I'm afraid of falling into the hype for the Binding of Isaac. Any new game by part of the Meat Boy dev team I want to play but at the same time nothing has interested me in this one. We shall see what happens whenever it releases.

With the re-playability and roguelike features I'm definitely interested, just not sure if I will jump right at it. Will probably wait to see what people say. Dungeons of Dredmor was a pleasant surprise so maybe this will be too.

I think the key things are this:
- It's a side project, not intended to be "THE NEXT TEAM MEAT HOLY SHIT GAME"
- It's short and cheap, but replayable

So I'm looking forward to it as a small, modest, slight game that I can enjoy for a little while and move on from, not a GOTY OMG type situation.

Now you guys have Reminded me I have a Calc 2 test on Tuesday.

I also had a Logic Circuits class at anther school, enjoyed it a lot. Still have the Breadboard we were required to get.

The Elven Legacy games aren't bad. They're about the closest things to console style tbs/srpg games on PC, that I know of. A little like Advance Wars even, with a fantasy theme.

Super sold.

I'm wondering if I should bite into Civilization.

See I LOVE "create my own nation games", but I hate HATE turn based strategy games, particularly ones that focus on you "taking over the world".

Can someone tell me more about Civilization V?

There is a demo. That should help you more than someone explaining the game to you. :)

So I'm planning to do a clean install of Win7 over XP, do I need to turn off Steam Guard or anything or will I be fine after reinstalling it and maybe having to check my email for a code. I suppose it's a one-time-only thing unless they see you logging into another computer, right?

For Hot Pursuit how do I know what graphics card it is using? Initially when it was installing it only gave me the option to configure with Intel HD graphics but I want to make sure it is using my Nvidia Geforce GT540M. Also what other display settings do you guys recommend for Hot Pursuit?

Yeah you just get a code in the e-mail and once you've entered it, it becomes a "trusted" computer and you won't have to do it again. Could be easier just to disable Steam guard and re-enable it once you've re-installed.

Suddenly wish there were more board games on Steam. Just got in a mood to play em.
Board games are best played in RL. At least you can flip the board over in disgust when you lose.

Let me show you through these halls, my friend, where treasures of indie gaming await...

Delve Deeper is something I consider a virtual boardgame. It gets the feeling across even though its not "really" a board game.

Military conquest is one of the ways you can win Civ but you can also win through cultural, diplomatic and scientific victories. There are eight policy paths to choose from, each providing different benefits and play styles to choose from.

Download the demo.

I haven't played it since the weeks after release. Have they patched it so that the other options are more viable? Initially I felt it was HEAVILY balanced towards the military option.

It's totally viable to win through culture, diplomacy or science in the higher difficulty levels. My Emperor run that finally cleared that difficulty was my first diplomatic victory. Even if you aren't militaristic you'll have to be ready to defend yourself but you can do that with a few indirect fire units based in your cities and a decent naval presence. On my first science victory in King I was hemmed into once corner of the map with only five cities while the cheating ass A.I. were ruling these sprawling continent spanning empires. I fought off one of those empires for the better part of a thousand years before jetting off into outer space.

Some Civs are more viable only on certain map sizes and types, some civs are more flexible and can work in almost any situation. Sometimes it's luck of the draw in terms of what land and resources you're given at that start and what you can scramble for, even who you're competing against. The competing civs have behaviors that I'm still learning. Well, I'm mostly figuring out who the douchebags are.

It's totally viable to win through means other than war...but war is totally a blast in this game.

Can someone tell me if Civ5 would run on my Macbook Pro?

Here's the specs: 2.4 GHZ Intel Core i5 4GB of DDR3 Ram

It's the 2010 model

You missed out the most important spec - does it have Intel graphics or something better like ATI or nVidia? If it's Intel, you might have trouble. Otherwise go for it.

It's the sequel to Fantasy Wars, which was a spiritual successor to Fantasy General which of course was the fantasy spin off of Panzer General. If you enjoyed any of the games I just mentioned, you'll probably like Elven Legacy.

I don't think there is such a thing as a macbook pro with intel graphics. (aside for graphics switching, of course)

Man what gives about civ dlc? I been waiting to pick up civ5 with dlc. Dlc never goes on sale.

If I'm reading this right, the DLC seems to have gone on sale twice(bundle, I haven't checked all of them individually) once in April, and once in July. It's weird that it doesn't in my opinion, but from what I've read here it seems the base game is more than enough to help endure the wait. I also checked Civilization and Scenario Pack: Denmark - The Vikings to see if that went on sale from time to time, but that seems to have been in correlation with the sale in July, which you can see here.

I might just be off my rocker here and I'm not sure what graphics switching is, but if I go to their store it seems the stock GPU is Intel graphics. Am I missing something here? I'm not too familiar with macs, which is why I'm confused.

edit: Responded to another post as well.

Ohh... I forgot about the non-pro macbook pros.

What's the steam policy on using VPN to activating Russian games? $25 for Dead Island is tempting.
In Poland it retails at $27.
I don't think you need Polish VPN to activate it on Steam.

PuzzleQuest good?

I've only played it on 360 in the past, but it's worth $3.33 if you like that kinda thing. Has a lot of RPG elements and is pretty long.
