I launch it the other day and see the daily deal on 'Dangerous High School Girls in Trouble!' take a while to check it out, looks pretty creative so I decide I'll gift it to my girlfriend. Saw there was 47 left in the sale, oh shit that's seconds so I go bam bam bam and buy it. Then I see the receipt hit me for full price. It's just $10 vs $5 but that kind of irritates me as it told me $5 up until the final step of the transaction when I was going to quickly to notice it.
So the email I got:
Now this is a game I purchased as an unsent gift and the best they can do is some steam bucks and using up my get out of jail free card? So I sent this semi angry message:
What do you reckon my odds are?
This is why I try to remember to take screenshots of deals when buying stuff online (I know that screenshots are hardly irrefutable proof, but I have found them useful in a few conflicts with online vendors). If it really said $5 on your order confirmation before you hit submit or whatever, Valve should definitely refund you the $5 (and not as a Steam credit.) You agreed to the $5 price, they can't charge you for $10. I suspect however that it didn't and you just missed the fact that it changed to $10.
Since you don't have a screenshot, I think your odds of reaching a outcome you deem satisfactory is pretty slim.
