I think I have you in my friendslist (Zoro here), so if you see me playing HP, feel free to give a yell.

Wasteland Angel demo is "up" but does nothing when clicking the demo :(

I really want to try this before the sale ends on it. I'm a sucker for simple, arcade, shooters.

I mean in-game persona. NFS has a seperate friendlist and sin't integrated too well.

Add me as Zaangamer.

Did you try deleting clientregistry.blob and restarting your computer?

Anyway, just copy your steamapps folder and put it on your desktop or something, and then reinstall steam and copy it back in. Easy peasy.

Yes I did, I'm going to try uninstalling Steam now. I think I should also backup Userdata.

Thanks btw.

OMG I did it!!

I didn't have to re-install Steam after all, I just deleted the "AppCache" and "Config" folder and it worked!

Congratulations! Been reading your posts trying to think of something and had nothing that I knew would help, so glad you worked it out. Where did you get the info about deleting appcache and config? Should it be something in the OP as a "worst case scenario" / if clientregistry.blob fails? Is it common enough according to the webpage you found out about it from that it needs to be? Just curious. :)

So, is Safecracker any good?

Only impression I've read in this thread was by Joe Molotov which gave it a thumbs up, and he's usually spot on with his reviews of things.

Gamestop is useful for me for once.

I trade in Hot Pursuit on 360 for 14 dollars, and now I can pick up the PC version for $10.20.

I'm literally down to $40 right now and that has to last me until dad pays me part of my paycheck he owes me but I don't know when that is...I also need to buy a MyMathLab code for calc 2 which is at least $80 :(

Calc 2 is the single most failed course in every university. Enjoy.

Yeah I know, some people I know have failed it too, so naturally It'll be my hardest course.

I had to take calc 1 over :( Second time I got almost an A though, iirc.

Oh along with Logic Circuits (seems easy enough), semiconductor devices, and phys 2.

Man, FUCK the My___Lab code nonsense. Expensive as shit.

I have a MyITLab course, and the code to simulate the software on their website is more expensive than the actual software.

I feel like it's the academic equivalent of a paid console multiplayer code. Nothing they're doing is ACTUALLY expensive, the publishers just want money because people like buying used instead of paying for their expensive ass books.

I got 17% on my calc 2 midterm. But that was being I was being dumb and probably attended 1 or 2 classes, without having done any work whatsoever. The final was really easy...I got around 95% on it.

Electricity & Magnetism is by far the hardest course I've taken in university, followed by an introductory Relativity & Quantum Physics course.

I envy the people that can actually manage a physics or mathematics degree.

Logic Circuits should be easy...it's just going to be logic gates and boolean algebra, with some Karnaugh maps thrown in.

Semiconductor devices is probably going to be trickier, depending on what the course involves. I'm guessing you'll be looking at the inner workings of transistors, as well as transistor based devices like opamps. Electronics courses are always a little tough, as they tend to be difficult to grasp (especially when they involve imaginary numbers and phasing).

Physics 2? If that involves quantum physics, then I'm very, very sorry for you.

You majoring in computer engineering? I'm currently taking Calc 2, Physics 1, and CS 2050-Algorithm Design. I had to buy codes for both Calc 2 and Physics. All this talk is really encouraging. I take microprocessor study and circuit theory next semester. Yay.

Sounds like he is.

I got my degree a year and a half ago, now. Not that I really put it to much use...I'm just a Java developer/designer. I'm kind of glad I'm working with high level languages though...low level programming can be very frustrating at times, due to horrendous documentation for microcontrollers and peripherals.

My favorite course during all of university was High-Level Systems Design, where we learned to implement a pipelined MIPS architecture. It was very informative, and extremely rewarding. If ever you have the option to take something like that, do it. All of the hardware/logic is implemented using VHDL, in Quartus II. VHDL is code used to describe hardware (made with logic gates), and can be run on FPGA boards. It really is a very unique way of coding, and takes a completely different mindset, as it's 100% parallel. It feels great when you successfully implement working hardware designs.

Yeah, I transferred from a 2 community college and after one semester in the 4 year I changed from CS to CE (technology though...electrical engineering they offer a non-tech degree but I'm not changing my major after two years)

I've already taken stuff like changing number bases years ago and AND/OR logic functionality. Had a bad semester after my mom died but I hope I can pick it up soon, just that my classes now are pretty 8-3 every day and I still need to take a COOP program.

Mostly I want to be the guy designing the chips. One day every computer will have Gvaz in them :) I wanted to do CE for this reasoning, also because I'm terrible with coding. (too impatient, feels like I have to work backwards because you have to make the program do a thing, then make the container for it bothers me to no end. Also java passing info from file to file and no way to check in between the data is remaining the same, woooo)

If you want to be designing the chips, then take courses involving VHDL.

It's extremely rewarding work, and I envy you if land a VHDL job. :)

I have a bit of bad news for you, then: You design the chips with code. It's also much, much harder to debug than Java. Java is just about the easiest language in the world to work with. It just sounds like you're a little uncomfortable with object oriented programming at this point. Don't worry, it'll click with you someday.

Calc 2 was supposed to be hard? News to me. Calc was split into 3 courses for me. Calc 2 was the hardest of the 3, but still not too bad.

Holy crap we're way off topic here.

Sorry about the derail, does neogaf have a college/uni thread? It should.

It's probably the teacher I had and me going from straight up C -> java, that I felt in a lot of ways java was a step back, though java automates a lot of things which is nice I felt like I didn't have that much control over it.

To get more on topic: What language is Steam written in, does anyone know?

How I remember Calc 2:

Here are hundreds of general forms of integrals. Memorize how to solve them. How will this be useful? If you should ever be stranded on a deserted island and some pirates come along, there is a chance they may present you with a list of these integrals to solve. If passing this test guarantees your rescue and failing it guarantees your death, we hope you do well in this course.

Then I took Electricity & Magnetism and then they gave us all of the general integrals as cheat sheets on our tests, anyway.

Sounds about right.

And then, Electricity & Magnetism is basically: there is an electric field in the same of a small dog. Describe the shape of the small dog using integrals in different spaces, and calculate the strength of the field at the tail of the dog.

Seriously. Fuck Electricity & Magnetism.

Any Civ 5 DLC worth buying? edit: wait, the DLC isn't even on sale. Damnit.

Thanks man. I don't now if it's common, but I did found a lot of people with the same problem (even some youtube videos). Everybody recommended re-installing Steam, but I found a thread in the official Steam forums that suggested deleting the appcache and config folders. Here it is:

Steam doesn't download games

So glad it worked :p

Off-Topic:
Logic Circuits class is the shit. I had so much fun in that class even though the prof hated me. Felt like a mad scientist. Worst part was when we played with EPROMs at the end and everything we learned prior to that point suddenly felt useless. Still fun though.

From the Civ 5 thread...

marvelharvey said:
Korea has become one of my favourite civs to play as. With the right kind of strategy, you can outclass Babylon at science. If I were to rate the DLC subjectively in terms of 'fun':

1) Inca
2) Korea
3) Polynesia
4) Babylon
5) Spain
6) Vikings

But in terms how good they are I would say:

1) Babylon
2) Korea
3) Inca
4) Viking, Spain, Polynesia.

The bottom three are quite situational to the map type/victory conditions/luck, whereas the top three seem to work very well in most situations.

I've bought all of the DLC for Civ 5 last weekend but I'm still working my way through the single player campaign. I have a few more difficulties and civs to beat it with before moving on to the scenarios.

I know that everyone wants the DLC to go on sale but I had no problem shelling out 50$ for it all given that I've only been playing the single player campaign of Civ 5 (which I purchased for 25$) and I've gotten over 100 hours out of it thus far. I have used the Polynesian's and the Dane's in Emperor runs on archipelago type maps and their specialisations make them really fun to use on those map types, particularly the Polynesians. I just love lining the useless tiles along the coast of an island with moai's and the ability to embark from the beginning of the game is pretty huge. You can get a lead on discovering ruins and populate the surrounding areas faster.

Damn I really want to like Civ5, but I downloaded the demo and the tutorial is greyed out. Ihave no idea what I am doing :(

Sounds like an occasional display/rendering bug I see when I've been playing a game of Civ 5 for far too long.

I'm afraid of falling into the hype for the Binding of Isaac. Any new game by part of the Meat Boy dev team I want to play but at the same time nothing has interested me in this one. We shall see what happens whenever it releases.
