ah seems like i can't download it directly from Steam
You have to install it yourself, it's very pain free, google it to find the download, there's some very simple instructions in the folder you get, you basically just move the folder to the mods folder in Steam and restart Steam. Well worth it.

Borderlands for £4.99 i'm guessing its worth it? Never played it before and only heard good things.
Buy GOTY version. It's great loot whoring fps-rpg. Multiplayer (thanks gamespy technology) can be dodgy though.

In my opinion it is, others will disagree, as this is life. But I do agree with those who suggest the GOTY edition over the base.

Regarding what? It's one of my favorite games ever. And I poured years into the original DoD, the clear difference between the two I think did it a service. Valve didn't go the route of upgrading the old and brought in new classes/concepts that I enjoy. Even though they bailed on it. (For TF2 so I don't mind!)

I know people disagree, but I like the DoD/DoD:S split far more than CS/CS:S.

I played the demo of bastion and i wish the pc controls weren't so poor and there was more, in depth world building. I couldn't care less about the combat because of how clunky it feels.

Let's see what Garshasp has that GOW doesn't:

-a full 1080p resolution
-real forms of anti-aliasing thanks to advanced nvidia technology
-a flawless 60 fps
-support for x360 controller
And not a single word about gameplay for both franchises.

:p

Got a refund on From Dust. Apparently Ubisoft told Steam to go through with them, provided you haven't played the game.

What should I buy with the 15 I got back?

If you haven't made your purchase yet I vote for Bastion as well. I've put 5 hours into it in the last 2 days and it just keeps getting better and better. I highly recommend playing it with a nice set of headphones. The combination of the music and the narrator's voice being right inside your head is simply perfect.

The keyboard controls were fixed in a patch to be isometric and are now pretty great. The demo got the patch too I think, so try it out.

You can get it through Desura, which is basically Steam for mods. It'll auto-recognize HL2 and getting mods with it is super easy. Excellent program.

I played it like 2 days ago. It was isometric and you could move in 8 directions but that with the camera angle and all that it just didn't sit well with me. I always feel like im gonna fall off.

So what's this I'm hearing about PC Gamer and Steam gearing up for an online magazine type thing at PAX?

Eznark was telling me he is in some sort of PC Gamer beta on Steam right now. Doesn't look like much right now. Couple videos to look at...seemed like it could be a video magazine like QORE on PSN.

Look, I like to use hard facts for my comparisons, not opinion.
Those facts in no way gauge the quality of the game. It's like saying Ridge Racer 7 is a better game on consoles than Portal 2 because it runs at double the framerate and more than double the resolution. Who gives a fuck?

If your enjoyment of games is based on back of the box bulletpoints, I pity you.

To a lot of people (myself included) 30fps is a fundamentally broken game.

For me if its 30 FPS and never sways good enough. Nothing worse than a game that fluctuates. I haven't played garshop or w/e its called..just saying.

Beat Dungeon Siege 3 today. I really enjoyed this game. It's a Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance clone and the combat, while not being anything new or revolutionary, was completely competent. As someone who enjoys that type of gameplay, I had a lot of fun with it. I played the gun girl, so I always had to be dodging around and changing weapon styles to suit whatever mob I was facing at the time. It might have been more boring with a melee character, not sure though.

The story, while not even approaching some of Obsidian's greatest works, is still a level above most Diablo clones. What was interesting to me is that there is a considerable amount of ambiguity about what really happened in the events leading up to the start of the game and wanting to know the truth kept me interested for the first half. By then I was invested enough to want to see the second half and how it all plays out. The biggest failing of the story though is for the first half you know nothing about the primary antagonist and her motivations. That makes it hard to really feel compelled to want to defeat her. Halfway into the game you both learn the truth and learn all about her though.

The quality of the writing however is superb with quite a few humorous touches here and there. One of the companions is the typical Obsidian funny companion, but I didn't find him until the last third of the game so that was disappointing. Plan on playing as him in my next go around. Voice acting, except for one notable exception
Radiant Boy
was consistently good with a few being excellent.

There are plenty of choices to be made in the game, and while most of the early ones weren't that memorable, by about a third of the way into the game you were getting the typical Obsidian choices where there's no clear good or bad and I enjoyed having to think through them and deciding what I wanted to do. I'm not quite sure how much effect your choices really have on the game though except on the end game cutscene (which is a Fallout-esque cutscene.) I'd have to play through it again making different choices to really know. They didn't feel that impactful though.

The visuals were really nice at 1080p. Texture work, spell effects, monster design were all good. All very generic, but that doesn't really bother me. The NPCs though are really interesting looking. There are good looking ones, ugly ones, and weird looking ones, but they all...I don't know...were just different than what you typically run into in video games.

The primary method of character customization is in tailoring your powers (of which you have 9) to fit your play style and choosing. It's a mediocre system, I like that you have to make decisions and can't just do everything, but the changes are so incremental that you never really feel the effect of your decisions.

Where the game fails hard is in the loot and the stats. There's loot. Lots and lots of loot. And there's stats, lots and lots of stats. But that's it, they're just there. I never felt like they ever had any real effect on the game except maybe I would do 2-3 more hp in damage. They don't feel important. I just pick up everything that drops and every 5 minutes or so pull up the inventory and equip the most expensive item I've found. For the gun girl her appearance doesn't change that much, but for some other characters they can really start looking very different. It just all felt so throw away. It didn't hinder my enjoyment, but it certainly didn't add to it either.

Technical stuff: Plays great with gamepad, runs great at 1080p and I never had a technical problem (which is kind of amazing considering the developer.) I hear co-op is dumb though so that's too bad.

Tl;dr - A competent console Diablo clone with an actual story and good writing but lousy loot and stats. Fun to play though! I really hope Obsidian gets to make another one, the ending clearly indicates they want to.

The point is that god of war is a better game. That garshasp game has the typical PC advantages but the game is awful, I was telling people to avoid it when it was like $2 during the summer sale.

She can be so broken. If you get her talent that makes it so she regains power for crits, and use it with her first empowered ability, you can do ridiculous damage. You can do 5+ crit shots (at point blank range) with that ability and it will instantly recharge the power you used to execute the ability. You can basically 2 shot bosses.

Wow, I didn't know that! I guess I'm glad I didn't break her, I enjoyed most of the boss battles.

I didn't comment on the difficulty, it wasn't incredibly tough or even really difficult, but it was hard enough that I had to pay attention or else I'd die rather rapidly. And I did two or three times on a few bosses.
