cop at the very end. Have to restart the entire thing. Sigh.

- PC controls are hit and miss. I'm absolutely awful at shooting... which is going to be a pretty big problem, later on. The issue is the PC version has no lock-in :( So, if I'm standing still I can aim and shoot dudes just fine. But by the time they're down, their buds have drained half my health bar. I'm going to have to figure something else.

Driving with mouse camera controls is great, though.

It's awesome that TF2 is seeing such a massive increase in player numbers, but surely people realize that Modern Warfare 2 easily eclipsed 120-130k during its first few weeks, no? And that was just multiplayer. Multiplayer + singleplayer of Modern Warfare 2 was probably 150k peak concurrent.

It doesn't diminish TF2 of course, but it's still worth pointing out that TF2 going F2P isn't making TF2 even pass previous records set by a $60 game.

What? Dude, you just had to follow the damn train!

When you play GTA:SA on a pc you need to use the kbm for on foot stuff including gunplay and switch to a controller for the driving. Best of both worlds.

And now that I've said that I guess I know what ill be playing tomorrow after work.

The best thing about the Summer Sale is that it is the Winter Sale for Aussies. It's too cold to go outside so I'll just play video games.

Huh, I guess I really am one of the few people that don't mind driving in PC games with a mouse and keyboard...

I ended up gifting a friend who's yet to touch a Grand Theft Auto game beyond 4 for all of 20 minuets San Andreas. My god, he's in for QUITE the treat when he starts that bad boy up! I just got all the horseshoes and am working on my gambling level in my playthrough; took a break from missions for a while to do some side stuff.

Anyone experienced with setting up Ben there, Dan that?

When i try and use the HQ filters it says it only supports 32bit color games or something, whats the best setting to use for the game?

I had the same issue...

I ran it with the 3x filter, and the 2nd resolution down....

Its weird cuz the game is graphically intense at all....

Didnt mind playing it in a window... some pretty funny parts in it to. Very refreshing to have a game that is self aware of itself and the genre/industry.

Crazy. Wonder if it passed it? Probably, but hard to screenshot it.

I've been keeping tabs on the Steam player stats page since it went free-to-play and 97k is the highest I've seen the number climb to. It'll surely hit 100k within a week.

It's not known when the sale is to begin. Today is simply an assumption.
WHAT'S THAT YOU SAY? SALE TODAY?
