Escape from Butcher Bay is fucking awesome (it comes with Dark Athena). If you liked EFBB then you will most likely enjoy DA as well.

Just a heads up, it is the style of DRM where you automatically get activations back as opposed to having to call to get more.

Is it the same for the retail copy?(The one I own :O)

Yeah, saw that too. How bad is it?

Never noticed it.

I bought it last time there was a sale. I thought it was terrible. Xbox FPS games just don't hold up.

That's why you get the PC version. And it holds up very well, and the one you get with Dark Athena is the upgraded verison as well.

Just a quickie to continue on from the DE3 post at the top of the page... does anyone know if the extra mission is worth it? If I buy the AE from here in Australia or the UK it comes with an extra mission as well as the other stuff. If I get it from the US (far easier) it doesn't.

Picked up MW1.

Was surprisingly easy to get back into the swing of it. Seemed a little sluggish at first for a PC shooter but.. it's not bad. Active enough games, too.

Also, I never knew I had so much nostalgia for a 4 year old online FPS, haha. Playing this takes me back to playing this on the 360 when the whole Modern Warfare thing was still pretty fresh and interesting.

Also, I forgot how mental games of COD were online. Played that for about half an hour and I think my eyes are bleeding.

Yeah, MW1 still holds up and is still probably the best COD game. Still really tempted for MW2 though, maybe because we know it will stand as the last real IW game.

EDIT: Y'know what I never played COD1. I hopped on at COD2. Does it hold up?

I got the extra mission and played it. IMO, not worth it. In between in the story instead of getting some information directly you will be redirected through the whole city and rescue one dude (15-20 min. gameplay of absolutely the same as the whole game). After that you get the grenade launcher. Never used it though as I played stealth.

So you don't miss much (has no relevance to the story) apart from sligthly after that mission you see that guy (you rescue in the bonus mission) escaping while you escape some other way and you have no clue who he is. (that scene is totally out of context if you havn't played the mission). But it is not like you learn much about him in that mission. Just his name and who he is related to. A little fan service for DX1, I guess.

I have the PC version, and it still feels clunky and blurry as hell no matter how I tweak the graphics options. Obviously my opinion, but after playing it a few hours I couldn't find anything good to say about the game.

Thanks for the info! I never played the first one (gasp! shock! horror!) so in that case I'll stop trying to look for a cheap UK/AU one and just get the US one instead.

You're getting two games for the price of one for 5$, even if it has TAGES. A rolling 30 day activation after the 3rd activation to get your 3 activations back. That's not the insane bullshit Risen has.

Can anybody confirm if Clash of Heroes is Steamworks? If I can get this cheap from Getgames I only need Rock of Ages, Limbo, Blocks that Matter, Bastion and Binding of Isaac for the rest of the year.

Do I have to unlock the original Riddick by playing through Dark Athena or is it available right from the start?

No they are both available from the get go.

It's Ubisoft so I doubt it.

The Cartel is also published by Ubisoft but is Steamworks. The Clash of Heroes page shows Steamworks features like VAC, so I would assume so unless it's a mistake.

How's Get Games? I'm very interested but first time i hear of it.

Well, I only bought Dungeon Siege III so I can't really comment on it but it only asked me the basic stuff Steam and other online retailers do and best of all I could change the currency it charged me at. Got the code for Steam immediately.

Edit: Gamersgate says you need a 3rd party download for Clash of Heroes and D2D directly says it's Steamworks, so...

so i'm playing COD1 from the Warchest and it'll give me occasional hitching/hiccups/split second freezes from time to time while playing single player.

anyone else have this happen?

fuckin annoying.

Honestly can't remember / don't know. Steam has made me second-guess every purchase because of what may go on sale the next day! Agh.

Dungeon Siege 3 may get a sale to promote the new DLC, but I have a pretty hard time believing it will go under $20 this year.

As much as I love adding to my backlog, I'm going to have to pass on Riddick after buying Red Orchestra 2, Space Marine and Rock of Ages in the last week. I'm sure it'll go on sale again by the time I would have got around to it.

so i fixed it

in nvidia control panel, 'manage 3d settings' ...reset my settings to default = COD1 no longer hitching.

i guess it didn't like the settings i had changed in there.

and yeah, Riddick is worth the cash. two games for $6 ...sweet.

Bought the Riddick game after finding out it comes with the original (guessing you launch it from the main menu of the new one or something?). Wont be playing them for a while though, with everything that's coming out..

Really, BS DRM aside. I've played the first one.

Its a good game... competent not mind blowing, solid game. Plus StarBreeze tried to infuse the game with some soul, not the piece of shit by the numbers FPS experience everyone is used to by now.

So buy Riddick at the diabolical price of 6.66 monetary units and PLAY THE THING, don't let it roth in the backlog fuckers.

Riddick is tempting. I played both of em on PS3, and I had fun until they got way too combat focused towards the end. The gunplay sucked.

Let's just put it in the list with sweet games with shit gunplay -Stalkers, Falloutets, bark, bark, etc-

So Snuggler pick it up for the improved visuals and superior control that helps the sucky shooting. :)

You dissed Stalker's gunplay so I'm not gonna buy Riddick just to spite you.

So I took the bullet and pre-ordered Clash of Heroes from Getgames. Can't complain about 8.50€ (paid in $). I'll see if it's really Steamworks when it's released.
