You know what? Hydrophobia studio/creator updated the game THREE TIMES, trying to make it worth the players time. He even added a "tell us about the games bugs" interface in the newest "re-release".

That's worth something. 3 dollars your way, developer I know nothing about.

But according to most feedback it's still a pretty terrible game.

I enjoyed it and I'm going to double-dip for that price. But then again I tend to like some games that GAF hates (See Bionic Commando 2009).

Hey, I played Bionic Commando at a friend's house and I loved the game. It was just impossible not to have fun with it once you got the hanging of swinging around and beating people up with the arm. Pretty good stuff. I'm waiting for a sale on that one.

Anyway, I think I'll wait for some more impressions from people who buy Hydrophobia during this sale, and then I'll make up my mind =P Thanks.

At least dude is still trying. He could've abandoned the game after release and started a new project, but he's trying to right his wrongs.

Also, the water physics seem nice.

There are two complete outfits pack. I know they were also separated into individual packs, like SF III characters, Shoto Characters, Alpha characters. That's what they are, most likely.
Well, of course, just thought to let people know they should be up on the PC version soon after release.

Fuck it I'm buying it too. I wanted it on 360 but heard how "bad" it was but since they upgraded it on PC and it's only $3, then why the hell not.

I can't give any impressions though since I had to send the RAM in on my main computer to be replaced :(

I really just wish they released the complete packs as soon as possible. Releasing them one pack each week, like they did on the consoles, is fucking bullshit.

Here's the Super Costume Pack, console release dates:

• May 4: Super Challengers Pack 1 (Hakan, Makoto, Dudley, Guy, Dee Jay)
• May 11: Super Shoryuken Pack (Ryu, Akuma, Ken, Gouken, Dan)
• May 25: Super Beauty Pack (Chun-Li, C. Viper, Sakura, Rose, Cammy)
• June 8: Super Challengers Pack 2 (Juri, Ibuki, Cody, Adon, T. Hawk)
• June 15: Super Brawlers Pack (Zangief, E. Honda, Abel, Rufus, El Fuerte)
• June 22: Super Shadaloo Pack (Vega, Sagat, Balrog, M. Bison, Seth)
• June 29: Super Classic Pack (Guile, Blanka, Dhalsim, Gen, Fei Long)
• July 27: Super Complete Pack (All 35 costumes in one bundle)

That's 8 DLC content. I wonder if the 9th one is the extra Costumes from the original Street Fighter IV? On the consoles, if you bought the SFIV Costume Pack, they would be available on Super. I hope nobody bought them on PC, as it doesn't seem they will be compatible with Super.

There's also the Ultra costume pack. Again, console release dates:

• 10/26/2010 - Hakan, Makoto, Guy, Dudley, DJ
• 11/02/2010 - Ryu, Ken, Akuma, Gouken, Dan
• 11/16/2010 - Chun-Li, C. Viper, Sakura, Rose, Cammy
• 12/07/2010 - Juri, Ibuki, Cody, Adon, T. Hawk
• 12/21/2010 - Zangief, E. Honda, Rufus, Abel, El Fuerte
• 01/11/2011 - M. Bison, Sagat, Balrog, Vega, Seth
• 01/25/2011 - Guile, Blanka, Dhalsim, Fei Long, Gen
• 04/26/2011 - All 35 Alternate Costumes

I wonder if the Ultra Pack is coming at a later date. That sounds about right.

They should just release 3 pieces of DLC: Alternate SFIV Costumes, Super Pack Costumes and Ultra Pack Costumes.

Let it be known that most of GAF bought Hydrophobia to test the boob physics!

In all fairness it is a great selling point

Edit: Video on youtube makes main character look pretty flat

How bad is it that boob physics is becoming a selling point.

Anyway, the dev has indeed done a good job at trying to sell his game. Good effort and devs like that should be supported.

I've heard about Hydrophobia for so fucking long now because of its being reworked that I will buy it just to support the guy for trying because he gives a fuck. $3 is low enough to not feel ripped off if it sucks, I think.

And like I've been telling you guys, I go out of town on Thursday so that's when the sale starts. It'll happen almost as soon as I get to the airport.
Yeah there's a really good chance that I'll be without the internet for the weekend so I'm preparing to get pissed and figure out how I'm going to spend money that would probably be better spent on food.

I'm still strong and haven't bought Hydrophobia.

As for SSF4 costume packs, on the console versions you could import the SF4 costume pack if you already owned it.
IIRC, there were 2 SSF4 packs (Super and Ultra) and one SF4 pack. The SF4 pack obviously didn't have costumes for the Super only characters.
As for AE, they're releasing a new pack for the AE characters, containing 2 costumes per character.
All 3 complete packs and this last one add up to something like 5000 MS points, that's capcom for you.

I hate their pricing, I hate the notion of paying more for costumes than for the game itself but some of them do look reaaallly good. I kind of wish they had included them all in the AE disc version and PC version.

edit: well, drizzle summed it up.

Boob physics or the lack thereof aside, how is the game?
Poorly executed. The controls feel weird, the shooting has little feedback, the story is awful, the voice overs are pretty bad, and the water tech is underused/they don't make the most of it.

Luigi87 said:
Perhaps you played it before they enhanced fixed the game!
I played the Steam release which was the final Xbox update.

Stallion Free said:
Hydrophobia had some neat and interesting ideas, but almost everything was poorly executed in the game (I played the Steam release only). However, the water tech looks incredible at times and when it comes rushing down a hall towards you, it's quite an experience, especially because the effect clearly isn't faked (I won't point any fingers).

I'm not really sure if I would even recommend it at 3$ though.

I hesitate for this.

Actually, isn't it the PSN release? IIRC the latest Xbox release is one version behind ?

Honestly, when I was looking through the reviews and saw some articles about how he was berating people who gave the game low scores, I feel the exact opposite. He came across as someone I don't want to give my money to.

This experience mirrors mine. I can't imagine what it was like prior to the patching.

But despite that he tried fixing the game 3 times or so. I can see him defending his creation out of pride, but he seems to have gotten over that. Otherwise he never would have fixed the game.

so the game sucks balls eh?

$3 is nothing really, but the time wasted in order to play a piece of shit is the deal breaker ...if it really does suck.

This is my issue. There isn't much to lose in paying $3 to add a new game to my library, but when will I ever play it? I'd probably just boot it up once for the bewb physics then never touch it again.

Good enough, $3 saved.

This piece from RPS is what made me decide to not get the game. I don't really care how hard the devs worked to make the game, I just care if the game has any redeeming value (and water physics is not enough of one.) In fact, based on this impression and others, it seems like this is just a shitty port of a shitty game. That's the last kind of dev I want to be supporting.

RPS said:
But the larger problem here is that the game is running like a dog on a PC that breezes through Crysis 2 at the highest settings. I’ll need to fiddle with some of the settings, see if I can get rid of the jerkiness. Except of course I can’t, because this game isn’t optimised for PC. I have to quit the game, guess at changing the settings, restart it, over and over until I can find the issue. OH GOOD.

RPS said:
It’s [the game] horrible. It’s weirdly horrible. The whole game appears to have been designed with a sense of contempt. It hits so many of the most obvious frustrations – random deaths, dodgy jumping, invisible barriers, bad checkpoints, no saves, shoddy combat, crappy interface, and inane story – that it’s hard not to take it personally.

He clearly states the game was so terrible he wasn't willing to play it for more than a few hours. He didn't even get to what apparently is a key gimmick of the game, controlling the water. Weird that that would be more than a few hours into the game.

None of my Steam games will launch. Weird since I played TF2 a few hours ago. Restarting my computer didn't help. WHY STEAM WHY

I beat Hydrophobia and I don't recall any boob physics.

because you are not perverse enough... haaaa ! LOSER !

Like I said, you can barely notice the jiggle ... don't expect Dead or Alive like physics (or any other japanese/anime based game)

I just recently noticed the breast physics of Tomb Raider The Angel of Darkness... that game came out in 2003, they're that good !

western physics > eastern physics (if you like the more realistic approach)

Anyone have any opinion on the Blue Toad Murder Files? $5 for 6 episodes seems reasonable, if it's good.

They're not bad if you enjoy games like Puzzle Agent or Professor Layton. Personally, not my cup of tea, but the Mrs. played through all of them on PS3 and had a good time.

MNC said:
Damn, controlling the water in a good water physics (though bad(?)) game sounds cool :/

Yeah, I must have quit before getting that far, might fire it back up sometime just to see it.
