Same thing happened to me with Global Agenda. Really wish I never would have bought it anyway.
So we just lose our keys? That makes no sense. I don't know about Global Agenda, but there's a paid version of Champions Online.

I knew something like that was coming.

Yeah, there's a paid option to go elite that people who had bought it were supposed to be upgraded to, but it never upgraded me to my knowledge and their customer support is pathetic.

I like Hydrophobia. Reminds me of Shadow Complex. It looks so nice that you don't expect it to control the way it does though. Kinda reminds me of a PSP Syphon Filter feel.

The water physics are worth the price of admission. Never been done before like this. I have a higher opinion of the rest of the game than most of what I've read here. I say it's not only a buy, but a good buy at $3. Nice sale.

We did pay for the keys, essentially, and there's a record of it, so Steam should at least send those to us if we ask. I say should. I'm gonna try support.

I knew you guys were going to spread this around too much. First, NPD numbers, now Steam registry leaks, is there anything GAF won't ruin? :(

I was able to view mine by logging in to my account for the game.

Oh and they actually updated me to Elite finally. Good on Hi-Rez, I guess.

I thought you automatically got Elite Status if you bought the game before it went F2P. Did I just imagine that?

Nothing's been ruined, IMO. Valve is just playing with us, us getting excited for future games on Steam and buying them is good for Steam.

Information leaks could actually be causing problems with them and larger third party publishers. Like Sonic Generations still has not officially been announced for the PC.

Ok there's definitely something going on with Aus Steam servers, just switched to a US server and my speed went from 20kb/s to 500kb/s

Even if it's the same for CO, I haven't made an account yet. I haven't used the key they gave me. And now I can't view that key.

Free Team Fortress has fucked up the South American servers too, I had to change region to Greece.

I wish Valve would add a scheduler to Steam's downloader ala Greenman gaming. Some of us have download quota's to contend with, and making sure people with limited internet usage are given every opportunity to save on that usage should have been on the list a long time ago.

Yeah, with these cheap games, it's almost always worth it to buy them purely from the perspective of how much time you'll get out of them, but it's a matter of if you'll enjoy that time you spend with the game. Hydrophobia seems like it's just over that threshold for me. It's not the best four or so hours I could spend, but for $3, it's good enough.

I bought Hydrophobia earlier this evening.

Also, apparently TF2 just updated and apparently added "summer crates" which expire July 11, presumably yet another sign of the impending sale.

Yes, GAF, once again you are ignorant. Listen to one guy about Hydrophobia. The game is great after that huge patch they did. For $3 it's a steal, for the full price, I would agree no.

It's $3, try it out, if you don't like it, put the blame on me, but don't just say "I'll pass", because one guy disliked it.

Stallion Free gives consistently fair impressions of things. I bought Hydrophobia but it's certainly no slight against the game to take his opinion into account and to weigh it accordingly.

What if the summer cooler contained cheap free Steam games?

edit: cheap free being games that were discounted to $1-3 for the summer sale but were opened in crates? Theory being game price approx cost of a key to open the crate.

At least you guys don't have to become nocturnal whenever the Steam sales are on (3AM AEST)

Yeah, I really need to shake the habit of staying up until 1AM just to see the next daily deal.

I'm pretty sure there's a free demo of the game floating around for the PC. That way you can try it out and not spend anything on it.

Also, I have found that the "it's only $__ you should get it" isn't a good strategy. "$3 here, $5 there, oh, hey, that game is only $10? Sure why not?" Before you know it you have spent $50 on 15 shitty games you'll never play for more than an hour. Wait for games you actually want to play to be on sale and buy those.

You can't fundamentally change a turd into less than a turd, no matter how many times you patch it. You just can't sugar coat it.

I'd be willing to bet that the majority of people who purchased the game end up not finishing it.

I'm in Aus as well, how do I switch server?

I will let GAF decide if I should get Hydrophobia or not. I will take the first 3 answers, either Yes or No, and buy or not buy accordingly. :)

So GAF, should I buy Hydrophobia?

While I am pleased that you enjoyed the game, there is hardly only one guy giving negative impressions of the game. In my own personal search, I found that impressions of the game were consistently bad...actually, were consistently terrible. And the port job sounds awful (no quick saves, no in game video settings, GUI clearly designed around gamepad and not customized for kb/m, etc.)

One valid point you may have is that I am under the impression the developer has significantly patched it again after releasing it on PC and the first wave of negative reactions, so maybe he fixed a lot of the problems. I haven't seen many people talking about the game post-whatever # fixit job they're on now.

Sure! It looked more interesting than random 2D indie platformers or multiplayer FPS games to me. This answer qualifies as "yes" if you have a decent computer!

I paid $5 for it, so I'm sure I would have paid $3 as well. That said, with the knowledge of the game I now possess, I would pass and put that $3 towards something in the Steam sale, (if it comes to pass.)

Then again, if your wallet is full of Hamiltons and your pantry is full of cereal, why not go for it.

Care to tell us why we should buy it, instead of just making broad generalizations about "GAF"? We listened to one guy because he was the only one who had shared his take on it at that point.

It's swell that it's only $3 but I'm not gonna buy something just because it's cheap.
