Why do you guys put money in the wallet? I just have my card saved and it makes impulsing buying in the sales so much easier!

Oh, that's exactly why you have money in your wallets. >_>

Some of them are doing it for impulse buying purposes, others because Steam sometimes gets goofy with credit cards / credit card companies sometimes get goofy with lots of rapid small purchases.

Personally the only time Steam's CC stuff has been weird for me was December 31st, 2008, and it worked fine on January 1st 2009 so I still caught the sale I wanted.

For as long as this continues, it'll be one of the reasons why Origin will never be better than Steam.

isn't PC gaming bigger in Europe? compared to America? either way it seems silly not to have deals in other regions.

Credit/Debit Cards can screw up from time to time, especially if your a late buyer or Steam has set a very cheap wrong price deal on a a game and you need to buy asap before they fix the price.

Prevents fraud protection kicking in if you make too many small purchases.

Prevents transaction errors if the servers are getting hammered.

And let's be honest with ourselves, we're only temporary custodians of this money anyways. Valve is the true owner. Mine as well let them earn some interest in the interim;)

what games are you guys looking forward to during the sale? To be honest I can't think of anything :0

Gabe will show us what games we were looking forward. He knows better than us.

No joke reply: AC Brotherhood, Crysis 2 (hehehehehe), Alice, Bloodlines (hohohohohoho), Dawn of War Retribution and Frozen Synapse...

Long-shot: Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines

More realistic:
Cities in Motion + DLC (on Kab's advice, skipped it at the full $19.99)
Dead Space 2 (seen retail PC at $20, looking to pay ~10-12)
Oddworld Abe's Odyssey/Exodus (looking to pay $2 combined or less)
Max and the Magic Marker (looking for $5 or less, I know I missed an indie pack where it was $1)
Civ IV ($4.99 or less)
Ancients of Ooga ($2.49 or less)
Jamestown ($4.99 or less)
Dinner Date ($1.50 or less)
You Don't Know Jack ($5 or less)
Back to the Future ($12.50 or less)
Hamilton's Great Adventure ($5 or less)
Call of Cthulhu ($2.49 or less)
Inside a Star-Filled Sky ($3.99 or less)

Ah I've never had that issue.

My bank is a complete twat when it comes to fraud protection etc, but I've never had them shut down my card thanks to Steam. And I've gone crazy during some of the earlier sales when I had much less games!

Yea, thanks to the kind advice after I asked, I immediately added funds. I intend to add another 20-30 tomorrow in hope of the sale or for future buys. It is mainly for future buys but I would also like to pre-order Trackmania 2.

It's not like the sale is limited to a certain quantity correct? During the summer sale, the daily deal will last throughout the whole day, and the general summer sale will last throughout the week?

I hope some adventure games go on sale. It would be great if Still life set and Syberia set were cheap. Same thing for other odd games. Indie games like capsized and stuff i also like to grab during these sales.

Bolded what i want, already own DS2, Hamilton and Jamestown

Paid 25 for DS2 during the week sale not long ago, only to find out that id best enjoy it after my pc upgrade, oh well.

I really dont expect it to hit anything less than 20 though, i mean its EA, and its after-Origin EA.

Hopefully i'll control myself and be able to hook you up with something Stump, didnt forget about Singularity!

man, I haven't played that game since it first came out back in the day. Haven't played it with any of the un-official patches or anything. I'd be all over that game if it went on sale...

I would double dip on BttF for around 10. Already bought the full season on PSN. Call of Cthulu, have that on XB but would so buy it on PC/Steam for that price.

Anything retail based or actually good in the 5-10 range would be almost instant buys for me.

I see Front Lines Fuel of War is on sale right now for $5.00. Anyone know if it supports the 360 controller? I did a google search and could not get a difinitive answer.

This is true the vast majority of time but they have run out of cd keys a few times and replaced one game on sale with another.

The only game I really want is portal 2 for less than 20.

Might buy the two recent drakensang games if they go on sale.

Edit: Dragon Age 2 for under $20 would also probably be a buy for me. Although now that they're finally getting around to DLC maybe I should wait for the GOTY. Also NV DLC.

It did when I played it a while back at a friends. Don't know if he had a custom ini or something going on though.

I enjoyed it on 360 but knowing it's been cheaper before (on sale) would make me hold off. And I am as I'm not desperate for that. Enjoying the hell out of JC2.

Typically yes.

There have been a few exceptions; the 1C complete back, The Witcher 1, and a few other titles have been mispriced temporarily and been on sale for an hour or two before being pulled or returned to a more sensible valuation. But generally, yes. Daily sales + Week-long sales.

The other thing worth noting is that Daily Deals are also on sale other days. Like, if it's 75% off Dragon Age II as a daily deal, for the rest of the sale DAII might be 25-50% off. So in general it's seen as a bad move around these parts to buy at regular sale prices just in case the item subsequent appears as a daily deal. Imagine buying a game for $30 and then it's on the next day for $20 as a daily deal.

Yeah, it works with a 360 pad. I can't remember if there is rumble or the appropriate button prompts though.

So the sale is looking likely? Well, I guess this is good news

Only thing I really want is the total war pack, and hopefully TF2 keys to go on sale for 99 cents. Civ V and FONV dlc on sale would also be great/

Couple other games I would like to own but probably wont buy if they aren't $5 or under.

I'm 90% sure it does but I remember it being awful. I like traditional controls for a console game and this had a completely weird configuration that couldn't be changed as far as I remember. Everything was on a different button and I'm pretty sure the aim button was clicking the right stick instead of the trigger. It made it not fun to play, and the actual game wasn't that decent either.

Is worth far more than the 10 dollars it is currently at!

Also the voice acting in Hydrophobia is worth 3 dollars alone. It's fucking hilarious. The main character shifts in and out of various accents so frequently.

Controls still need work, but are manageable. The water is really nice.

That would be the right price for me considering the "perceived" value of TLR. I would also double dip on the Guardian of Light even though I have the PSN version (which I just beat last night - so good).

A tentative list for me....

DS2 - 10.99
BttF - 12
Fallout 3 - 7
Test Drive Unlimited - 5
Burnout Paradise - 3 (is this even on Steam?)
Terraria - 4
AC Brotherhood - 13
CoD complete pack - 15
OH YES SUPER MEAT BOY - 5, like an idiot I passed this up when it was last 5. I would totally buy it asap for that price.

Too many to list and unreasonable low priced :p

Thanks for the reply and for others that replied. I figured for $5.00 it was good, but who knows with the sale and other sales it might be cheaper and to be honest, I have a shit load of other games to play as well.

Thanks again for the response guys.

This upcoming sale will be my first Steam Sale...looking forward to it..I just hope I don't go too crazy! lol

My wish list, excluding pre-orders, looks like:

The Witcher: Enhanced Edition
The Witcher 2
Two Worlds 2
Vampire: The Masquerade
The Longest Journey
The Longest Journey 2
AlternativA
Syberia
Syberia 2
Prince of Persia (08)
Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands
Still Life
Still Life 2
Lost Horizon
Hamilton's Great Adventure
Alice: Madness Returns
Terraria
Fable III
Super Meat Boy
Divinity II (Yes, I know, daily deal the other day but still too much for what I have atm - shoved it on there to remind myself it looked decent)

If I can pick up a handful of those for dirt cheap, and a few others with a decent discount, I'll be happy.

Witcher and Witcher 2 are the ones I'll buy regardless o the discount. I need to play them.

Here's my wishlist, in case you guys want a good idea of what to gift me:

http://steamcommunity.com/id/Snuggler/wishlist

most wanted:

Two Worlds 2 - For the pretty graphics and exploration. The game sounds so-so but at $20 or less I'm down.

Dead Space 2 - I liked the first, but I've been waiting for the sequel to drop - $15 or so would be just right

Call of Duty 4 - I've been wanting to get it for PC, but I'm not paying $30 dollars dammit

Sega Bass Fishing - This was a sweet game back in the day, but it's gotta be super cheap before I go for it

Neverwinter Nights 2 - Obsidian are cool and I haven't played this one yet, so I'll definitely purchase it if it goes on sale

- Terraria
- Fallout New Vegas (Got a problem with my credit card when it was on sale in D2D =( )
- Last Remmant

You guys who want Last Remnant know it can register on steam right? At least it's on the retail games page on Steam. I don't know how rare it is but if it's not rare then it should be pretty cheap on retail by now.

My wishlist is short:

Morrowind: Goty
Deus Ex: Goty

Preorder the new deus ex on steam (like you should have by now!!!) and you get deus ex goty for free :p

My list:

Unreal Deal Pack
Gothic Complete Pack
The Witcher
Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War 1 and 2 Complete
Torchlight
Magicka Complete
Hitman Collection

I'm sure there will be a ton of other smaller indie games that will interest me during the sale.
