Sure. But 999 times out of 1000 you will lose the money you paid to buy the ticket. Steam didn't cost you anything.

I know. I'm just pointing out that the odds are really terrible. And that you really shouldn't do achievements unless you're enjoying them, because otherwise you'd be better served by just dropping a dollar at the gas station and saving yourself the hassle.

GAF, help me. I'm OCD about my Steam list. I don't want games in it that I don't have any interest in. I never buy indie packs, I only buy the games I really want, even if they're more expensive.

I want Cthulhu but not that other thing (Breath of whatever). Now what? Will they be released separately?

Nope, just the combo pack. That being said Breath of Death VII is really really good, along the same lines as CSTW. Its not as polished being Zeboyd's first game, but definitely worth a playthrough. Just buy it :)

Also, holy shit. Cthulu Saves The World is in the Top Sellers section on Steam. Given that that list is based on not amount sold but revenue? God damn.

Not as far we know but you can ask the developer yourself, he's been posting on this thread.

Cthulhu looks like a natural progression of Breath of Death though, so it seems natural that most would have interest in both.

The art is what is keeping me away from Dungeons of Dredmor.

Considering the art of most roguelikes looks similar to this: @ and d

I'd say it's a step up.

stealth edit: Don't let art keep you away from a potentially good game.

couldn't you just make a category that says "games will never play" or somethin and then just hide it?

I was wondering about that, because AC2 was already.
Ubisoft is a bit staggered with their Mac ports, but it's phenomenal that a huge publisher like that is actually hopping on board with the Steam Play for their triple-A titles when another company (you know who) run by assholes continues to ignore it despite having tons of Mac ports.

Certainly, I didn't mean it to read as negative, Ubi seem to provide better PC support than any of the major publishers, something that absolutely should be applauded.

amdnv said:
Alright, well I guess I'll buy the pack then. Thanks.

Why don't you just put all the games you don't want/like under a category separate from the rest and then minimize it. You never have to look at any of them again.

AssBro is now Steamplay. Pretty cool.
Great news. I personally only have Windows systems at the moment but it's great to see more support from publishers on this area. Hopefully others follow.

I may have to test that, because the version of AC2 I bought from their store didn't even work, and I can't figure out how to download it again.

So did no one on GAF win in the drawing? :( Some people here had practically done all the summer challenges.

So the winners have been notified? I didn't really care that much, it was just a fun meta-game. I was just curious if anyone had already indicated that they recieved notification.

If you bought it from the Ubi store, you can't download it again. You needed to pay "insurance" to redownload from Ubi. Ubi is pretty shitty on the PC front, with some lame ass DRM implementation and a terrible digital storefront. They've improved on their DRM though.

Bought the Cthulu pack and Dungeons of Dredmor, I knew the first game (and wanted to play it), and I've always wanted to try a roguelike. This one seems perfect to start.

Stop buying games Valygar! Wait until Black Friday!

It's not in your library anymore? When you search for it does it come up "You own this game, click here to install"? If not you should probably email Steam support.

EDIT: Sorry, missed 'their' store part.

I do not avoid women, GAF, but I do deny them my essence.
SupCom 2 is a lot more fun than I thought it'd be. It is watered down when compared to the first... like, REALLY watered down, but its also tighter.

I miss being able to pull off the insane strategies that the first enabled, but the tightened gameplay and shortened games almost make up for it.

What the hell happened to Indigo Prophecy and Manhunt 2? I can only find the first on amazon now and the second I can't find anywhere.

I already have Indigo Prophecy on steam but what about everyone else? Wtf is this shit.

I don't think anyone else wants the game anymore anyways, but Atari lost the rights to sell it most likely.

Anyone who bought it has the game forever on Steam though. You can't remove that stain on your library.

Read something recently about manhunt 2 no longer being sold online. Not sure where, seemed like the link went to Rock Paper Shotgun

http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/07/11/manhunt-2-pc-no-longer-available-anywhere/

Double-edit Svegis posted it during my edit.

RPS actually had a story about Manhunt 2 here but I'm gonna guess it's the Adult Only rating that both(from what I remember) have received. As for Steam? Same thing as Prey, and the other titles that have been there, if you owned it, you own it still, but other people can't find it or buy it there.

edit: Beaten twice, but eh, c'est la vie. Stallions guess about rights is probably spot on as well.

Yeah Direct2Drive changed hands and they went NO AO CONTENT and removed manhunt 2.

D2D was the only place to sell the PC version (which was uncensored) so now it's not available anywhere unless you pirate it.

I never got around to playing it that much, but I liked what little I did play. I wouldn't say it's a stain, the company makes good games.

Same. It looks so... weird. Why the hell is the player 2 tiles high?

Unlike the tiled roguelikes the player/mob IS the tile this is a bit different where the ground is tiled but the mob/player is icons.

Yeah, for what it's worth, I enjoyed what I saw of Indigo Prophecy, but I remember stopping somewhere around (slight spoiler?)
his work
after I got stuck on the QTE events. Not a big fan of those, and they were pretty nasty in Indigo Prophecy.

Considering the other releases of note were Cthulhu and BODVII, it just seems so odd to me that people are knocking the graphics of anything, let alone Dredmor. It looks as though today's releases show 'gameplay trumps graphics.'

There's nothing demanding or hardcore about setting autopilot for a gate and then watching your distance countdown. I start out 78km away and my ship goes 107m/s with nothing to speed that up that's at every gate. My other ship goes 2.5x as fast as this piece of shit jalopy they gave me and has a temporal distortion thingy that speeds up time to 6x normal. You can warp to zero in EVE and this journey would take 5 minutes. They could have given me a ship that made the journey reasonable but they didn't. It's a boring mission and I don't know what they were thinking.

Edit: I started my four gate trip with an 1 and ten minute time left to do the mission and I made it with 8 minutes to spare that was in order to earn 1300 credits which is the nearly same amount they give you for free when you start a game. I shit you not.
You can bump that up to 10x in the game options, btw. And yeah, slow, slow, slowwwwwwwwwwwww, game.
ToyD said:
My thing right now in X3, and I do enjoy it, is that I've got how to fly my ship down from the tutorial. Got it. The tutorial covered that for me. But how in the hell do I buy and sell and equipment and find things to make my ship better? So far it hasn't broached that at ALL. I apparently have 4 shield modules in my cargo, but they aren't equipped? How the hell.
Shield modules at least are equipped just by having them in your cargo hold; the game uses the best ones up to your ship's capacity. This site's good for finding out where to buy stuff.

Has this been announced yet?
I was at 74/76 but honestly, it wouldn't make that much of a difference, I did it mostly because I kind of like that stuff not to magically increase my odds of winning.

If you're a Cthulhu Fan but hate JRPGs, is the game worth considering? Of course it sounds like a no-brainer for that price, but then again, if I just never play it, well :(

I really want to know about this too. Looks good.

IL-2's graphics will leave you wanting if you've played Ace Combat or even the latest IL2 game in the series. It's still a pretty solid game with settings that adjust all the way from arcade to simulation. It would be best enjoyed with a joystick, I don't know if it supports the 360 controller like the latest IL2 entry (Cliffs of Dover -- not sure if that's the newest one or not, I'm forgetting the subtitle for the latest one, it was on the Summer sale too I think).

There are some things in these games that lessen the tediousness that some people associate with retro JRPGs.

Each map area has a certain amount of random battles, after you've fought that amount you are free to wander around without worry.

The battles themselves are much quicker as well. There's a combo counter that builds up until you use a combo breaking move and your HP refills after each battle so you can go all out on offense pretty much. With the point to basically kill the enemy in as few turns as possible (they get stronger each turn).

It plays very much like a classic Dragon Quest game, if you aren't into those then you probably won't like this.

BoDVII and CStW don't have their wonderful pixel graphics ruined and smeared by a poor graphics filter, for starters.

CstW double pack bought!

I'm not really a fan of the genre but I like what I played of the BoD7 demo on the 360.

I've been playing Garshasp and I don't think it's half bad. Gameplay is a little janky, but it works and some of the environments are actually pretty well done. But my goodness, Garshasp's face.

Wow, I had over 50 and I thought that was pretty good. What were the two you missed?
Homefront and Altitude. Homefront because it was too expensive, Altitude because it came up on the last day and I was kind of sobering up on buying $5 games I wasn't too sure of.

I just bought it. It seems like a good game, I just tried it out with my joystick and it seems like joystick is the way to go. The menus are a little rough, and it will take some time to get use to the controls and overall feel of the game.

Overall a good game and to me it seems worth the 5 bucks.

Bonus- it has a Finnish campaign (being from Finland, its always nice to see them in games)

You can turn off the filter with a checkbox on the launcher

Grabbed Dredmor as it is a high quality Roguelike(I would know given my rants on here) full of whimsy, violence, and delicious cheese----first non-sale game I've bought off Steam in a loooong time. That is was only $5, well, that helped things along pretty nicely.

Now to be broke until A Valley Without Wind comes up for beta pre-order...

I have played Dredmor for around ten minutes and already found no less than five varieties of cheese :) Then I opened a chest of evil and was crushed by a genie. Good times!

edit: A Valley Without Wind seems really cool! Definitely going to pay attention to it

In addition to being unable to move diagonally in Dungeons of Dredmor, it looks like the steam overlay crashes the game when in fullscreen if shift-tabbed.

Found this thread at Quarter to Three forums while looking for some answers about my inability to move diagonally. I guess I need to accept it as a design decision. It makes it harder to plan attacks on multiple targets. Speaking of which, the game will lay a beatdown upon you if you're careless, even on level 1.

The crafting system in the game is pretty snazzy. I loves me some crafting.

Are these Dungeons of Dredmor system requirements for real? A Core 2 Duo for a sprite-based roguelike? Anyone try this on a weaker system?
All that cheese requires many lactose digesting cycles
