Gabe never was that big
I actually had no clue... And I thought Gabe looked quite big there.

What about the pirate one? Obvious photoshop probably.

I wonder how many F2P users end up buying things from the regular store for the first time.

One of the servers I regularly play in has been inundated with F2Per's, so much so that most of the regs can't get in ahalf the time, almost all of these new players talk about how they "have to" buy stuff. The most frequent vanity item I've seen is the medic update taunt.

I find Doug Lombardi mesmerizing.
For some reason Doug Lombardi and Jeremiah Slaczka mix in my head and they are one and the same person.

They don't even look alike! The same happened when I was little and I thought David Schwimmer and Nicolas Cage looked alike.

Welp, TF2 going F2P was probably the smartest thing Valve has ever done.

Amazing achievement. Gabe is truly a visionary.

I'll always love Doug because when I was locked out of my Steam account and the dumbfuck customer support didn't even understand my issue, I went to the Steam forum and created a thread about it and, I kid you not, 15 minutes later Doug PM'd me asking for my support ticket number and I was almost instantly back in my account.

That Civ5 update. Loving it. I really wasn't expecting this much post-launch support (but I guess, considering the state it shipped in, the game deserves it).

Anyone have Ultimate Doom on Steam and using windows 7? Does it have some flicker on the top for you? Also there is some lag too. Any way to fix it?

not trying to downplay it or something but... you know...it's free now. Also a small percentage ( like with every f2p concept ) will spend money in the hatstore.

Finally added a hotseat Mode to civ5. That took ages.

BurtonJ is my go to man. But lets be honest, if you work at Valve, you are sexy.

Yup. Wondered why nobody seemed to care. This will finally get me back into the game again, since I will play it with a friend soon then.

Civ V kept crashing at this one turn, I tried it again today and it worked! But then it crashed 15 turns later. I'm playing on a Huge map so maybe that's the problem. I refuse to sacrifice my graphics!

Do you still have that problem?

...
That was the reason why I stopped playing and I hoped they had it fixed by now.

I only had problems with Civ freezing/getting stuck at a turn when playing multiplayer with 2 other friends. We're still to finish that match but keep ocassionally running into trouble, always guessed it was a connection issue.

At this point i think they're just trying to delay their inevitable crush and demise against Oda Nobunaga, mwahah.

btw how come we never played a big-ass Civ V match with GAF? Fastest speed would probably be best to make sure we finish it, but man its a no-brainer. Its not like ping was an issue..

I gotta say I was thinking about buying some of the .99 cent stuff, but I'm definitely not gonna pay $30 for anything. Some of the high level bundles were $29.99.

I think it was a good move though.. If I spend even $2 it'll be more than I originally would have because I wasn't considering DLing it till it was free.

How many would be possible?

The release of the Hacker Evolution was pushed back on Steam from this Thursday (June 30, 2011) to July 31, 2011. HMM?

Maybe Smash was right in saying that the sale will be 3 weeks long and coincide with the beginning and end of the Killing Floor Summer Event.

Until after the sale. Nothing would sell during or directly after the sale.

So I just discovered a little tool called Source Finagler for Mac. It's extremely useful, although I wonder if using it to look inside .gcfs caused some of them to get fragmented. Also, someone from GAF sent me a gift copy of Half-Life 2: Deathmatch, but I forgot who it was... If it was you, I'd just like to say thanks!

I was always under the impression that Civ IV was a lot more popular on GAF.

Oh man, I totally bit. I preordered the Deus Ex Human Revolution Collector's Edition (I love typing that out in full!) for only €64. That's HALF PRICE, or, SAME AS A SINGLE GAME IN OVERPRICED EUROPE. And I only did that because I totally missed out on the cheapest Augmented Edition for 35 I saw earlier this week. The special they had ended prematurely. :(

Here's hoping to not chickening out on this preorder. I kind of wanted to save the money but fuck all.

Just got the game - put in like 25 hours but I'm willing to venture into the online with some gaffers.

Hmm Lead and Gold got updated for me along with Hamilton's Great Adventure. Can't find any info. Fatshark developed both...

If you look through the Achievement list then you will see that both have achievements related to the Summer Sale.

Civ V is better IMO. They took away a lot of the fat and its just more to the point. I actually think the aspect that benefits the most out of that is the multiplayer.

It had a rough buggy start and Civ IV got incredibly cheap, so its only normal that Civ IV is still widely played. Same thing happened going from III to IV, i didnt liked the change and stayed with III for a long time.

As for max players, im thinking 8 (talking about players specifically, as in AI as well, no idea about real players)? not sure what's the limit but if other Civ games are to go by it could get laggy.

So Football Manager is $15.99 on Amazon and I apparently have a $10 credit for Game Downloads.. it says that it allows activation on Steam with a CD Key. Has anyone downloaded a game from Amazon? Can I activate a DD from another site or do I need to have bought it physically?

Thanks!

Honestly, if I had to seriously criticise Valve, it would be because of their shit customer support.

You shouldn't have to go directly to Valve employees because the people working at Steam support don't understand your simple problem.

Uh, I started up Left 4 Dead, and got a message saying my GTX 570 "does not appear in our database. Consequently, you may or may not be able to play game with sufficient stability or performance".

Wat.

Just means it's not in their database, doesn't mean it won't work.
