Really, I could probably afford games at $5-10. Big money, big money, etc. I waste way more money on food. Trying to get Steam games cheap and on sale is a silly metagame in a way. You collect, you go for the low prices, and you rarely play the games.Stallion Free said:3$ is ridiculously cheap so I can understand why it was hard to say no for some people.

I guess it's expected that someone would try to convince me to get one or more of those games.catapult37 said:You make good points, but at some point I stopped reading and started mentally tallying all the ways I'd try to convince you of the awesomeness of Batman Arkham Asylum.

And does anyone else get the clever joke in Frontlines Fuel of War TM's title? "Fuel of War" => "Fuel" => oil, and the game is about oil, which is fueling war, in that people are fighting over oil! It probably also has some subtle commentary about contemporary military isues.

That's perfectly complete.French said:Do we know if Crysis will be back on Steam one day ?
I'm tempted to buy the first one and Warhead but it would feel "incomplete" if I can't buy the second one.

...The sale is gonna start July 4th. Mark it.

EDIT: It's steamworks anyway isn't it? Can't you buy it off Origin and put it on Steam?
Sucks, wish I'd have bought it when it was on there now.InertiaXr said:No EA game is ever Steamworks. Especially now that they have Origin.

Homefront's MP gets way more hate than it deserves.coopolon said:Just a heads up, a lot of people have experienced problems with this game when using a dual core on Windows 7. You get insanely low FPS no matter what settings/resolution you use.
This was actually the game that convinced me Kaos Studios was a terrible developer that didn't deserve any support, which I'm happy about considering how Homefront turned out.

It's been hinted, very strongly, that there will be a Summer Sale. Through indie games getting special summer-based achievements and that Cooler/Chest drop in TF2.Flying_Phoenix said:I always thought it was obvious that there isn't going to be a summer sale due to daily deals? The whole point of the summer sale was to regive some of the overlooked or wanted but too high titles an extra oomph outside of the holiday season.

Well, I can only hope EA has a Summer Sale to compete with Steam.
1-D_FTW said:Except it's happening tomorrow.
Um...okay? I really don't see how creating another account is inherently bad. Sure it's annoying, but that shouldn't stop you from playing games. Hell, if you buy retail, you don't need an Origin account (maybe for BF3, I guess).Zeitgeister said:EA should learn to play by the rules of the market, not its rules to be forced on the market.
As much as I may dislike Activision's pricing scheme for DD and some other aspects of the company, at least Activision lets me play my games when and where I want, without some stupid account shit forced on me. And in years to come, I will still be able to download steamworks titles which happens to be published by Activision.
Try doing that on the EA store.

No. Even from my limited experience, no games found in the daily deals match the kind of offerings you get on a special sale like the summer or christmas ones.Flying_Phoenix said:I always thought it was obvious that there isn't going to be a summer sale due to daily deals? Running a content distribution network at the scale of Steam is actually quite a large task and some of the options that seem easy to end users are quite complicated in reality. There are a lot of considerations and issues that are non obvious.
However, the good news is that we are actually working on a pretty big update to our content distribution system. The new system will improve download speeds for many locations, make it easier for us to scale up quickly to peak demand, and improve compatibility with various restricted network environments. It's going to take time to roll out across our network and to get to the point where all games are using it, but once that happens the new system will also make it easier for us to build some of the features for improved control and inspection of downloads that user's have been asking for.
So, long story short, we are working on this. We'll be discussing more about the planned improvements to the content system soon.
