Imagine the following setup:

1) You PM <an account> (which would be automated/robot-driven) a list of codes, say in the following format:
Binding of Isaac -- ABCD-EFGH-IJKL
Bad Rats -- ABCD-EFGH-IJKM
Skyrim -- CCCC-DDDD-EEEE

2) You get back a pre-formatted post--or maybe the robot makes the post for you in a thread:
I am giving away some games. To claim the games (one maximum per person), send a PM to <that account> with the code for the game you want:
Binding of Isaac -- 949f10f9e4a42aada8
Bad Rats -- 8bcbce570a531d
Skyrim -- b33e16e512772

3) I'm reading the thread and I see the giveaway. I click the link to send the PM to the account and copy in the code I want. If I ignore the rules and greedily send 3 PMs, I am disqualified from getting anything. If I don't ignore the rules, I get a PM back within 2-3 minutes with my Steam Key, the reply is handled by the robot.

4) The person who gives the stuff away optionally gets a "receipt" PM with the list of people who claimed each game, so you could specifically request that people send you a thank you for follow up on it.

Bonus: It'd be pretty easy to put in certain rules, like being able to:
- block users who have a 0 postcount (or say sub-25 posts--a token block just to prevent true hucksters)
- block users who have been awarded a giveaway in the last few weeks to prevent serial key-stealers
- block specific users
- require that the person has posted in the thread in the last week (or something like that)

So maybe your initial PM would be:
Binding of Isaac -- ABCD-EFGH-IJKL
Bad Rats -- ABCD-EFGH-IJKM
Skyrim -- CCCC-DDDD-EEEE
RECEIPT
NOLURKERS
NOGREEDY

... and the format stuff would be more flexible (you could have a different delimiter or just mystery keys or whatever), you could also have anonymous mystery games to maximize the Secret of the Magic Crystals giveaway, you could be an anonymous benefactor and have the robot take the credit for the games. It'd be pretty easy to make a robust system.

I think this is an awesome idea. However, what about games you want to give away for which you don't have keys, just gift items on Steam?

JaseC

gave away the keys to the kingdom.
Leviathan Warships 75% off for 2.50 @ GMG

+ some 10% voucher.

Is the game even good? I only remember the trailer.

Bugger, I missed this.

Is GameFly's 20% discount code single-use or can it be applied to multiple orders? I'm about to purchase Bad Bots, but if the former is the case I'll use it on Expeditions instead.

I imagine those would continue to be given away in this thread or the trading thread as Steam gifts are uncommon. The vast majority of the time, people are giving away keys, not inventory items.

Edit: Or not. :p

Someone would need to write a Steam Bot, which I think is fairly easy but is not something I know anything about.

Make another bot which accepts Steam gifts and gives a hashnumber in exchange for it. When someone tells the bot to give hashnumber, the bot sends the steam gift.

This way, if I want to redeem Half-Life 3 as a Steam gift, I first contact Stumpokapow's bot:
Wok: give half-life 3
keyBot: half-life 3 is a steam gift, no Steam key available, please redeem 949f10f9e4a42aada8 on giftBot
Wok: give 949f10f9e4a42aada8
giftBot: steam gift sent to you

http://eightarc.com/qanba-q1 is what I'm thinking about getting. It's a bit more, but has better hardware, and looks like it'll last more than a month.

9 hours in: Skullgirls is amazing, despite my terribleness at it. Really hope the new Guilty Gear game comes to PC though :[.

are you able to order stuff from there, or are you going to find it somewhere locally?

im able to order with free shipping. bless amazon

other options:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004M25NNQ/?tag=neogaf0e-20

$48.47

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0057WDBHA/?tag=neogaf0e-20

$65.75

but idk, I might be going overboard at that point for what I want out of it. Not sure if the difference between those is worth the money either. I can always "upgrade" if im truly feeling like getting deeper into sticks

ordering bigger, heavier stuff also gets me a bit worried about taxes in customs

I was thinking something like this too, in addition you could also have a hidden tag (like the nolurk, nogreedy) that way it doesn't show up in the main thread (if that ends up being a thing), so you can do private giveaways and just share the hashnumber with people.

The cheap Madcatz is a good one, but you'd have to be willing to upgrade the parts down the line. I am currently using the first Madcatz SE with new Sanwa buttons/joystick and it's been a dream.

I don't find MK9 very enjoyable to play on arcade sticks (atleast, standard style ones), it feels like a game made for controllers. Everything else though, yeah - much better with a nice arcade stick.

I love it, and so do my hands. I kind of wish I had an American stick for it.

are they bad quality/do they break?

im kinda surprised at the good reviews the mini stick gets. I assumed most fighting game people would hate it

If your going to spend more than 60 just get a Mad Catz Tournament Edition, they are super great.

For a cheap stick, might I recommend a mayflash one instead:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0015PHMFU/?tag=neogaf0e-20

It'll be just as cheap and nasty...but if I'm not mistaken it is also easier to mod with quality parts should you ever feel the urge (or want a fun project).

Mind you the market is about to be flooded with cheap TE sticks once next gen hits so you probably wouldn't bother to do even that. There will also be plenty of deals on during EVO next week, so I'd wait for that.

I guess man but if you get a TE you will not regret it. As someone who picked up some cheap SE's when they were like sub 30$ clearance - the TE is what you want. Great stuff.

Think im gonna get the mini and consider upgrading to a $100 one if I like it and the mini aint doing it for me. Seems smarter than getting a $50-$60 and ending up doing the same. Im thinking the quality jump from the mini to the WWE one wont be as noticeable as the jump from the WWE one to the TE one.

Plus the small form factor makes it pretty handy for non-fighting stuff, at the least

$35 is just in the "sure i'll get that with mild interest" range. $50+ becomes pushing it

In that case then yeah, I would get the mini. If you find you like using arcade sticks I would recommend checking out the TE (maybe if you... know someone with it you can try it out for a while or something). Try out various arcade games / genres with it, you will find that is generally much more natural to play them with an arcade stick.

All this talk of arcade sticks has reminded me that I have a Wii stick that needs artwork. That and a Mayflash Wii to USB adapter.

I regret buying Sonic Racing Transformed.

I got to experience the Panzer Dragoon stage and now I'm sad.

You're sad because of no new Panzer Dragoon right and not because Sonic Racing Transformed is bad yeah?

Just let the joy of the game itself take it's place. You'll be okay.

Or you could buy a xbone and get that kinect dragon game that was supposed to be on 360. crimson something.

MK9 works just fine with a stick. There's probably an adjustment period though.

Sad because no PD, obviously. Sonic is good as far as I can tell, although the karts feel a bit floaty.

Crimson Dragon isn't a Kinect-only game anymore but if it's still built around it, it probably won't make a difference. I just wish it was on a platform that wasn't dead last on my list to get.
