I'm a little disappointed that there are only seven achievements for Dungeons of Dredmor, that seems like the type of game that's just ripe for a lot of insane (and fun) achievements.

I just bought it. It seems like a good game, I just tried it out with my joystick and it seems like joystick is the way to go. The menus are a little rough, and it will take some time to get use to the controls and overall feel of the game.

Overall a good game and to me it seems worth the 5 bucks.

Bonus- it has a Finnish campaign (being from Finland, its always nice to see them in games)

Might grab it then.

What is the online like?

This shit right here is just silly.

I got SS rank for stage four on A.R.E.S. Since I had practiced a lot on the fourth boss trying to get the achievement for beating it without taking damage, I was already pretty confident for that battle so it was just a matted of lucking out on its attacks after a (relatively easy) speed run through the stage. That seemed like the hardest one besides the final boss so I'm glad I got it out of the way. Two down, three to go.

Edit: Well I got Overall S Rank (and its achievement) for having two SS ranks and three A ranks so I'm starting to think (or hope?) that I won't need to SS all five stages for Overall SS Rank. Because I'm somehow thinking that doing the final boss with a perfect might be a madman's request.

How can they register a trademark on the number 40,000?
I guess it means "Warhammer" and "Warhammer 40,000" are both registered. Retribution has TM for 40,000 while the 2 previous Dow II entries have an R.

This looks insanely stupid on the detail and list views. Out of the ~250 items on my lists, these are the only 3 instances of that happening.

Anybody know if the 100 lucky winners have already been chosen?

Steam never says anything about the winners from their raffles. Last year Halloween promotion was the same...

To get an overall SS rank you need 4 SS ranks and 1 S rank.

So you don't have to perfect the level 5 boss. Which would indeed be damn near if not completely impossible, considering you'd also have to fulfill the regular level requirements each time.

Let me show you through these halls, my friend, where treasures of indie gaming await...

I've never played roguelikes.

I really like dungeon crawlers though. Any chance I might enjoy Dredmor?

Yeah, I just played 2-3 hours straight just to see what kind of loot and difference in skills it has to offer.

Its kind of amazing how different this game plays depending on which skill sets you chose. If you play as a vampire you cant rely on normal food at all and need to rely on skills to suck life out of enemies, but therefore you get a small amount of life back with each hit.

Its pretty varied. Also it even has an item crafting, alchemy, trap ... system. Really well thought out.

Due to all of this it might actually deserve an OT. Maybe I'll make one tomorrow if no one else does until then.

That's good to know. I'm currently attempting stage three. I got the perfect achievement for that boss after only a couple of attempts but the bosses in the game don't have really good patterns for this type of extra achievement. They're doable, but there's definitely a small amount of luck involved due to lack of boss polish.

Since a few people were just talking about it;

TM means "We are claiming the rights to the mark" or "We have submitted a trademark application"

(R) means "We have been granted a federal registered trademark"

They have registered trademarks for:
Warhammer
Warhammer 40,000
Dawn of War (or possibly Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War)

They are claiming use of the mark, although do not have a registered trademark for:
Retribution

(still fucking dumb, naturally)

how do you guys hide games?
The CSS and TF2 Beta makes my library look ugly with their icons :/
Put them in a different folder than everything else. I agree though, I don't want them on my list either.

EDIT: That's probably not too clear. Right click on them, choose 'Set Category', and make one for the games you don't want to see.

Finally got home to play Dungeons of Dredmor and it is, indeed, an amazing roguelike RPG.

The game is oozing charm, of which those wonky looking graphics are part of. Do not be fooled, this game looks great, the soundtrack is amazing, and is just filled with stats and items and treasures and death.

Truly a diamond in the rough, get this.

Cthulhu Saves the World is pretty awesome. Also quite difficult on insane. Kinda surprised (and pleased) it is the top selling game on Steam right now.

Picked up DXHR for 30$

http://www.greenmangaming.com/games/rpgs/deus-ex-human-revolution/

use code: FACEB-JULY2-20PEC

amazing deal, especially here in Australia where Steam wants 60$ :/

Do you mean 36.99? When I hit that link, it's 36.99 (Pre-order discount + 20 percent off). Are you saying that code takes it down even further? I don't feel like going through the registration process to see if the code entry takes it down more.

Yes the code takes it down even further.

So they're 100 percent reputable? And do they charge you right away or wait till it ships? For that price, I'm very tempted.

Yes they are fine, I've used them a few times before and they often do awesome deals like this.

They charge you right away (well they did for me) but you don't get the key until the game releases.

Gonna have to think about this. I don't really need to be paying that much for a new game when I have such a backlog. But Deus Ex on day one? For 29.60? Hmm.

Is there a way to get this to work in Grid View as well?

Just keep the game you don't want seen uninstalled then make it so Steam only shows installed games

How long until that code expires?
From the facebook page
Throughout July, we will be publishing exclusive discount codes to give you 20% off your next purchase at Green Man Gaming. Here’s the second which will last until the 18th: FACEB-JULY2-20PEC.

I can vouch for Greenman, too. Cool site, but they are still very new.

If you buy from Greenman, you don't get the code until release date, correct? So no preload? Not a big issue if so, but still curious.

+1, they have a very good referal program aswell where you and the person you refer get $5 credit if they spend $5 minimum.

Correct, so if it's a Steam game like Dues Ex 3, you won't get a code till it releases.

You can either download from them or imput the key on Steam. Downloading from them acts as if you have bought the DVD and it will install to Steam.

GAF, my good friend Dan needs your help.

He can't play HL2 because of motion sickness, I was around his the other day and we were trying to fix it for about an hour, I'm fine with the smaller FoV personally, but he's not. We tried a few different things, but nothing seemed to work, and here is the big problem, his command console on Source games is fucked, it typically won't even let you enter anything, it'll just close every time you try to type something, then when it did let you enter something, none of the FoV changing commands we could find did anything. We tried entering it as a start up command thing in Steam, and making a config file, still no luck.

Any advice? He's never played HL2, it's practically an emergency.

In case nobody mentioned it, Cthulhu Saves the World and Breath of Death VII are available in a two-pack that released today for $2.69. BUY IT, PEOPLE!!!

I'm fairly sure there is a FOV slider in the advanced video section.

Yep

You know, if that's true it'll be pretty funny, because as we were trying to fix it his flatmate came in and said that TF2 has that, and we didn't think to check.

EDIT: It's there, awesome, thanks.
EDIT2: Thanks for posting the pic too, I missed it before I checked.

Thanks for the answer, I think I may bite on that if I don't win my wishlist.
