You can search for a game and see the price history back to February 1st, 2010.
Will you respect me more if I get all of the cheesemints?Nabs said:Sonic CD is confirmed Steamworks (cheesemints). I hope SG does make it to PC and gets the same treatment.

Yes.Stallion Free said:Will you respect me more if I get all of the cheesemints?
Republic Commando received generally good reviews with mostly minor complaints. It is said to give players the most enjoyable Star Wars experience out of the other games, despite its lack of Jedi. Many complaints have been about its short campaign, which is only about 10 hours long and supported by an only average multiplayer experience.

Left 4 Dead patches have done that for me before. You just gotta wait a bit sometimes.3chopl0x said:And now I can't even play the game.. Incomplete installation error when it's doing it's first time setup thing (Yes I have verified etc.)

It seems you missed the sale by a few minutes.
As with most software products, we do not offer refunds or exchanges on games, DLC or in-game items purchased on our website or through the Steam Client.
As a one-time customer service gesture we can issue you store credit for the amount of your purchase into your Steam Wallet. The credit will also remove the title or item from your account.

I find that unacceptable. This is an unopened ungiven gift game. I did not miss the sale by minutes I missed it by seconds, I was one step away from final confirmation when the price on your game changed. The best I can get for this is using up my customer service bailout to get back to square one? I want the game for the price I started the transaction at or I want to return my effectively unopened gift game for a full refund that does not potentially come back to haunt me if I encounter a future problem. If you are unable to do either of these things please escalate my case. I just want the same service any retail store would give me.
Sounds like Reddit could use an exciting tale like yours.Fjord said:What do you reckon my odds are?

Not sure, man. I mean, it depends on what the order-confirmation message stated. If it changed to $10 then I guess he should have been more observant, but if it said $5 when he clicked "yes, it is okay to charge me this" then he has a case for Steam to eat the cost and give both him the price he wanted and the publisher a full price-size cut. It would be their own fault for having a system where such a last-second turnaround of price could happen rather than detecting it and putting up a message saying the order can no longer be completed at that price.morningbus said:I don't know, you missed the sale. I can't think of many retail outlets that would give you the sale price on a sale you missed. Valve has contracts with these companies and they have to shut them off at some point. It isn't fair to the developer that Valve can seemingly extend the sale on a whim.
Fjord said:So I'm in the middle of some angry emails with Steam.
I launch it the other day and see the daily deal on 'Dangerous High School Girls in Trouble!' take a while to check it out, looks pretty creative so I decide I'll gift it to my girlfriend. Saw there was 47 left in the sale, oh shit that's seconds so I go bam bam bam and buy it. Then I see the receipt hit me for full price. It's just $10 vs $5 but that kind of irritates me as it told me $5 up until the final step of the transaction when I was going to quickly to notice it.
So the email I got:
Now this is a game I purchased as an unsent gift and the best they can do is some steam bucks and using up my get out of jail free card? So I sent this semi angry message:
What do you reckon my odds are?
I really like what you've done here. It's the same angle of attack that South Park uses to critique various mindsets, minus the parody aspect. I genuinely find it entertaining.LocoMrPollock said:Just make your girlfriend eat something off of the 99 cents menu instead of splurging for a value meal next time you take her out. That should save you the $5 and all will even out in the end.
My advice is: life is too short to let $5 irritate you. It is not worth the time you spent getting annoyed and sending out pointlessly snappy e-mails about. Spend that time instead in making sure such tiny, tiny, tiny things don't bother you in the future. You'll live a happier and probably longer life.Fjord said:So I'm in the middle of some angry emails with Steam.

While downloading, the speed goes all over the place from 0 to 300 kbs, which my connection can't hit at all. It will go for long stretches of time and will not download at all and then just stop altogher. updates and other games work fine but this is really baffling. Any help or ideas why this is happening?
Carm said:Ever since it was moved to the new content delivery system it's been a broken mess. I tried to install the game from my back up and it wouldn't, just tried to download it instead. So I let it download and tried to back up the new install, won't let me back it up. Others are having download issues.
Only game on Steam that I own, that will not let me back it up.

I think you're being rather unreasonable here, putting it politely. You missed the sale, simple as. I'm surprised they're offering a refund TBH. I once bought Borderlands GoTY and then an hour later bought the 2K pack with Borderlands GoTY in it. I didn't ask them to refund my first Borderlands purchase because it was my fuck-up. Almost wish I had now, they're more accomodating than I expected.Fjord said:So I'm in the middle of some angry emails with Steam.
