Maybe at 5$ and when I'm drunk. That demo was the worst one I played in years.

Lol same. It's one of those cases where I'm not sure if it's even worth $1, since my time would be much better spent with another game.

I actually thought the Duke Nukem demo was kind of clever, silly, and fun, but I would also probably wait until a sale for like $5. Naturally I never play games past the 1.5 hour mark when I buy them, so it's not like the game being good or bad is a concern to me. :p

I have a morbid curiosity in it. Every time I see it on sale I think "maybe the internet was wrong/being ironic and it is awesome" but I can never push myself to actually buy it.

I bought the first Call of Juarez game a couple of days ago and every time I launch it I get "Your Serial Number is incorrect. Please reinstall The Call of Juarez." There is no CD key. I tried Googling the problem but didn't find any answers. Any one else run into this?

Yosumin is a pretty fun little puzzle game. Not sure if it is worth $5 though, I got the game with the SE complete collection.

I spent like an hour yesterday in Magicka fiddling around casting spells just outside the starting castle area after the first act. Very interesting spell casting system.

Suicided like a dozen times by accident, and killed the guy down by the training dummies (couldnt rez him o_O) game is fun, but Im hesistant to continue, the spell system feels so clunky to me, on controller and on keyboard. I cant seem to speed up my reaction time much at all.

I tried googling and it looks like people have had the problem, but I guess you didn't find anything useful.

I would say to try reverifying your game cache integrity in Steam, then trying Steam support, and/or maybe Ubi support. If it's on your Steam account someone should be able to verify and help you with it, I would think.

I think one my friends used macro's online to speed up spells, but button smashing works like 80& of time.

If verifying the files doesn't fix it, I would just take the easy way out and crack it.

RPS has some impressions.

Sounds fun, but frustrating (they say that things can feel luck based at times and that the physics can get a little funky).

I like blowing things up and the trailer looks enjoyable. I'll probably pick it up when it's $5 or less.
That's more or less true for every physics based puzzle game ever made. Even Boom Blox.

Verifying didn't help and neither did a crack. I did find some info on a torrent about editing a registry.exe in the game folder but I don't have that. And someone else says to edit the setup.reg file which I don't have in there either. I guess I'm going to have to deal with Steam support. :-(

I assume the game isn't actually asking for a CD key/serial number, right?

No, it's just saying that it's incorrect.

I found this in a comments section:

FOUND THE PROBLEM FOR ALL 64 BIT OS USERS!!!! this version is for 32 bit SO you need to edit the setup.reg file (rightclick - edit) and change the line:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Techland\CallOfJuarez]

to

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Techland\CallOfJuarez]

aas the registries for this game need to be within the wow6432 node. :D

How do I go about doing that?

You need to run regedit, the Windows registry editor. You should probably make a backup of the registry using regedit if you're not familiar with it, however. You only want to make the change it describes, not change other stuff.

*edit* You know what, I might just try to download the game myself on Windows 7 64-bit and see if I have an issue. If not, I'll try to look at what the registry has. I think I have it on Steam -- definitely got the second one.

Awesome, I got it working. What I did was opened regedit, found the Techland/Call of Juarez directory, exported, opened that file with Notepad, changed what was inside, saved, ran it to update the registry and now the game works.

This is what I copied:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Techland\CallOfJuarez]
"SerialNumber"="EDITED OUT JUST IN CASE"
"AlreadyRunningCaption"="Information"
"AlreadyRunningText"="Call of Juarez is already running."
"WriteDir"="Call Of Juarez\\"
"DestinationDir"="\\"
"ISGUID"="{3E7940A4-495B-4DC5-B5C9-D2EE1DE9E5EF}"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Techland\CallOfJuarez\Keys]

I think system restore might let you roll back, but in general I'd almost feel safer editing the nodes directly in regedit. Plus regedit lets you back up to a file. *shrug* Congrats on getting it working. :)

*edit* Remove that serial post-haste!

Hopefully this thread is more helpful: Anyone know if there's a common/easy fix to Dead Space 2 going black when changing resolution/v-sync settings?

Even though my DS 2 config shows 1920 * 1080 as the resolution, it's booting up at 1024*768 and completely hangs at 100 percent CPU usage (and monitor goes black) whenever trying to apply a change to the graphics settings.

P.S. Origin is not making a very positive first impression. WTF do I need to enter a Dead Space 2 serial key? Hello? EA title running from EA client? Ah, yeah, how bout you know what my key is? This program is beginning to look like it's worse than I feared.

Everything in that quote I got from a comment elsewhere. According to the person who posted it, the game doesn't actually use the key it just needs to see one there. The comment is a couple of years old so I'm sure it's been used many times already.

By the way, can I get banned from Steam if I'm using cracked files? Or should I launch outside of Steam?

I'm not pirating anything, I just have the cracked files from before when trying to get the game working.

You can get banned from multiplayer, depending on the anti-cheat detection.

I had the same problem and I think I was finally able to set the resolution correctly by doing it in windowed mode first. Also, be aware that DS2 is not auto-updated by Origin. You have to manually download the patch yourself.

Cool. I'll give that a shot.

P.S. Patch? Wasn't aware there even was a patch I needed to download. Smooth.

Ok so I bit on DNF on impulse. They sent me an email that they charged me but ... no code in that email. No code in the "my account" page either. What gives with that?

edit: figured it out. have to install Impulse downloader and get the cd key from there.

Fucking dandy.

So I initially tried changing the windowed mode in the config. But the game doesn't actually read the config, so that was SOL.

I could change it to windowed mode and 1080P in-game, but if I then try and go full screen, it's back to the black screen.

So I went back to windowed and tried applying the patch. Except it's not a traditional patch (that I can tell). It's just an .exe. If I click on it, the one CPU goes back to 100 percent and my monitor goes black.

Not a problem. I'll just swap the patched .exe for the original .exe. WRONG! Can't move those .exe's around. Even to second hard drive. Any attempt at copying them yields a short cut and nothing more.

So I'm out of ideas and SOL. Serves me right. I don't know why I never learn about buying EA games.

I had a weird problem with Dead Space 2 when I got it off of Steam. I started playing it and none of the video or audio logs would play when I picked them up. There was also dialog that was happening during the game that wasn't playing either.

When I checked the file integrity on Steam it downloaded another 2GB it had missed that included everything else. So for the first hour of the game I got almost none of the story stuff outside of the in-game cutscenes.
