No one has to follow this thread to be able to know when a potential Summer Sale starts. There will be a thread dedicated to the sale, and it will be on the front page most of the time, so it's going to pretty hard to miss.

I think today is a fine time to start it. Being as, if it a week-long event, it'll end on July 4th.

And that I want it to start sooner rather than later.

I think the 27 through the 7th has a nice ring to it. Hey, they always go through January during the holiday sale.

So when is the sale is going to start? It just seems weird that it is so hard to get a straight answer.

Valve NEVER announces their sale until the day of. That's how it's been for years. More than likely to get people to buy things at the normal prices instead of waiting for a sale date.

But calm down dude, the sale will happen. I'm sure there will be a sale thread and you can easily see it in your Steam client, too.

Not everyone reads this thread, and there are still a lot of Gaffers who don't use Steam, so a new thread specifically dedicated to a major sale may bring a few new converts.

I'm having an urge for rail shooters

I see Aces of the Galaxy and Yars Revenge any others available on steam before I commit to buying them. The suggested games at the bottom are not helpful at all.

No one knows when the sale will start, but presumably Thursday since it's the worst day for me. Valve doesn't usually announce sales ahead of time.

You come into this thread every few hours and ask if the sale is up. It's one thing if you ask a Steam related question that gets buried after a few pages, it's another to ask the same question everyday and get told everyday that the sale is not up yet.

I played a bit of Aces and thought it was pretty bad. You're better off buying REZ HD (XBLA) or Sin & Punishment 2 (Wii).

Thanks for the suggestion I already have Sin, Aces (PC version) still looks decent to me I guess I can ask my friend to see if the demo is still up on live and try it out. If the sale comes around and drops the game to $2-5 I wont regret it.

I'd be fine with another 2 dollar indie game, actually. I was looking through my wishlist the other day and there aren't many big-studio games I want. So if/when the Summer Sale comes, I'm mostly going to be picking up indie games I haven't had time for or didn't even know existed anyway.
