Try changing your download region to somewhere outside the US.

What's up?
I'm guessing there are different launch/DRM servers for different games. I assume changing your download region has no effect on your particular error. :(

Yeah, I must have quit before getting that far, might fire it back up sometime just to see it.

Somewhere someone asked where the water control comes into play and another guys response was a few minutes before the end. There's apparently some kind of puzzle, then the last boss. Might be hyperbole, but still sounds pretty bad. The water control is also not mentioned in hardly any reviews I've read, so I'm not even 100% sure it's even in the game.

I'm in Australia so yeah I've already done that I guess :p Changing it to other Aus servers doesn't seem to help at all.

There is no hyperbole, that is it. After you beat the game you unlock a challenge room that let's you play with it a little more but it's awkward and not all that fun, just kind of neat conceptually.

My brother gave me his PC and kept all of his Steam games on it. However, I have my own Steam account and I am no longer logged onto his. Is there anyway to play the games and not have to constantly switch accounts?

Logging in and out is probably easier than any other solution you can come with.

Maybe the patched Xbox release plays better than the PC port? I had no problems with the controls, or cheap deaths. I thought the game was worth the $5 I paid for it there. It doesn't hurt that I love water effects in video games (like swinging mechanics). It's not a Good/Great game, but I enjoyed it for the money. My complaints with the (XBLA) game were as follows:

1) Terrible VA
2) Ho-hum story
3) Kind of short
4) Ends abruptly and sets up for sequel

But I found the water effects compelling and the gameplay sufficiently engaging. I probably wouldn't have finished it otherwise. I'll try out the PC version tonight and see if they've really botched it.

Well there's a problem.... I don't even know his password.

God, so many games I've been wanting to play for awhile. Aquaria, Back to the Future, CivCity, Half-Life, Railroad Tycoon 2, Puzzle Agent, Super Meat Boy, Sid Meier's Pirates... ARG. And they're right there, downloaded on my computer already. So close yet so far.

So call him up and ask for his password?

The Steam platform has completely changed my perceptions about gaming on the PC. I'm now more excited about playing games I haven't heard of simply by browsing my Friends' wishlists and recommendations - or just by seeing what everyone else is playing my list. That unified system brings a social experience that arguably goes beyond what console offers when you take into consideration the additional functionality of PC games in contrast.

The only thing I'd like is the ability to voice chat with individuals on my Friend list as a group rather than using another piece of software.

I'm a little disappointed there aren't more games available on the Mac, at least strategy ones.

You both can't log into it at the same time.

Also having the steam games on the computer isn't the same thing as "having them"

i sometimes enjoy browsing my friends screen captures.

sometimes doing that will get me interested in certain games that i wasn't really aware of, or all that interested in previously.

the screen cap feature is good stuff!

Having same issue with New Vegas. I'm validating my local files at the moment, having already tried deleting clientregistry.blob (and switching download servers and offline mode).

You can do group voice chats on Steam. Just have everyone be in the same chat, then do the start voice chat button. It does a ringing sound, I remember. My friends and I don't use it since when we used to try it was always very finnicky, but I know they've updated it since then so it might be better now.

Validating the files didn't either.

Mine now says "Download starting..." but no download is actually starting.

EDIT: I see in some articles from a week or so back there's mentions of an upcoming patch, maybe it's being patched now?

Yea, I tried all those also

Oh well... guess there's always tomorrow to play NV.

Mine is stuck on "Starting Download" but it doesn't seem to be updating anything...

Stuff from RPS

-But the larger problem here is that the game is running like a dog on a PC that breezes through Crysis 2 at the highest settings.

-bad checkpoints, no saves

My calculator can breeze trough Crysis 2... and the game is saving after every little thing you do...

Fuck Reviews. They all suck.

Your calculator cannot run Crysis 2, ergo you are a liar, ergo your views on this game cannot be trusted!

I also wouldn't trust someone who's trying to impress me with a computer that can breeze through Crysis 2 (DX9 Version). OMG I CAN BREEZE THROUGH A CONSOLE PORT FUCK YEAH

I'm pretty sure there's a group voice chat

I've been using the Steam voice chat a lot lately with a few friends, it's not as good as a third party app like mumble but it's easy to use and the quality is fine.

I don't think he was trying to impress anyone. He was merely giving a comparison that a pretty good looking game (Crysis 2) is able to run well whereas a graphically mediocre game (Hydrophobia) runs poorly. If you have a badass computer that can run every game at 120 FPS without breaking a sweat then hooray for you, the part where the reviewer talks about performance does not apply to you and you can disregard it.

For everyone that DOESN'T have a computer like yours, we can look at this review and if we've played Crysis 2 we are able to compare how our computer is able to run the game and estimate how Hydrophobia will run for us.

Well, it wasn't a review, it was just a guy writing about what he thought about a game.

And I don't think he was using Crysis 2 as a comparison to impress his readers. All of his readers are PC gamers (RockPaperShotgun is a PC gaming blog), and thus would not be impressed. He's just using it as a point of comparison to let people know he's not playing the game on a macbook or something. I agree it's a weird game to use, I imagine it's just the last game or a recent game he played on the machine when writing up this impression and so used it.

Actually, this is an even better reason, using Crysis 2 is an easy point of comparison for his readers since it was a moderately well received PC game a lot of people probably played.

It's relevant when the game he is comparing it to is also a console port.

I bought Champions Online before it went F2P, but now it just shows up in my library as 'Champions Online: Free For All' and I can't find the key.

Same thing happened to me with Global Agenda. Really wish I never would have bought it anyway.
